Hey guys, what are good (affordable) plate-mounted tenkeyless black switch keyboards out there? I wanted to get a Black switch Quickfire Rapid, but there seem to be none of those sold in Canada anymore. Can't find a similar Leopold either. Any ideas on what other options I can look at (or alternatively, where I can find a black switch Quickfire Rapid sold in Canada)?

$90 USD with shipping I think: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HPE-87-Mechanical-Gaming-keyboard-Cherry-MX-Black-switches-W-Black-body-/300738923231?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item46056fcadf

Probably comparable build to a quickfire rapid

hihi, i am gonna buy a new keyboard soon (since my razer blackwidow sucks and some keys don't respond properly)

does anybody have encoutered issues with the CM Storm QuickFire Pro/Rapid?

also which what kind of keys is better for sc, brown or red?

As above: yeah, browns mostly feel like blues, but they're quiet. I did notice that if I'm pressing really slowly and carefully (intentionally so) I can feel that the tactile bump is not 100% precisely at the actuation point, but I don't think you can achieve that when you're not pressing very slowly.

i don't really care if their quite or not since i play at like 300 apm most of the time anyway, a little more sound doesn't really matter.but where is the tacticle bump of? is it to high to low?

The harder it becomes, the more you should focus on the basics.

The bump is a tiny bit higher than the actuation point just like in blues.

Hey guys, can anyone give me a scenario in starcraft 2 where the Zowie Keyboard (Celeritas MX brown) RTR technology (1x,2x,4x,8x) input speed can actually affect gameplay at a high level?
i wonder how does it actually increase apm? (No one really holds down a button in starcraft 2 unless they are producing one type of unit in mass, even then it's not common), so how does the RTR technology help, at all?

Thanks

I think its just adding a hardware way of upping the repeat rate, something you can do in windows.

I have mine maxed in windows so I can virtually instantly use up all my larva.

Okay, but does it cause problems when you max the repeat rate, like double tapping ? what if you just want it to register once but since you up'd the repeat rate it registers twice.

Doesn't happen for me. You have to hold the key down for a little bit before it starts repeating. Just go to keyboard in control panel and max both sliders to try it yourself.

Sure.

Type keyboard into the windows 7 start menu search bar. Click keyboard, go to the speed tab, max (or however you want it) the first two sliders (repeat rate and delay).

I'm so addicted to my mechanical, that I want to bring it to the office. However, I work in a cubetropolis environment, and it's pretty quiet in here.

My board has MX Blues, which I believe would be a joy to type on all day. Anyone ever tried bringing one to work? Is it loud enough to piss off my coworkers?

I think it would be, it depends on your coworkers. Brown is more safe as a typing-board i think.. maybe even O-ringed browns

Yea I had to get a brown copy of the blue board I have at home because one of my co-workers would have poisoned me to death or some shit. I'm not in cubes though, it's just like 8 people in one office. Cubes might be far enough away that it's ok. You could just try bringing in a blue board and asking people if it's too annoying, do a sound check for them.

He already has the board with blues. I'm suggesting he bring it in to the office and ask people before he invests in another board. If it turns out people really don't give a shit, then he saves $50~$90 or w/e.

speaking outside of keyboards here, asking people "CAN I USE MY CHERRY MX BLUE SWITCH KEYBOARD IS THAT OKAY IS IT TOO LOUD" etc. is really socially awkward, especially when it's a given that it IS annoying for a lot of people.

don't bring it.

umm, it's only as awkward as you make it. Brought my keyboard to work and nobody cared about the sound of blues, even when I asked. Most people aren't even going to think about the sound of your keyboard other than it sounds pretty much like any other keyboard. Typing on membrane switches makes sounds too.
