You're the one asking for help, not that neptunusfisk's response was diplomatic in the slightest, but coming back with attitude isn't going to make anyone jump to offer assistance anyway.

ps/2 is considered better for keyboards, yes. You can't use a ps/2 adapter unless you have a keyboard that supports it, the keyboard needs to send extra signals for it to be usable AFAIK.

Some USB keyboards, especially mech boards, allow you to use either - but many of them don't.

The answers very simple, and you should've used your brain to solve it. Does this happen on any other keyboards?

If yes - USB port's faulty/other problem with your PC
If no - Keyboard's faulty.

Does this happen on any other PC?
If yes - Game's probably faulty, nothing you can do.
If no - Fix your USB ports/motherboard/processor/any other possible part of your computer that might be broken.

A mechanical keyboard isn't ANY different for your motherboard to read than an old PS/2 keyboard, or a standard membrane/scissor switch USB keyboard. Please use your brain :D

The reason people recommend PS/2 is because it has less limitations than standard USB boards. It's not plug-'n-play though, which many people swear by (need to restart if you plug it in for it to work). PS/2 does have NKRO - always, so you can press any amount of buttons at the same time.

theres just so much stupid in this post it actually hurts to reply.
why do people assume that i havent looked for answers already before coming to this thread? do you actually think i havent asked those obvious questions to myself already?

I just bought Blackstorm Mech with blue switches and taking it back right away, thankfully 1 of the keyboard leds was broken so theres actually valid reason to return it but my real reason is purely how retarded num, caps, scroll lock lights are. It is like someone is pointing you with a flashlight, you simply can't keep them on.
Plus, i was stupid myself for not noticing how small the enter key was as well, height of 1 button, width of 2 buttons, very irritating.

Not sure whether this is worth a reply, but if you're too lazy to write down what you've already tried/tested so that people can efficiently help you instead of asking vague questions, people might be able to help you in the future.

I'm not sure what you want but I think that's a standard ANSI layout, you might want to go to a UK shop if you want an ISO layout (big enter button, not just wide). Is blackstorm an inhouse brand? I've never heard of it and they don't have a (very obvious) website. If you have the money and want a reliable, nice (backlit optional) keyboard I'd stick to these brands to be honest:

-Corsair
-Vortex
-CM storm
-Ducky
-Filco
-WASD keyboards

It seems that Blackstorm is Verkkokauppa.com's(largest IT store in Finland) inhouse brand.
Either way i returned the keyboard and got ducky legend instead, costed nearly twice as much but im happy.

Ok so I'm trying to decide between the noppoo choco mini, the leopold tenkeyless, ducky zero tenkeyless (nonbacklit), and the filco majestouch 2 tenkeyless. I will be using the keyboard for StarCraft (2) mainly. I know filco is probably the best but can you guys actually notice the difference in quality while you're are playing? People have complained about the leopold's stabilizers but Innovation uses that keyboard too. Not many pros use the noppoo or ducky because of availability issues. Need help and suggestions.

Thanks

What switch? Filcos with MX Browns are pretty notorious for their pinging issues which is why I ask. You'll notice a slight difference between the boards depending on the stabilizers (Costar vs Cherry). People like to say that Cherry stabilizers generally tend to give a "mushy" feeling. Besides those, you shouldn't really notice a difference in build quality between those boards. They are all pretty solid.

Oh yes I forgot to mention I prefer MX Browns. This pinging noise gives me an excuse to save money :D Yea I was worried about the stabilizers, especially because I use ctrl, shift and tab when I play and I was wondering if you noticed that cherry stabilizers impacted you when playing? Do cherry stabilizers feel like the new Logitech omron switches by any chance? Also would you know if the quickfire rapid has been discontinued?

I own a brown leopold and a brown Noppoo. I will say that if you are straddling the fence on those leopold is better for SC2. The keys are thicker, and the whole thing feels slightly less flimsy. That isn't to take away from the Noppoo which is a grreat board, but the Leopold is a better gaming board all round.

Yeah, as someone who previously owned a Filco MJ2 with MX browns... the pinging was really awful I didn't notice Cherry stabilizers having any good/bad effects when playing games. I've noticed different feels though when it came to using different boards with MX browns, most likely because they came from different batches (though the browns on my Ducky keyboards seemed to feel the smoothest). Browns on some of the other keyboards I've gone through felt grittier/less satisfying to type on. I have tried the Logitech G910 keyboard and I'd say no, they don't feel like those. The G910 omron switches felt like sticky rubber domes to me. I can't say for 100% certain that the Quickfire Rapid has been discontinued, but it seems like they've been pushed aside in favor of the Rapid-I. Which Leopold model(s) are you considering?

I definitely prefer a compact keyboard but with the function keys obviously because I need those for camera hotekeys so I'm looking at either the fc700 or the fc700r unless there are cheaper versions that I'm not aware of? I'm also having trouble finding leopolds in stock anywhere. I've checked all the big sites (Amazon, newegg, bestbuy, etc.) as well as elitekeyboards and mechanicalkeyboards and they're all out of stock or don't have them. I just found some qfr's with brown switches on amazon after searching "leopold" o_O

Edit: Also what are your thoughts on the blackwidow tournament with the orange razer switches? Is the board quality itself on par with say a qfr or choco mini?

I thought it was just the FC700R? Wasn't aware there was another similar model. The Leopold FC700R is a good keyboard for the value, great build quality and comes with PBT key caps. Ducky is a brand I can definitely recommend also. I own several Ducky keyboards and they're still going strong. Unfortuantely, he Leopold FC700R model is one that's not particularly easy to come by unless you have an Asian proxy.

Personally, I would never buy anything Razer unless it was a gaming keypad or an accessory. I do not think that the quality of their products in general are up to par in comparison to many of the competing peripheral brands. Based off impressions of people who have opened up and worked with the internals of a QFR and Razer mechanical keyboards, the QFR beats Razer hands down.

The orange switches are tuned Kailh switches, a Cherry-MX ''Rip-off''. We do not know what long term usage entails even though they're also rated for up to 40million clicks, compared to cherry's 50 million I think. If you just want your first board, it doesn't really matter, although they'll be slightly different.

Personally I'd go with what you feel provides the best build quality and look as well as usability. You can replace keycaps (although Leopold's layout is a bit special, so be careful with that) so that they feel better (PBT > ABS, I think leopold comes with PBT caps standard though, not sure. Most boards (including razer, ducky, steelseries etc all deliver with ABS caps. The feeling is just not the same.) They shine easier (you feel the shine too, it's.. ''smoother'') and break easier. You can replace those as said though, just look at banggood.com or qtan's vendio esports store. Aside from that, layout+build quality seems to be what you're looking for.

If you just want your first board, it doesn't really matter, although they'll be slightly different.

I actually have a cheap ($40) azio levetron clicker board that uses fake alps switches. On my first one the the "a" and "v" key started missing presses after 1 1/2 year so I sent it in to azio and they gave me a new one.

Most boards (including razer, ducky, steelseries etc all deliver with ABS caps

I thought Ducky came with pbt caps?

Also, I'm having trouble finding all of these keyboards except the filco (I am in US). Elitekeyboards doesn't seem to have leopolds anymore and all of Ducky's US retailers are out of stock. I found the noppoo choc mini on amazon but the brown version is sold out. Do you know anywhere else I could look or do I just have to wait?

Only some Ducky models come with PBT key caps, same with Leopold. The only real issue Leopold's layout has when it comes to buying aftermarket custom key caps for it, is the spacebar sizing. You can buy Ducky keyboards from mechanicalkeyboards.com, ncixus.com, and ncix.com. If none of those vendors have what you're looking for in stock, they seem to restock every 2-3 months. Ncix.com is the Canadian site, but they will ship international. I bought one of my Filcos from them before and the shipping was reasonable. Also, ncixus.com and ncix.com do have weekly specials and will discount a few of their Ducky keyboards from time to time.

Which specific Ducky model(s) are you looking for?

I was thinking the cheapest one which seems like the dk2087. I don't need/ want backlighting. I guess I'll just have to wait for all the websites to restock their boards. Also on amazon it says that they're supposed to be restocking the quickfire rapids in February. If this happens I'll probably get the qfr as I've heard great things about it and it's a great price.
