I chose to buy a Filco over a Leopold mainly because for aesthetic reasons. I like the Filco's sharper lines, and I dislike the Leopold's ugly logo and the fact that its lock lights (caps lock, num lock, scroll lock) are embedded in the keys. Also Filcos are slightly easier to buy special keycaps for on places like geekhack.

That said, I do envy the Leopold's detachable cable.

I won't really say Filco's have an easier time when finding keycaps because most of the "group buys" on geekhack are compatible with all Cherry MX boards unless they clearly state that they are only for Filco's.

This is probably due to personal preference, but I tried my friend's Leopold and the space bar felt a bit more mushier than I would have liked it to be.

I was thinking mainly of the spacebar, which has different stem spacing than the Filco. And I did say "slightly" easier.

How the board looks matters a great deal to me. Obviously opinions on aesthetics will differ, but I think the Filco looks a lot better.

And Leopolds have indeed been shown to ping. I believe any plate-mounted board has the potential to ping.

Hello TL!

I browse these types of threads often and I know some people have had questions about our MEKA line of keyboards, so I figured I'd introduce myself as the liaison directly between Tt eSPORTS and the community =D. Let me know if you have any questions!

How come some people said that your challenger keyboard is like a mechanical is this true?

Our Challenger keyboard has that old-style clicky feel to it so I can understand the comparison. It's a basic rubber-dome keyboard, so it's definitely going to feel that way in comparison to our Challenger Pro and Challenger Ultimate (which are both laptop keys).

Is Thermaltake going to make a mechanical keyboard with maybe browns or blues? The market is saturated with with Blacks.

I can't give a definitive yes or no answer, however this has been brought to our attention many times before. I will say that it's possible ^_-

Also looking into maybe some of the rarer cherry switches like red might prove profitable. They can be rare in the US.

I doubt ttesports will make a cherry red board for the fact that most people don't want to spend the extra $10 for a red board. They are better off making blue/brown/black boards. I just don't see them turning a big profit off reds in the states.

There is a couple retailers that have reds and are US based.

So I got a steelseries 6gv2 after much indecision about wich mechanical keyboard to get, and my god that thing is awesome. Coming from a rubber dome keyboard so I can't really give comparisons from other mechanical keyboards but typing on this feels much more reactive.

Leopold>filco... so many different ways, key caps for sure are number one. shiney thin keybaps, especially for the amount of money invested. 40 dollars in price difference. Detachable cord. No ping issues.

the only thing different are the edges, rounded and sharp. hardly noticeable at all. unless u sit there and stare at your board. otherwise they are identical. Besides the looks, quality wise, you cant beat the filco. Id rather have quality keys over, ones that will be shiney in a month. and ping is soo annoying, my buddies pings like mad. especailly during intense sc2 games. just makes it sound so cheap

so if spending the extra 40 bucks for a sharper edge, shitty keys and ping is worth it to you, then by all means get a filco. Also almost all the geekhack custom key places are now offering leopold spacebars as well, so thats not even an issue. And elitekeyboards offers 1 year warenty vs filcos ???

Leopolds can ping too. Alot of boards can ping. It's not a huge issue. My Filco board pings and I barely notice it.

No need to be a jerk about it kwan. The sharp edges are very noticeable to me. You don't care about the edges. That's fine. Leopold keycaps are also ABS, and will also get shiny quickly. Leopolds also can ping. I agree with you that almost all the geekhack group buys are Leopold compatible. But not all of them are.

What do you mean by ping issues? What exactly is the problem?

Many (all?) plate-mounted keyboard will exhibit a soft, resonant ringing sound if you slam the keys hard enough. From what I've read, a small percentage of them will ring noticeably even with normal typing. For a while it was thought that only brown switch Filcos had this problem, but other keyboards (including the Leopold) have been shown to ping as well. Not sure about other switch colors. I've never noticed pinging on my blue switch Filco under normal typing conditions.

Ok, thanks, hadn't heard about that. I tried to google but all that came up was some boards increasing the ping in certain games lol.

I'm considering a wasd keyboard. Any of the guys who bought one got some feedback to share?

Compared to a 6gv2, is ta wasd keyboard worth the extra money, even if I choose black switches?

I just got one, really like it.
Walking past my computer and seeing the awesome keyboard I designed is so, so great.
Compared to my Filco, the casing of the WASD is slightly bigger and feels a little bit cheaper. But both feel high quality.
Also the engraved keys are only visible on some colours and in some light conditions, definitely less visible than my printed filco. But who looks at keys anyway

6gv2 vs WASD:
6gv2 has media keys (though you can download software allowing you to bind keys on the WASD to do the same thing) and the 6gv2 is cheaper.
WASD lets you make your own custom key colours and engraving as well as choose from any switch.

So basically the question is do you want to pay for the customisation?
