Im thinking it may be wierd if i cant heard myself type.. but the blacks may also be a slight problem if they are harder to press..

Well, blacks are the same, they'll be just as quiet. Reds are just blacks, but with much lighter keys. :p If you want to hear yourself type, get blues, or if you just want audible noise when you're typing browns are probably what you want. They don't make a click noise like blues, but they do make some noise through the tactile bump and especially if you bottom them out.

I always recommend trying to find a local computer store if possible (mom and pops, or Fry's Microcenter etc.) and trying out a SS/BW (What they always only have) before making decisions.

As for blacks, I find it gets easier to type as you get used to it because after you are able to feel when you can stop pressing to activate it's actually really light and smooth, a feeling I quite like. If you do want a bump I'd go for blues/browns though.

Awesome! Great choice, you're going to absolutely love it! This thread needs more reds love, so post your thoughts after you've had some time trying it out.

yes, and they're not "better for gaming", it's all subjective. Some say that because the linearity means you can press keys faster but plenty of people on here game on tactile switches (including pros) and it works perfectly fine. It doesn't matter at all, it's just what you're comfortable with.

Yes, only reds and blacks are linear. As for them being the best for gaming, that's still up for debate. I myself, owning a Filco with browns and a Leopold with reds, can say I love playing on my Leopold since I've gotten it. That's not to say my Filco, or any board with browns is bad. Quite the opposite, actually, it's still an amazing keyboard in it's own right. Also, having that tactile bump and using it every day for over a year really prepared me for using a board without one now. It's down to muscle memory now, I no longer need the bump to tell me when to release the key.

That being said, I would still recommend reds over browns, even if ever so slightly. I really enjoy the linear feel with almost zero resistance when depressing the keys. I've never tried blacks due to always hearing they're hard to press and can fatigue your fingers when doing a lot of typing. To me though, I really like the lighter keystrokes of the browns, reds and blues and I think my two boards are perfect in that respect. It's really just down to personal preference which sucks, trust me I know, I was there not long ago. Wanted a mech keyboard but with no idea what the switches were like and no way of finding one to test. It was between blacks and browns for my first board and I ended up going with my gut on browns due to them being much lighter switches. I could not have been happier with that decision. I never was a heavy-handed typist though, maybe you are, if that's the case blacks could be just right. Ultimately though you can't go wrong with any mech keyboard. My advice is just go with reds, I really think you'd end up liking them. They're just a joy to game on. Good luck with the decision, it's tough I know!

So what is better about the RK-9000BL compared to the 6GV2? Im kinda nervous that there are mechanical keyboard hipsters that would point me to a Filco rather than 6gv2 just because.
I have an RK with blues instead of blacks and I used to use a 6Gv2. I've noticed that they keys on the 6Gv2 come out super easy compared to the RK-9000. Also, if you like to use the extendable feet on most keyboards, the 6Gv2 doesn't have those. It feels way more solid overall than a 6GV2. However, it all depends. Can you get a 6Gv2 locally for cheap or would you be ordering online either way. If you can get it cheap locally I would just get a 6GV2, because you can actually try it before you buy it and you save on shipping. If ordering off the internet, I would pony up the 20 bucks for a more solid feeling keyboard. Either will do you well ultimately. I used my 6Gv2 for a year, and still would be but I wanted to try different switches.

^^That's probably more getting used to the mechanical in general though...the difference in actuation force between blacks and other mechanicals is negligible

I'm typing this on my new Das Ultimate (with blues)!!!!!! It came today.

Given the Youtube videos and threads on the internet regarding mechanical boards, as well as reviews of the Das, it seems kind of pointless to do my own review. However, I'm more than willing to throw down my impressions and answer any questions if people have them. I'll try to check this thread, or you can just PM me.

The 6gv2 is amazing. I've had it for 3 months and I can say that it has improved my game dramatically. It has cherry black switches which is supposedly best for RTS and FPS games

Pick the cheapest one, for some reason Geekhack has negative reviews on the Rosewill even though it's similar to Filcos, other than that there's no real difference between all those keyboards except for Ducky's looks and Leopolds' different large key stabilizers (basically, feel less good, last longer)

That Filco has black switches, not red. I'm typing on a Leopold with reds now, and it's fantastic. I have a Rosewill (with blues) too, and it is also fantastic. I've never used a Ducky.

The Leo and the Rosewill are both plate-mounted, and both have detachable cables. The Rosewill's plate is red, which shows through the cracks in between keys. Some people like that, others don't. One thing the Leo has which the Rosewill does not is channels on the bottom so the cable can come out on the left, right, or center. The Leo's key caps are lasered rather than pad printed, so the legends will last (much) longer before wearing away. Some people dislike the feel of lasered keys, but if you're not a connoisseur you probably won't care. You probably also won't care about this unless you're a keyboard enthusiast, but finding replacement spacebars and caps, num, and scroll lock keys for the Rosewill is much easier than the Leopold. If you plan on buying fancy key cap sets you will have an easier time with the Rosewill.

Subjectively, I prefer the Rosewill because I like how it looks more. I'm not sure about black Leopolds, but the casing of my white Leo is made of plastic that feels and looks a little bit cheaper than the Rosewill's matte, metallic feel. I also find the logo and lock lights of the 104-key Leo really ugly. That said, the Rosewill is about $20 more. Hope this helps.

edit: Oh snap, I see you've already ordered. Well, enjoy the Leo. It's a great keyboard.
