All I know is I like black keys and NKRO (pretty happy with my SteelSeries kb) so that helps narrow it down some. Cool, NKRO isn't essential in most situations because nearly all keyboards do 6 kro over usb these days and you would be hard pressed to hit more than 6 keys at exactly the same time. Ducky Shines are amazing backlit, have a look at the CM quickfire TK if you want a cheaper compact keyboard. Or red switches and black is good too? All are usable, it is personal opinion. Try go to a store and test them. Will be my first mechanical keyboard purchase, so just wondering, which one do most people recommend? My friend has blues, says they're loud, but I respond with noise isn't an issue (and I can always o-ring). Browns seems like most recommended when going from membrane to mechanical. Hoping to join the mech-KB gang soon!!! The QFR is better quality but there is nothing abysmally wrong with the Pro. So it mostly comes down to which switch you like.

Anyways the Zibal's backlighting is not as great as Ducky's, so another pro that the Ducky has over it especially if you're putting backlighting as a factor when you look for keyboards. As mentioned also keycaps are an issue, which I think a lot of people overlook when looking at keyboards. Especially when it comes to backlit keyboards. I went from a BW Ultimate to a Steelseries, and besides preferring the black over the blue blue switches, I noticed a huge difference with NKRO over the 6KRO. I think on the BW the 6KRO was only on WASD cluster, not sure if others have a "global" 6KRO, which might be OK. Made a huge difference for me though.

so basically yesterday, I ve build my new pc and had my Razer Black Widow Ultimate connected to this PC. After a restart, the keyboard just didn´t work anymore. Even the key-lamps do not work and if I connect the keyboard with my other PC I have the same problem aswell. I have installed different drivers but all of them say that no Razer keyboard or mouse could be found. Has anybody have had a problem like this? My warranty is over because I got the keyboard Christmas ´11. Would be a shame because I invested a lot in my new Pc and therefore can´t just buy a new one and have to re-use my old non mechanical keyboard which sucks. So if anybody has any clue, I am looking forward to hearing from you. Greets

Then plug it in again and see if it comes to life. Also maybe try flash new firmware, heres another Q+A that might help

I finally managed to fix it this evening based on ideas from this web site: http://gevil.wordpress.com/2011/05/28/razer-black-widow-ultimate-firmware-update-failure-and-how-to-solve-it/ I had tried the latests firmware update (Razer_BlackWidow_FirmwareUpdater_v1.08) but it could not detect the keyboard but the following procedure worked : 1. I uninstalled everything (BlackWidow software and firmware update) 2. download an old firmware version and installed it (v1.05 from http://www.razersupport.com/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=viewdownload&downloaditemid=531) 3. at that moment your keyboard should be detected in the Windows device manager as a Razer Bootloader 4. launch the firmware update program... it detects the keyboard, flash and reset it. 5. YES !! blue leds are back... keyboard is working !!! Gratz .. you got your keyboard back ![]() Hopes that helps ! well, till step 3 it is working for me, my PC says Razer Bootloader was found but if I open the firmware update program it says no keyboard detected, anyone an idea?

Or other serious alternatives? I have done some reading and I think I would prefer the brown over blue or black. Yeah it is solid, supports esports etc. I don't really understand rebates, but if its $100 then thats great. If it is $130 then maybe have a look at a Rosewill.

The way the rebate should work, is you send them stuff, with your UPC, receipt their form w.e and they send you a check for the rebate amt. Instant rebates are taken off at checkout.

The only very minor con to me is the Windows key is located on the right side of the keyboard rather than the left. Other than that, it's perfect.

As of now it just kind of lays out somewhere where it won't get damaged, but is there any way for me to clean it and make sure I get all 10 million+ key strokes out of it? You can clean it by taking the keys off (be careful with the large keys, learn how to pull them off), but it's just a pile of plastic. There isn't much maintenance to do, just don't get it wet. If you put some kind of cover over it less dust will get on the keys which makes it a lot nicer when you use it.
