1. What's your grip style?
fingertip/claw

2. What's your sensitivity?
Medium

3. What's your maximum budget?
$60

4. Do you want additional buttons?
I don't need them, but a few extra is ok.

5. What games do you play?
SC2, Dota2

6. Do you mind angle snapping?
No

7. Other relevant information:
My previous two mice were the Salmosa and the Death Adder. I find the Death Adder to be too heavy and big, so I'm looking for something closer to the Salmosa. I'm not really interested in extra features/drivers/etc., a simple mouse is fine.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826570012

ridiculous price, out of stock because of that but you can probably find somewhere else if it doesn't come back in

Since "Medium" is subjective, i'l assume that either the 800 step, or the 1800 one (which is actually ~1600 IIRC) would work for you. You seem pretty close to me here and the shell+sensor combination is hard to beat

It was something silly like $12.99 after a $20 rebate with free shipping lol

was @$19.99 after a $20 rebate for ages on newegg, but surprisingly sold out now. Maybe it's Spawn v2 time? Been waiting like a year for it, though.

Xornet still works if cheap is the thing. It seems to be solid enough, though i'm a little hesitant to open up an FPS and run 30cm/180 with it. It's $25 with a $12 rebate and $2 shipping on Newegg.com, though i'd pay extra for spawn sensor

Zowie MiCO if you like the Salmosa shape and weight. The MiCO is a solid mouse that a lot of SC2 progamers use. Dunno what you mean by "medium" sensitivity but the MiCO comes with 400 DPI, 800 DPI, and 1600 DPI that are adjustable on-the-fly.

TBH a lot of sc2 progamers use trash mice

Mico is pretty good if you're not using it for low sens FPS, only real problem AFAIK is the jump bug, which some people scream about and some people don't even notice (cursor will just randomly jolt like 10 pixels to the right sometimes)

Thanks for the recommendations. I've decided to go with the CM Storm Spawn.

Is there any special configuration that I should do with this mouse once I get it? On another site, I briefly read something about firmware versions and mouse pads, and I'm wondering if that's still an issue.

DL version 201 firmware off the site. Reduced lift off distance and VOIP bugs... I feel like the mouse is also more accurate o_O

Damn yeah the new firmware kicks ass, 1.5mm LOD from 4+ and the cursor indeed feels a bit more responsive oddly

What a coincidence you guys are talking about the spawn. I had a spawn myself but had to rma it (it would randomly disconnect for a few seconds during gaming). I rma'ed it and was told they no longer have the spawn in stock. They offered me a recon instead. Are the sensors similar feeling? How about the overall shape of the mouse? I loved the claw grip of the spawn, it seems like the recon is semi claw? Also, what are the optimal settings in terms of dpi, polling rate and firmware rev? Thanks in advance.

I had a G100S which I was actually pretty fond of, but the left click has been acting up (non responsive), does anyone have any recommendations for mice similar to it, around $20-$60 (the cheaper the better).

Thanks!

Thanks!

I'll look into it, looking at the Steelseries Sensei/Rival, and CM Storm Xornet/Spawn also

Sensor is a 3090 too yeah, it seems pretty good as a claw mouse too, but the shape is ambidextrous so pretty different. The native DPI steps on the spawn are 800, 1600 and 3600 I think, so you would want to keep the same on the recon, but you shouldn't need more than 800 dpi on 1080p. Dunno about optimal polling rate, I read about it a bit and some people seemed to be saying 500hz could be better sometimes but I couldn't find a good reason not to use 1000 as they didn't offer good justifications.

mico is less trash than many other mice, it works for 2d as long as you don't mind the jump bug

Logitech durability not what it used to be? Had two new logi mice fail on me within 6 months.I really don't believe them when they say the switches are rated to 10 million pushes as that is what failed on my mice after 6 months.Using MS now hopefully they are better.

Their gaming line uses the same switch everyone else uses, Omrons D2F variants Omrons D2FC-F-7N seems to be their popular choice, they're rated at 20mil presses up from the 10mil variant they first brought to market which w.e reason sold as 8mil the first couple years. Either way none of those switches are tested for click and hold, esp if you click and hold down hard, just clicks in rapid succession by a machine till failure.
