You should go to Youtube and research this stabilizer business. There should be video guides on how to get the key-cap off without breaking the stabilizer (the plastic parts involved are pretty thin). There are two different styles for those parts, and best would be to find a video for your exact keyboard.
Even when I remove the key, pressing the switch seems to be somewhat ineffective.

I just got this keyboard http://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-XT-Mechanical/dp/B00EQV0W02
I swears I does, it is precioussssssss!
It is 1,000x better (short of repeats in the usb-ps2 conversion layout) then the rubber dome I just graduated from. I am already quieter than the Qsenn DT-35 I was using and that's a mechanical quieter than a rubber dome folks!
look for the browns! :D

I've been using a blue switch keyboard and have been very content with it so far and I'm looking to buy a brown ten keyless keyboard for portable use (work/etc), a variety choices of brands/products recommendation would be nice. I live in germany, if that helps. Thanks

Blackwidow is guaranteed razer quality, that's all. I guess it could be a problem with either the pcb or the switch, in any case, you'd need to desolder shit and that'd void the warranty, given you still have one.

I got lucky through the classifieds of Geekhack, and paid $135 for a KeyCool 87 with clears from a member. Threw blank keys on them:

I wish you good luck in your search. You'd have to try Geekhack (through the classifieds), or there is a vendor forum there with a member who sells keyboards and accessories here (he's currently out at the moment).
You could just wait for stock at WASD, or you could try here. There is nothing there at the moment either, but wouldn't hurt to check every once in awhile.

ah ok, thanks! EDIT: apparently this guy is selling keycool 87 mx clears for $134 total. http://deskthority.net/marketplace-f11/keycool-mechanical-84-87-108-with-cherry-mx-clear-switches-t7182.html

^ I won't buy it, but wow, I like the font on that board!
|
Just be wary of who you're buying from on Deskthority since some sellers are from Europe, so anyone from the US would probably pay an undesirable shipping cost.
On a side note I had fun doing this the other day! + Show Spoiler +

Ripster still so salty, after all this time.

A bit out there, but does anyone know what font CM Storm boards use?

So my blackwidow has been crapping out on me, and I want to buy a new mechanical keyboard. Backlight would be nice but it doesn't have to be. Any suggestions, or at least anyone know where i can get the Ducky Shine? seems like they are out of stock in the link provided in the OP.

http://www.ebay.com/bhp/ducky-keyboard Ebay is good if you're in the states.
I recommend as often as I can Leopolds, but they may be a bit bland for your tastes if you really like backlit boards. Another tempting option for me was the Noppoo Mini, it is freaking adorable.
