What's the worse that can happen if i keep this one and put a 6870 in?
|
The worst that can happen is that components in your PC will overload the PSU and will become starved for power. This can lead to the components shutting down during heavy usage, and in the worst case it'll break your components.
|
Lol, no that's not the worse case scenario with a shit power supply. The worse case scenario is it blowing up and taking out the entire computer along with it.
|
As Myrmidion suggested, if it's similar to the 450 W version provided in the link, then you'd be vise to update your psu at some point even if it can run the new gpu. It doesn't deliver the power it specifies, it have really bad noise/ripple, bad efficiency and bad connectivity. Have you checked that it even have the neccesary cables to run your gpu?

Uh that's not a good power supply. I don't know why you don't get one of the ones that were recommended to you...
|
So the 450w provided above should run everything just fine? I'll just get that one than most likely looked over the 1 i linked and it is nothing compared to that other 1.

Even if there's no catastrophic failure, such poor DC output quality (well outside specs) will harm system components over time like the motherboard and hard drives.
With such a unit, not only is the probability of catastrophic failure much higher, but the probability of such a failure causing harm to the other components is higher, since the regulation is no good and the usual protections aren't implemented.
The Cooler Master would be an upgrade, but it's from really bad to just undesirable. Is there a reason that the above suggestions were ignored? If you've really got to save like $5, pick up the Corsair CX430 V2 or Antec Neo Eco 400C.
edit: just saw the post above, but I'm not following. Could you use the names of the units or at least the brands to identify which you're talking about, just so we're sure?

Capstone is better. Its a Super Flower design that's more efficient, more stable, and the unit itself is built better. The Antec Neo Eco 520 is a cut down variant of the Seasonic S12II which is an older design. Both are good power supplies though.
