How are you holding it on the right side of the mouse, thats what really gets me
Doesn't rly seem to matter for me as long as both fingertips are making contact 100% of the time and positioned well relative to the thumb (worst case i'm putting force on the rear of the mouse behind the center of mass and it's trying to spin to the left instead of moving right, but that rarely happens after i got used to it a bit)
I'm struggling to control 1050dpi at times because it's too easy for me to move the mouse w/ low weight and good grip. Higher DPI = more emphasis on fine finger movements, lower DPI = more waving mouse shell around
When i say DPI it's just for pixels per inch of movement for desktop use, sc2, osu etc where you're moving a cursor on a pixel grid - it's better to describe FPS sensitivity in a unit like cm/180 instead (as you can get the same cm/180 with either 400dpi or 3200dpi..) and my grip and usage styles are waaaay different for FPS anyway.

I use two fingers on the right side of the mouse. The ring finger does most of the job but often the pinky gets involved a good bit.
I think the particular grip that the hand goes into when my mind asks for best control is with the pinky curled into a hook shape and grabbing the right side of the mouse in the back. The hand then grabs the mouse at an angle and the back of the mouse is turned away from the thumb's base and towards the pinky.
My hand is touching the mouse pad a lot. The whole length of the thumb is always on the mouse pad, the palm heel is on it, and one or two finger tips from pinky and ring finger.
+ Show Spoiler [not really important] + What exactly the two fingers are doing on the right side of the mouse depends on what my hand likes to do at the moment. The angle I use to hold the mouse changes and I sometimes turn the back of the mouse more towards the base of the thumb. The pinky is then not as much involved in using the mouse. Sometimes I turn the back of the mouse more towards the right and then the pinky gets involved more.
The pinky is sometimes together with the ring finger towards the front of the mouse. When I do more of a claw shape with the fingers, the pinky goes towards the back of the mouse. Sometimes I keep the hand pretty flat with the fingers stretched out and the back of the mouse shifted towards the thumb, and then the pinky has no room on the right side and is just resting on the mouse pad next to the ring finger.

Played some more, including 2 solid hours of CSGO deathmatch. Little progress. Can hit some nice shots now because I'm well used to the weight and buttons at this point, however really can't get a grip on the shell at all. Had some more luck gripping higher, though normally I'm very much a fingers along the pad person. No extra, opposing drag friction from the pad helps reduce the issues I'm having getting friction on the side of the mouse.
I've been googling and loads of people seem to agree with my POV here. Loads of "slippage" issues with the surface.
1. My hands don't usually get sweaty and I still experience slippage issues with the side portions of the G Pro. • Coating is no where near as nice as the G403 or Zowie in general. I loved the coating of the G403 personally.
Also dry hands, don't sweat really, G pro is quite slippery for me.
Dry hands here, the G pro sides are extremely slippery for me, the "grainy" plastic is super smooth and super hard to get a grip.
Why did they use such slippery textured plastic for a fingertip grip mouse?
It's not very grippy whatever it is.
I find it slippery and uncomfortable to grip
G Pro is the first mouse I've owned that I can legitimately say it makes my hand feel oddly sweaty or that slippage texture to it.
coating is slippery when my hands are dry
The G pro was a marvelous piece, of hardware but I couldn't hold it properly because of the sides sadly. Couldn't get a grip of it at all in tense situations.
Think I'm gunna bail on trying to use this mouse, on day 4 of solid usage atm. I've used loads of mice in the past and I've never had such little progress learning a shape, feels like a problem not an inexperience. Not like I can L2Friction.

I base all my FPS sens relative to CSGO sens 1. So for example when I say I use 800 dpi in CSGO and 1600 in say sauerbraten, I'm using 1 sens in CSGO and 0.725 sens in sauerbraten, so my dpi*sens is double. Anyway 51cm 360 CSGO, half in Quake, Sauer etc. You can see why I want to bring back capital punishment for companies who insist on braided cables.
I used to always have the same cm/360 in every shooter but decided that was impractical. However I try keep it at multiples because I'm used to Zowie mice with their predetermined DPI steps and I'd rather just change the setting on the mouse than take my chances with shitty ingame sensitivity code.
Wish there was some standardisation of sensitivity in games. At least CS and Quake are the same but that's probably due to Source being a distant descendant of the quake engine rather than any cooperation.
Might give the Revel a shot again, now I've got some replacement feet for it. Else, oh well; back to the FK2 and anticipating the Mastermouse S.

So now that the Kone Pure Optical is discontinued, what's the closest option to replace it? The new Kone Pure Military mice are too ugly-looking for my wife.
|
If you like palm gripping a kinzu sized mouse, the FK2 is amazing.
|
my mico having issues where it'll suddenly have me looking at my feet in Overwatch--any mico users convert to anything new and currently in production?
else I might end up paying an exorbitant price for one (sketchy ebay or taobao listings for $135), I'm even considering transplanting different hardware in a mico, if I can get a second one.
(not sure if appropriate here, but would also be interested in buying any 2nd hand micos around, semi-functional or not to try transplants with)

I've gotten quite used to the g pro and am still loving it (aside from few minor issues) - was slightly concerned about grip material at first but it's a nonissue for me using ~1100dpi now (basically DPI = the same as vertical screen resolution, 1920x1080 for a medium sensitivity)

Loving the mastermouse S. Even just 5 mins into an FPS game and 10 mins after unboxing my accuracy is probably double what I was getting after a week of trying the G Pro. The texture on the mouse is insanely grippy. Cable is pretty stiff though.

Just got my mastermouse. Very grippy indeed, but the right mouse button is mushier and softer than the left msouse button? kind of like the Deathadder. Really dislike it. Also, the cable is pretty atrocious. Apart from that, from what I've played with it so far with a fingertip grip and 800DPI, seems pretty solid.

I think I'll buy another mouse, I like the Zowie FK1 but the Huano switches are a bit too stiff for SC2 (especially splitting) and it's a bit tiring for LoL, so I'll probably only use it in OW.
Is this list http://on-winning.com/flawless-sensor-mouse-list-perfect/ accurate regarding sensors? Is there a mouse with good sensor similar in size (not necessarily shape since I don't mind a right-handed mouse or ambidextrous) to the FK1? Like, not smaller than the FK1, neither bigger than the Deathadder, but in between would be fine (with a slight preference towards more FK1-like size). Oh and of course with Omron switches / not too stiff left/right clicks, and two side buttons on the left side!
Thanks in advance. In the meantime I'll look at the mice you've been talking about in the last few pages since some seem new (logitech g pro, finalmouse, mastermouse, etc...)

There's also a Logitech G203 you might want to add to your list. It is the G Pro shape and buttons, but it has a different sensor and is a lot cheaper.

Yeah, G Pro seems too expensive. MasterMouse S seems a bit small as well as the G203. Between both I guess I'd rather go with the Logitech? MasterMouse Pro L is a more expensive but has dimensions similar to the FK1 and can be changed to slightly smaller which would be the best I guess? I'll try to test them in a shop or something.
What sensor is best between MM S PixArt3330 and G203 "Mercury"? (since both are the same price and almost same dimensions)

What would be the "best" modern fingertip-grip mouse (similar to logitech mini optical or zowie mico)?
1. What's your grip style? Fingertip 2. What's your sensitivity? 6/11 in Windows. Resolution is 1920x1080 3. What's your maximum budget? Doesn't matter 4. Do you want additional buttons? Doesn't matter 5. What games do you play? Starcraft Broodwar 6. Do you mind angle snapping? Doesn't matter 7. Other relevant information: Small handed, right handed. Prefer smaller mouse. Favorite mice are: Logitech Mini Optical; Zowie Mico; Logitech G1. Tried Razer Abyssus for a year, felt a bit big (or tall) and a bit cheap (not very good precision/accuracy/control maybe).

I was in a very similar situation to you. Get the Logitech G Pro. Best mouse out there. I had used the g1 for many years, moved onto the g100s, then now the G Pro. I love me some light, ambidextrous mice.

You can try the Roccat Lua. Simple 3 button mouse. Similar sizewise to the logitech mini optical. Sensor might not be that good but for BW that should be okay. Been using it for the last few years now.

1. What's your grip style? Fingertip 2. What's your sensitivity? 800 dpi 3. What's your maximum budget? Price isn't important 4. Do you want additional buttons? Doesn't matter, don't really need anything else aside from left and right click 5. What games do you play? League of Legends, Overwatch, any big release game 6. Do you mind angle snapping? Not sure what that is, if its bad I don't want it lol 7. Other relevant information: First mouse I had was a razer salmosa and I loved it until its death. After they stopped making it I got the g100s and I loved it since it was roughly the same as the salmosa, but the left click dies on the mouse too quickly and after going through 3 mice in the past 2-3 years, I want something different that hopefully won't give me such a headache down the line. Any suggestions based on the previous form factor of my previous mice?

logitech g pro no brainer

After trying the G203, well yea getting a G Pro is just silly. They're the same mouse, if anything the G203 has fixed some of my complaints with the G Pro and is half the price. Now I think my G Pro had some build issues with texture and clicks comparing it to the G203, it was a very early batch.
I still think the G203 / G Pro is not the perfect shape however at half the price, a really good rubber cable, nice coating, nice clicks. Meanwhile on the downside... just nothing, the G203 uses logitech's own new inhouse sensor which is a great competitor to the 3360, only difference being lower max DPI but yea, 6k is more than enough for anyone. Still think the FK2 is closer to the ideal shape for me but the heavy clicks of the Zowie really have been causing me issues in RTS games.
Only had the G203 for a day but I'm playing far better than I ever did on my (obviously in hindsight) clearly defective G Pro. I'm going to try to make it my main mouse, we'll see.
All in all between the great components, pretty safe shape and the price I think the G203 should just be a go-to recommendation basically regardless of whatever preferences someone might have.
Mastermouse lost its charm. It's a near perfect mouse let down by just being a half arsed product. There's no way in hell anyone designing that thing decided that cable or those skates were as good as they could get. Assuming Thalandros' problem is QC not adjustment as well, assuming lower than average build quality. It's still a mouse I play some of my best with but, well yea god that cable is terrible, so bad as to put every other cable into perspective for me really. Meanwhile the skates have such friction that playing an FPS at low sens is actually fairly loud from the scraping noises. A good quality Mastermouse with aftermarket cable and skates could be a really good mouse. Yet another case of a mouse company shooting themselves in the foot imo.
I will probably end up back with the FK2 as per usual. However I've talked some shit about the G Pro and the G203, so I owe it a fair shot. Still ultimately I feel shape is the most important thing and the FK2 is gunna win on that I feel.

Thanks for the feedback! I haven't bought the G203 I wanted to buy yet (had to spend more elsewhere and still my FK1 runs fine so I felt a bit bad), but I also find myself hindered by FK Series stiff clicks in sc2 (and a bit in LoL but I don't care that much on this game)... Like super fast boxing is really hard on the FK1, middle finger is not accustomed to click fast on stiff switches, so TvZ is tricky with that mouse. I have big hands so I'm not so sure about the shape of the G203 (the mouse is recent so I didn't find it for test in shops :/) but the clicks will be better and the sensor good enough. The price is cheap enough so I don't feel too bad about buying yet another mouse in spite of having one perfectly functional.
I guess if I can test it a bit I'll pull the trigger.
