I'm thinking about getting the g400s. Are there any similar defects with this mouse before I buy a mouse whose defect is known to 90% of its users?

Easy solution blast loud noises into your ears until you're unable to hear that frequency anymore. It's probably ceramic cap noise powering the LEDs turn off the LEDs if you can see if the noise goes away or maybe the pooling rate as well only thing i can think of it they are pulsing LEDs on so if you can set it always on things may change. If you can hear that you probably hear things like choke whine and cap whine in general unlucky or lucky for you? Either way you're in the small segment of the population that can still hear at that frequency, you'll lose it with hearing damage and age!

Not yet ) If you splashed liquids around, something might have gotten into the mouse? The hardware might still be okay and dirt is causing the problems. I'd definitely try opening it up, take the mouse wheel out and try to see how to clean the parts that track wheel movement. You could try alcohol and a brush and that might work well for cleaning, but I don't know if it's okay to not afterwards use some sort of special grease. There's cleaning products for electronics sold in spray cans that are mostly alcohol and won't cause things to degrade because they'll leave some sort of protective film after the alcohol evaporates.

Shoutout to Goliathus control, I have mistreated that mousepad to almost every extend and it's still doing fine. Just want to test out a new combination. QcK mass looks very comfy. It's all about personal preference. Of all the ergonomic ones I tested not one was more comfortable than the standard basic layout. That's reason why I went with the Sensei; it's fairly large and the hand can be more relaxed when you hold it compared to smaller mice. Couple that with the RAW surface and you have, in my eyes, the perfect mouse design (disregarding the technical aspects).I like the simplistic approach over some fancy curved designs. Idk know why I haven't thought of doing that. Cheers to you ! :D When I had it all apart and cleaned I thought of doing some pictures of the process. Too bad I didn't capture the dirty pics, basically there were hair around the inner mouse wheel and all around the pcb, not that many but definetely some. I cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol and re-assembled it. Works perfectly now. Taking off the gliders to reveal screws unscrewing the top part removing the PCB and cleaning it all (always touch radiator to discharge and work with gloves if possible) And heres the mouse wheel tracker that had some dirt on it. No new mouse for me. Not yet

Anyways, the cause of the problem is explained in this video. I did try it a while back and it worked, but this mouse is almost 5 years old with minor clicking issues so I figure it's time for a new mouse. My main concern was that I'd have to do this fix again with the g400s.

If it's real and you ask Logitech for advice, they will help you and send you a new mouse if it's not that old.

Minus some aesthetics, the difference is that the 7000 has no removable weights in it, which the 5000 does

I don't know why, but I liked the 5000 with all the weights in it. But I think I'll get used to the 7000 anyway

There is one issue that is really annoying me however... When I am playing SC2, I am used to double clicking on a particular unit to select every unit like it in the vicinity (e.g. double clicking marines to select all to stim and run away from banes, so the other units tank the damage). For some reason it is actually hard to double click with the Rival... This wasn't an issue at all with my last mouse (a $15 logitech) Has anyone experienced anything similar to this or know what settings I should look at? It wouldn't have anything to do with DPI settings would it? I didn't see where it can be adjusted in the SteelSeries Engine software so I played around with the windows control panel settings but this doesn't seem to have helped... Clarification: it just simply doesn't double click when I click twice, like it isn't registering two clicks even though I get the tactile feedback that I did

Edit : forget the switch thing if you get double click tactile feedback, it has to be a problem with the double click speed settings I guess

Otherwise you should look into double click speed settings, I don't remember if the steelseries driver has a slider for it though, there is one in windows but you seem to have tweaked it already. You should definitely control click rather than double click though, I find it way better as it's a lot easier to do it on moving units Edit : forget the switch thing if you get double click tactile feedback, it has to be a problem with the double click speed settings I guess Yeah that it what I was looking into and it didnt seem to make a difference sadly :/ I'll keep seeing if I can tweak it Thanks for the tip tho! I guess I may just have to get used to doing that
