However, I guess I have to wait until someone posts the ghosting effects and input lag in this monitor. Digitalversus gave a short review, they say the color sucks, which I guess doesn't matter for me since I want to game with it, not oogle at pretty pictures. However, it BRIEFLY says the input lag is low, but no definitive evidence to back him up with it.
1920x1080 resolution on 27" sucks... also it's too big for TN...
For the same reason, the new Asus VG278H sucks, but at least it comes with a good stand. It costs a hilarious $700 though.

I guess its true. 120hz monitors can only be 1920x1080 anyways, if its 27", your just buying unnecessary crap when your 24" 1920x1080 will have the same effect putting your monitor 6 inches closer to your face.

Microcenter is selling cheapass 2560x1440 monitors for $400. Much cheaper and safer than buying from Korea since you can deal with Microcenter, which is apparently not that bad when it comes to warranty and shit. They still look like shit but can you complain at the price?
Link.

They aren't IPS panels -- a world of difference.
edit: ok maybe they are. Still around 100 more expensive than the korean monitors though.

They're actually cheaper than the Korean multi-input monitors. These have DisplayPort, HDMI, and DVI. And actually have local warranty from Microcenter so product returns and RMA services don't cost you an arm and a leg.

I wish 120hz monitor with 2560x1440 monitors were invented....

So what do you guys think about this monitor? I can get it for about $150, but I'm not really a monitor expert so I was wondering what you guys thought. It seems like it's response time is pretty good (2ms), 24 inches, and 1080p, so it seems pretty good to me for the price. Thanks!http://usa.asus.com/Display/LCD_Monitors/VS248HP/#specifications

As I mentioned in the OP, response time means nothing. The VS248H has reverse ghosting. That's a pretty cheap price but its nothing worth noting to be quite honest.

Ok, so would you suggest getting that monitor? Of if there's a better one I would greatly appreciate the suggestion!

Well...it depends on how much you really want to spend.

I did a little bit of looking around, and are you sure you're talking about the same monitor? According to prad.de review, they looked at VS229H and it had no adjustable Trace Free controls, but VS229H-P does. Amazon and other reviews for VS248H-P say that Trace Free controls are available. Asus Trace Free setting adjusts the pixel overdrive, so the amount of ghosting vs. reverse ghosting.
So even if VS248H has reverse ghosting, it should be that the VS248H-P can be configured not to have bad reverse ghosting.

Nope you're right, I'm off the ball this week. It should have trace-free feature, which can adjust the overdrive to reduce ghosting/reverse ghosting.

For that price range, you aren't going to find anything better (or as larger) for the price.

I just went for Eizo 23" LED FlexScan EV2335W-GB
Should I reconsider this? I play SC2, Diablo3 a lot, and I really love colors. Mostly Im stoned when I play. Given this information, should I reconsider this monitor I just ordered?

How much will it cost you? As far as I know, pricing for Eizo monitors in Sweden and Norway are a lot lower than the rest of the world. If the price is around a Dell Ultrasharp U2312HM, then getting the Eizo EV2335W is a no-brainer.
The monitor is essentially the FS2332 with a business aesthetic. The only real difference between the FS2332 and EV2335W is that the FS2332 has a 10 bit LUT while the EV2335W has a 8 bit LUT. The 10 bit LUT makes it easier to achieve smoother gradients. Seriously speaking, you probably won't care since Eizo tends to do a decent job with factory calibration.

I'd probably get the Asus to be quite honest. Its a pretty decent TN monitor with the trace-free function, as far as I know. I believe the best trace free values are 40 or 60.

I'm looking for a (computer) monitor for my ps3 and watching movies, stuff like that. I heard ps3 should be 16 : 9 and support that encrypted thing, hdcp i think its called? Preferably a big screen, 27,28,29,30", something like that. No more than about 600 euro. Any advice? Also, is there any consumer oriented amoled or 120hz ips panels coming out soon? Or maybe a 4k screen? Should I wait for those? Because the monitor market seem to have stood still for quite a few years now... If you buy an IPS you cant play games, if you buy a 120hz TN panel you cant watch movies and so on... Kinda shitty.

Even if there was a consumer OLED screen coming to the desktop market, I wouldn't get it because you're going to get burn in and kill the blue subpixel extremely quickly. Desktop workloads are the worst when it comes to panel stress.

- IPS play games fine. Is it because that they're not as fast as a 120hz monitor or is it because for another reason? Professional Starcraft 2 players have used the Eizo FS2332 so I can't see why most people would have any problem with it. - 120hz TN panels can run at 60hz if you really want to watch movies without the soap opera effect.
There are ~100hz IPS monitors just you have to mess with drivers and whatever. Buy from here. Keep in mind they're A- panels so they're stuff that Dell/Apple/etc. don't want.

The second paragraph was mostly an unrelated inquiry about the state of the monitor market. I have a Samsung 226bw, I don't know how it compares to newer IPS panels for playing games. 2ms to 6ms? input lag? Either way, that's not too relevant since I'll use it for ps3 and movies. I just want it to have really good viewing angles, both vertical and horizontal. And preferably better colors than my current one. Are you recommending the Achieva Shimian QH270/Catleap Q270? It seems a bit risky with no warranty to help in case of dead pixels, defect screen or stuff like that.
So you don't think I should wait for better PLS or OLED screens and just go with a midrange IPS? Apart from those suspicious screens, what alternatives are there?
NEC MultiSync PA231W, Samsung S27A850T, Eizo Foris FX2431, Dell UltraSharp U2711, ViewSonic VP2765-LED? Any of those to consider (i realize not all of them are 27")? no whatever, just recommend me the best 27" monitor for console. I don't care about antiglare or stuff like that. But I'd rather it doesn't buzz too loudly.
