I would try the CM Storm which has been posted previously in the thread; it's similar in weight, design, and size. Ergonomically a claw mouse, with a good sensor.

@TheFlock:

You know... you should probably go and buy a Logitech G100s or maybe a Razer Abyssus. Buying one of the large mice seems risky as they are more expensive and you already know that something for fingertip-grip will work great for you.

If you want thumb buttons on a small mouse, there's the CM Storm Spawn that might be interesting. It has a strange shape and you might hate how your ring finger will be used on the mouse... or you might like it a lot. If you don't mind a mouse being very expensive, the Mionix Avior 7000 seems very good and you should feel at home using it because it's symmetric.

@TheFlock

G502 looks bigger than it really is the only button that actually gets in the way is the sniper button and that often depends on how you grip it and how big your hands are but it is a 120g mouse. People either love or hate the freescroll wheel as well. In click mode what people use for gaming it's often lackluster in comparison.

That being said Corsair M45 90g, Mionix Avior 7000 100g, Steelseries Rival 105g. They don't use the G502's sensor but they use something similar not as good but still very good. Personally Avior 7000>M45>Rival

Then you have older mice but can be cheap like logitech G100s. G100s is 83g but you can remove an internal weight to make it 70g(which is frankly too light the mouse doesn't feel planted at the weight). iirc Coolermaster Xornet ~80g has basically the same sensor and is cheap. Basically keep both mice at 500hz and 1000dpi or less and they track pretty perfectly. Both can be picked up for something around 20-30 dollars USD. Else i'd get one of the mice mentioned above.

All these mice favor quality cloth pads.

Not too sure what you're saying its inferior to...or how it's inferior.

Oh, it quotes a low max tracking speed. If the spec is true, sub-2m/s perfect control speed won't hold up to sharply moving 10-30cm+ for a 180

If it works "ok" then it's fine for most people. I just wouldn't expect it to hold up to abuse like the 3310 wired mice would - that's most of the reason they're good in the first place

Hello TL tech forum!

I have been thinking about getting a new mouse for a long time now, but i'm the type that likes to wait for my mouse to break to get a new one... Well after it has been clicking randomly in ladder games, I think the time has come.

Having done so much research before on different models and reading reviews, I'm having a hard time making a decision with so many options. So I was hoping the good people in this thread might have some advice to help me settle on one.

This will be my first gaming mouse purchase, having been perfectly happy playing casually with this little guy: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Corded-Mouse-M125-Silver/dp/B003JZCE7A/ref=pd_bxgy_e_img_y
I never had a problem with the size of it and it has served me well for years, however, I am looking to upgrade. Because of the size and weight I have gotten used to a claw/fingertip that is comfortable for me. So I have been looking into smaller, lighter mice (I am negotiable on this though). Also, I don't use macros or need to change DPI settings on the fly so I do not require an excess of buttons. A mid-range mouse that is comfortable and durable would be perfect.

People seem to like their deathadders right? I have been looking into those despite the bigger size
I got my brother a Mionix mouse that he seems to like
The G502 you all have been talking about seems pretty nice, but those buttons look like they might get in the way for me
I keep looking at the Roccat Kone or other roccat models and I'm not sure how it compares after reading the reviews

TL;DR First time gaming mouse buyer, used to small mouse, claw/fingertip style, looking at ^mice wondering if anyone has experience with them or recommendations (on others) based on personal use. THANKS!

Try the Razer Orochi. It's similar in size and can be used both wired and wireless.

Thank you for your suggestions! I had looked at the CM Storm before but I dont know anyone who tried one out. I'll take a look at the Logitech and the Mionix as well. I have liked all my other Razer peripherals so I'll check out the Orochi too. Now hopefully I can find some of these in a store near me

Well if I see it in a store I may see how it feels in my hand but I probably wont purchase it from a website, returning something would be annoying since I don't have a backup mouse. I'm not super picky, but I doubt I would use it wirelessly.

vaL4r has an older version of the Orochi i think and had quite a few problems with it, including (IIRC) issues with the sensor, responsiveness, and inability to use wired mode without a battery in it (which is heavy, and even if you want a heavier mouse, batteries are dense and give you a weird distribution of weight, or worse, messed up center of mass)

Hmm okay interesting, I'm not too interested in the Orochi anyway.

I think the Avior and the G502 are more than I want to pay right now. The SS Rival and the CM Storm Recon have been looking pretty good, possibly even the Spawn.

Out of curiosity? was there ever a poll of what mice everyone is using? It wouldn't be about which ones are the best but simply which mice are being used the most. I would find that interesting

Alright, my last question here concerning my current problem.

I've got people visiting the US in my family now, so free and awesome shipping from Amazon. That means I'll force myself to use it and actually buy something for once. xd So right now G400s's are $43 on Amazon and DA's are $51. I might look at the Rival even though it's gonna be a bit more pricey. Any other suggestions? I'll possibly also just try a CM storm Spawn considering they're so cheap. Any recommendations still? Especially from you Cyro, you think I'll do better with the 400s than the DA?

I'm currently weighing those two against each other. The DA seems to have a superior sensor but I've heard mixed opinions about how they are with the grip, while the 400s are purely built for palm too, apparently they're quite easy to claw/fingertip grip but the build quality is a bit off. I really dunno what I really should try now!
(I've noticed I quite often actually use a fingertip grip instead of claw grip, too. It varies a little.)

g400s vs DA is a lot about the shell, given my grip problems on DA i would probably try the 400s

deathadder is not exactly known for its build quality if that's your concern with 400s, i've seen way too many people reporting having chains of them (DA's) breaking in 3 months

$36 shipped for a spawn is insane value given that it's one of the best mice on the planet (lightweight fingertip/claw with decent sensor is worth the world to a lot of people, given the lack of good options) and there's even a $20 rebate on it, but that might not be of much use to you, depending on the circumstances

Unless you have the tiniest hands, stay away from the orochi.

I accidentally ordered a Goliathus Control (instead of Speed) from Newegg. Don't really want to go through the hassle of returning and ordering another one. Will my G9x track any differently on the Control Surface when compared to the Speed?

Don't think I'll be able to get the rebate, no. But yeah, 36$ still makes me very curious to try it even though the design doesn't really appeal to me. Thanks.

Hmm, would an Abyssus fit for me? as said I use claw/fingertip mostly, I'm just worried about the size. I have slightly bigger than average hands. Any experience? :D

A mouse can't really be too small for me for a fingertip grip. My hands are about 19cm or 19.5cm from tip of the middle finger to the start of the wrist.

The Abyssus works great. I like that it's shaped to be lifted very easily with only fingertips. It feels overpriced to me. Any cheap Logitech feels like it's built better.

The Logitech G100s works great. I don't know if I like its mouse wheel.

Steelseries Kana V2 is also not large, has good sensor and is good for fingertip grip and I really like its shape. The mouse wheel never makes errors like jumping back one step. It has a single thumb button on each side. The mouse also feels built better to me than the Abyssus. The Kana "V2" you can't buy in the US, only EU and Asia.

The shape of the CM Storm Spawn and Xornet I can't use. When lifting, it has to be gripped between thumb and pinkie and the ring finger can't help at all. That makes it uncomfortable for me. I really like that the mouse buttons are very easy to trigger compared to Abyssus.

You'd choose by the shape your hand likes best.

You can if you pull it towards the middle of mouse. If you're just pressing down, you can't. I found it much easier to lift than Deathadder.

Your thumb obviously has awesome grip, but then your fourth finger is pushing against your thumb from the ridge - and your pinky has great grip on the rubber on the right side - it might be harder to do this using claw grip instead of fingertip, but then you have the palm contact point to help too
