thanks for all the responses.

choices are narrowed down to the leopold tenkeyless otaku
and wasd custom keyboards.

with blue switches are there major difference between blues and clears?

Yes, the clears have more resistance, and are tactile and non clicky... blues are lighter but are tactile and clicky.

Clears are basically browns, with clears being heavier, and having a slightly more pronounced "bump". I am in the process of making ergo clears,,, which will be as light as browns, but as tactile as clears. So far so good, feels amazing, best switch I think

browns have very little tactility in my opinion, they are very light too

Enter EPIC30 for a discount. I'm not sure if it works still or not though. Good luck.

cherry blacks are not good for typing, id get a razor with blues, if u want cheap but good for games and typing. Since you are in school you will be doing a lot more typing than gaming, blues for sure. or the new widow thats coming out has browns.

Hello, Liquiders

I am currently in the market for a brand new keyboard. Now which keyboard I should buy. I play Starcraft for fun and I also type a lot. I was thinking of the Razer Blackwidow any ideas would be a huge help. Thanks

Nah bugger that, unless you need macros or backlight keys.

Get a leopold from PCCG

Same price, but you can choose any switch and don't have any of the quality issues of the BW.

I use blue switches for SC and typing, but if you cant have your keyboard making noise (alot of noise) then maybe brown?

Leopold is 40 dollars more than BW.. Idk if that is exactly the "same price"

Normally you would be right. But for some reason PCCG is selling them at the same price. Exactly the same price.

Here is one in swedish as well if you want to translate.
http://www.sweclockers.com/recension/14302-mionix-zibal-60

Seems like a fairly good but pretty expensive one compared to what you can find of similar quality.

From what google translated for me, that review is even worse than the other two. Just the information you can read on the mionix website and some pictures paired with some general knowledge about (mechanical) keyboards. It seems to me they didn't even have the keyboard. They just wrote this from the press information out there.

And 120€ aren't that much if you compare to DAS, 7G, Majestouch 2 or Black Widow Ultimate, as the Zibal 60 seems to have some advantages on paper. Not glossy, USB and I/O on the back side, LED illumination, several EU layouts, lasered imprint.
Sure, the other keyboards do have some of these things as well. But not a single one all of them. Except the Zibal 60.

They are either glossy, have the USB ports on the side where you have the mouse, are only available in US layout, don't have LED, have pad printing or sometimes even bad production quality with the attachment of individual keys or uneven height of keys.

The quality part is of course the one we have to read from reviewers that actually have the keyboard and do appropriate testing.
But already on paper it has superior features and does cost about the same money as the others. Doesn't really look expensive to me at all.

Uhm there was a big youtube version of the review right at the top where they are physically handling the keyboard. It's hard to miss, translation or not. I agree that the written version was a bit sparse but they defiantly had the keyboard in hand. They site is one of the go to places for Swedish enthusiasts so they usually know what they are talking about.

And when I say expensive all I meant was that if you want keyboard with black switches there are better and cheaper choices. If you value the backlighting and usb ports maybe you could say it's a decent price but I'm hard pressed to.

The video doesn't show up for me. As I don't have YT cross site requests blocked so it seems they embedded it a little weird. Is there any additional information in it?

But how come there are better and cheaper keyboards if there isn't any real test of the Zibal 60 out yet to probe that? And as I said before: From the datasheet the Zibal 60 seems to be better than pretty much any other, while being in the same price range. Same price - more or better features. That's not what I'd classify as expensive but as cheap.

I'm still hoping for a test, where they dismantle the whole thing, give us a direct comparison to other keyboards and talk about the quality of material, production and fitting accuracy.

I'll reserve my judgement till a more seasoned mechanical reviewer tests it. Nice to see a decent looking LED board on the market though.

As I expected, it's almost a carbon copy of the structure of the Meka G1. He gives it a 9/10 though, so that aint bad.

I wasn't sure where to best post this, but I wanted to share it. Seems that on New Egg US you can get the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate incl the Starcraft 2 mouse for $115:

I wish it was available in Canada as well...

I don't trust a product named after a game, even if it is SC2... just look at the reviews for the mouse, also the Black Widow is normally $80, keyboard + mouse = $115, so you are paying 35 for a sub-par mouse..

I don't even consider a razor keyboard worth it, there products have typically been faulty for me, and other mechanical keyboards have had much better reviews than the black widow, such as Ducky, Filco, Das, and others....

Hello TL!

I browse these types of threads often and I know some people have had questions about our MEKA line of keyboards, so I figured I'd introduce myself as the liaison directly between Tt eSPORTS and the community =D. Let me know if you have any questions!
