Black on white PBT sets are really hard to find in my experience, and as far as I know no company in the US sells PBT sets at all. imtso and qtan on geekhack act as resellers from Asian suppliers though, at reasonable prices. Last I looked they do have gray on white.

As I'm sure many of you know getting a mechanical keyboard with the right language layout etc can be really hard, with that I would like to point your attention towards this website

If you scroll down a bit on that site there is a section for keyboards with foreign layouts.
It seems that they mostly deal with Filco's though, other than that Steelseries 6Gv2 and 7G is easy to get in most european countries, either at Steelseries website or at a local electronics shop.
Hopefully this was helpful to some of you

For people still undecided on which switch type to choose, here is something that might help:
Deskthority WASD Try-Boards

It's an initiative to send around a package of mini-keyboards with different switch types for everyone to try. Each person recieves the package, tries out the switches, writes a review, then mails it on to the next person on the list.

I believe there are other packages circulating in the US. Have a look around on the website, it's full of great information on mech keyboards.

Wow, corsair just released 2 mechanical keyboards with mx cherry reds.

I don't quite like the look but it seems like the cheapest keyboard available with reds.

So i went to the WASDkeyboards site to order custom keycaps.. and for some reason the end cost came out to $59.99, when i only ordered 30-ish key caps which are supposed to be a dollar each. O.o?

Well, I see three obvious causes:

1) You are bad at math
2) You are bad at reading
3) Their shop system made a mistake

As you can't really check 3, I'd try to test 1 and 2.
If you checked them twice and had another person check them for you again, I'd contact WASDkeyboards that their shop might be broken.

It looks quite nice without the red keycaps. Is there any info on other layouts than US?
I know most of the keyboards are US layout, but hey, maybe Corair has mercy with the rest of the world and offers something else.

edit1: After clicking through all the pictures on anandtech, there will be an EU layout. But I don't know which one it is or if there will be even more.

According to that the corsair vengeance k60 has spare normal keycaps if you don't want the red. They're hidden in the wrist rest.

Do I actually need that tool that I've seen on some stores if I want to change keycaps on my Filco Majestouch? Or can they be removed in any other fashion?

Yeah I yank 'em out with my fingers or use a knife/scissors to get under the keycap to lift it up. Its probably safer to use keycap puller, but my method has worked fine for me.
EDIT: I have a Filco btw

So after reading through this thread and checking various links, it appears that Cherry MX Red mechanical switches would suit me the best by far. However, it seems like there's not a lot of keyboards with those. In fact, the only one I managed to find for now is this: http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=leopold,fullsize&pid=fc500rrab And it costs over 150 dollars if we include shipping to Finland.

Would there be any european retailers that have relatively cheap Cherry MX Red switch keyboards?

The keys can bend pretty far to the side before the cap comes off the switch, if you use something like a screw driver to prop up the key-cap from one corner. I was afraid to break a switch off like that, so I would say you need a special tool, but you can build it yourself easily in a minute with stuff like paper clips.

Yea, floss works fine. Just tape two loops together and boom, in-house key cap puller.

I used a rubber band to take off my keycaps. It works but you have to make sure you keep one hand above the key. First time I tried it the rubber band flung the key up towards the ceiling and across the room... lol.
