I type a lot with my blacks and I love it. You can't just say that they're bad for typing cause it's not your own preference.

Leopolds are $109 at elitekeyboards.com. Newegg will be restocking Rosewills soon, probably at $99. Both are excellent keyboards and available with blue switches. They also both have detachable cables and are more traditional looking (i.e., no super-shiny finish and "space age" font like the Das has).

Some people do like blacks for typing. But most don't.

i have both and while i gotta say my clears and especially blues are more satisfying to type on, i dont mind the blacks and would type on them over a membrane/scissor keyboard any day

I'm going to buy a leopold keyboard soon and I still don't know if I want to get blue or brown switches ive' read lots of threads and still don't have much of a clue @_@, I've seen so many people praise blue/brown that I don't know what to choose. help me lol

Just got a Filco Majestouch with Cherry Blues in it. Personally extremely happy with it. Within a week I am already in near physical pain at having to type on stock keyboards in my university library :p

really the only big difference is the auditory feedback of the click. so if noise is an issue(people sleeping in the same room as you,) they might be a no go, although i dont find them that loud. 2 small difference is that blues are a bit more tactile so the bump is a tiny bit more pronounced

Ducky is at least as good quality as Das, they offer tankeyless keyboards for 80 (no numpad, thus shorter) and standard keyboards for around 110, I believe they have some with blue switches in stock... pretty good price.
Ducky is a Chinese brand, like filco, but this site imports the keyboards to be sold in the U.S.
I am eagerly waiting my tankeyless ducky keyboard w/ blue switches form that site (:

I can't give a definitive yes or no answer, however this has been brought to our attention many times before. I will say that it's possible ^_-

I'm really looking for a mx brown right now, rarely hear bad things about it. A filco seems to be the optimum choice but if I can get by with a lower priced keyboard I wouldn't mind, anyone have any suggstions?

Leopold they have full size keyboards as well for the same price, afaik they are made by same guys that make Filco keyboards. cheaper I think?

Leopolds were designd by the same guy who designed the Filco... except for the Leopold he fixed the flaws that were in the filco and made it better.
They are not made at the same location though.

As has been said, the noise is the biggest difference. Browns can be quite loud too, however, if you type hard and bottom out. The tactile difference is small but still quite noticeable (to me, at least). When I'm typing fast on browns I don't really notice the bump like I do on blues.

I chose to buy a Filco over a Leopold mainly for aesthetic reasons. I like the Filco's sharper lines, and I dislike the Leopold's ugly logo and the fact that its lock lights (caps lock, num lock, scroll lock) are embedded in the keys. Also Filcos are slightly easier to buy special keycaps for on places like geekhack.
That said, I do envy the Leopold's detachable cable.

the tenkeyless version does not have a logo at all.. and really the sharper edges, unless you are 8 years old, u shouldnt even be looking down at the keyboard anyhow, and I actually love how the caplock light, has a LED in it... Also No ping issues with leopolds, which are known to plague the filcos....
