Playing on EU-Server from the US - Lag?

Hi guys, i will be moving from germany to new york in a few weeks. I still would like to play some 2v2, 3v3 games with my mates in germany once in a while, so here is my question:

Does anybody know how the pingtime/lag is when playing on a european server from the states? Is it playable or will it lag like hell?

I dont know what internet connection i wil have over there, but i assume the internet connections in new york city should be pretty fast and stable.

The connection between US and EU is pretty good as far as I know, the delay is not really that big of an issue, pros do play cross servers fairly often now days.

Depends what you mean by fast, what you need is a low latency connection with good routing from NY to Netherland.

Maybe you can try ping the NA server from where you are now to get a rough idea on the ping you will
be expecting.

I moved from Germany to NY (up the Hudson river) half year ago, I played on NA server no problem and also on EU server no problem. I have a kickass laptop and was connected to the Internet via WLAN, I could play 8* 200 supply 4v4 no problem.

Now I moved to the Boston Area, am connected via LAN (or WLAN) and have incredible lags, spikes. Cant play 4v4 at all, 3v3 early game no problem but midgame is unplayable, so is 2v2 with micro and stuff. 1v1 is okay early game and midgame, but when it comes to makro game its unplayable with lags spikes because u cant play well and pay attention to all the stuff you need.

But I can play on the NA server no problem. Its kinda curious. Maybe someone can help?

I play on EU from West Virginia on a cable connection with no problem at all. Can't really tell the difference between when I play on NA or EU, and if it's true that the connection goes through NY, then you should have no problem.

Yeah. Thats how I expirenced it in NY too. No difference at all. It was all fine. And yes, the connection goes throuh NYC. Right next to Wall Street Stock Exchange... So was pretty close too it. But ur in Virginia, I cant tell why my connection to EU from Boston now sucks that hard...:/

I play on EU from SOUTH America and there's no lag, at all. So, playing from NA you will not notice ANY lag.
