$20 off with the code, another $20 from the MIR.

$20 mail in rebate does not equate to $129 + free shipping.

The $20 from the code doesn't show up until after it's applied in the shopping cart. Went through the process to verify it before I posted here (though tax still applies if you unfortunately must for Newegg). /shrug

$169.99 - $20 promo code = $149.99

I still don't understand how you get $129 from a $20 promo code...

Do you not know what a mail in rebate is?

When someone says $129 + free shipping, people expect to pay $129 at checkout, not pay $159.99 and than do a stupid mail in rebate that takes months to arrive.

I have the XL2420T and it's crap. It's got serious problems with backlight bleeding and I've spotted 3 dead pixels. ROFL... not buying BENQ ever again.

Should have bought a Samsung S23A700D or a S23A950 instead. Quite a few of my friends have S23A700D and it's so much more impressive.

I've always taken MIRs into account when buying things. I know most people don't bother with the MIRs may it be out of laziness or whatever, but $20 is $20 in my book. Sorry sire.

Possibility of backlight bleed and dead pixels exist for every monitor. Did you even try returning it or are you just blaming BenQ because you're lazy?

It happened with my other Benq monitors dude. I had two BENQ G2420HD both with backlight bleeding and dead pixels but not as bad as the XL2420T. I have had problems with them and I only thought it was the model but since I got the XL2420T I know Benq's quality is pretty bad. I'm going to return it next week since I'm quite busy atm. I might actually get a refund...

I tried to get an exchange for my G2420HD but their excuse was "can't exchange because they're not at the center of the screen". Yeah bullshit, they were so noticeable and the quality was just shit.

No need to call me lazy though (wtf?).

Sorry if I offended you by calling you lazy but what else was I suppose to take from the post when you didn't specify your previous experience with BenQ nor did you specify you tried contacting for an exchange.

Samsung's quality is pathetic as well. All Samsung 950D 120hz monitors have backlight bleeding in the bottom right hand corner where the stand arm connects to the base because Samsung's consumer electronics seem to consistently have poor hardware design. Their whole 850D professional PLS monitor lineup is littered with severe backlight bleeding issues because of horrid quality control and a paper thin chassis that is likely putting extra strain on the panel itself - anyone saying the build quality is good has never seen a real 27" monitor before. In fact, Samsung is not really known for anything but offering good price/performance for the cost in the TV and monitor sector.

The BenQ XL2420t is fine after calibration: it has great contrast, good motion performance, as well as pretty good black/white depth. Its preset modes are rather pathetic leading to stuff like black crushing and oversaturation so I don't blame you for finding the Samsung monitors better. Or maybe you prefer glossy monitors over matte monitors, which is a perfectly fine opinion to have (I personally prefer glossy). Either way, your immediate problems with the monitor occurs with every single monitor manufacturer in existence.

Backlight bleeding and dead pixels is common on all monitors - Dell IPS monitors commonly have these problems but people manage since warranty is very nice most of the time. You'll never avoid backlight bleeding unless you want to play panel roulette, I mean even high end professional NEC/HP/Eizo/Lacie monitors have it.

If you have serious problems with the monitor, take advantage of the warranty services or return policies if you are not happy with the product. Yes, I know computer enthusiasts don't give a shit about warranty but its there for a reason why such things exist.

Samsung are known for their best quality. Why does Samsung have the most market share in the LCD market? Samsung beat LG a few years ago. In 2011, Samsung utterly dominated tiny Benq and ASUS which buy their panels from Samsung and LG. If Samsung's quality wasn't good, then Samsung wouldn't have such a lead in market share.

So Benq, Asus and AOC (which buys all their panels from LG) buy their panels from Samsung and LG. If Samsung is "pathetic", then what does that make Benq, Asus and AOC?

Samsung S23A700D. Not sure if they sell it in Germany. You'd have to do a search.

Because Samsung has dirt cheap monitors that look pretty good. That's why. Go into a TV store and compare all of the TVs. Most people would buy the Samsung because they're the thinnest and have the most saturation of the TVs on display.

Samsung can't do hardware design. This is not new. The 950D has problems regarding the actual hardware design, the 850D has problems with the PLS technology and/or the monitor frame design, the Samsung Nexus phones has actual hardware/software problems regarding polar axis inputs amongst a few others, you had historic capacitor problems with their whole TV and monitor lineups in the past because they chose to go cheap, the 305T has problems with the main processing chip melting right off after time because of the cheap solder used. These sort of silly problems are not uncommon.

There is a long line of Samsung's hardware design biting the consumer. That does not mean they cannot make good panels. Give someone who can do good hardware design a good panel and you get a very nice result. Eizo uses PLS panels in some of their IPS monitors (lol) and they're miles above what Samsung has shown so far. Of course you or I wouldn't buy the Eizo monitors because they're very, very expensive.

\/\/\/\/\/\/\/

I didn't add those because 27" 1080P monitors are, IMHO, rubbish unless you sit really far back or your eyes are really bad. I'll make a comment about it but I have no idea why you'd pay extra for more of the same.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 (replaced my old iPhone) and it's miles better than my iPhone or any other smartphone competitor, period.

It's not just because Samsung's price (the price is brought down by the low South Korean currency - I think it's the Won?). I could say the same about Benq (dirt cheap), ASUS (dirt cheap), etc. The only reason why Samsung's monitors are cheap is because of the low exchange rate, and btw, I've bought plenty of expensive stuff and plenty of them had horrible quality.

Eizo got their PLS technology from Samsung. Samsung first developed the PLS display back in 2010. http://sammyhub.com/2010/12/01/samsung-develops-super-pls-lcd/
