and skyR did misread the wall-of-text-hw-log incorrectly (as you can see when the exact SS of his HW Monitor was posted) which is understandable since it was a wall of text. But they are correct in the sense that cores can have different temperatures. hemp was just too hostile.

(30 for menu screen and 60 for ingame for example) Edit: Either with VSync or via Variables file? Edit 2: I had overheating issues with my laptop, and setting my laptop's max fps for Sc2 down helped.

It sounds like your entire system is getting pretty hot. Did anything significant happen before you started experiencing overheating? Are all your fans working properly? How many do you have? Is your case well ventilated and free of obstructions (i.e. dust, cables blocking airflow, case out in the open, etc.)? What is the ambient temperature of the room the computer is in?

I know my brother is a dumbass and watches who knows how many Let's Play from Machinima (when I keep telling him to just save up and buy the games himself).I played normally last night and the night before. Today it just crashed like crazy... I turn my air conditioning on and its always on full blast in my house (about 60-70?) I'm gonna change where the computer is (it's in between teh couch and the desk) and I'm gonna see how that works.

Erm I have an extra cooling fan in addition to the one in the power supply and processor. I don't have compressed air right now so I have to wait for that... I've been dusting my computer with a featherduster (rofl i know)

The CPU temperature's not high enough to cause crashes by itself on a stock-clocked system, although it may be a sign of high case temperatures which could cause other components to fail.

Agreed with this. Dell desktops in enterprise situations run in worse situations than your system so I'm definitely sure its not overheating bringing your computer down. Hell, people were running old ATi Radeon cards fine close to 100 degrees, granted manufacturing processes from then and now have changed a lot but you get the point - its very hard to actually make a desktop shut and throttle itself due to heat. Especially if its doing this during load, where you are drawing the most power, but this is just a hypothesis. I hate diagnosing computer hardware because its literally impossible to do without spare hardware lying around. So what is your proposed solution? Open the case? You can try but its probably going to do jack shit because temperatures are probably not your problem because 70 degrees load is nothing. If your GPU is hitting 73c @ 1280 x 1024, the temps will be even higher at higher resolutions How would it. If a card is at load, its at load and its going to put out the same temperatures no matter what resolutions are provided the load stays roughly the same which it should.

I'll run it through the person and thanks for confirming that its not an overheating problem =D

In Killing Floor, with vsync on, my GPU fans don't even go above 40%, without it, it sounds like a motorcycle drag race when it hits 300+ FPS.

My GPU does it too whenever I boot up STALKER or Crysis when those intro scenes get like 1000FPS. Nah, my fans actually spin up. It works harder when it's rendering 5x the frames. I've checked with EVGA precision OSD.

I'll open the case and try and listen for the noise.
