My g9x broke and I went with the Spawn a few months ago. The shape is really weird and hard to get used to but I think it's more comfortable to use in the long run. Though with the g9x I feel my mouse movement was a lot less confined. I think I like the sensor on the g9x better even though it's laser, but I think that might be to do with the grip and shape being different as well as the sensor placement.

I never really had an issue with the inconsistent sensor. All of those CS GO players use mice with the Avago 9500 and they all use low sensitivity which is supposed to make the ripple/acceleration more apparent (I know they are sponsored by steelseries though so eh). I never once felt I missed a shot because of it.

I really hope they re-release the g9x. The shape is absolutely perfect for sc2. I hope they come out with the g900x and scrap the idea of using grips and just refine the raw shape into an ambidextrous design and have one mouse with an optical and one with a laser. I would buy that in an instant...

hell yeah, i would instantly buy like 3-5 of those. really no idea why they don't have a replacement for it, it was/is popular as hell.

has anyone tried the steelseries kana? i've used a deathadder for left-handed in the past 3 years, but i would like to try a steelseries too. I find the sensei too expensive, so i'm unsure between the sensei [raw] and the kana. i'd like more than 3 buttons, so i'm not considering the kinzu an option (even though i really like its simple and clean look).

The Steelseries Kana is reportedly bad for some reason. There is a new Steelseries Kana V2 which is great (I'm using it). It's not sold in NA, I think.

You're definitely right, the V2 is not sold in NA, i just noticed it. And buying it in EU and having it shipped to italy to pick it up during the summer would become far too expensive, at this point why not getting the sensei instead..
I'll stick to the deathadder then (i like it but as i said i wanted to try something different).
cheers!

Hey Guys!
I'm using a Logitech G5 for like 6-8 years, and now i think it's time to replace it (the cable seems to be broken, it started to disconnect multiple times a day. i guess it could be fixed, but a new mouse can't hurt i guess I'm mostly playing Starcraft with a claw/fingertip mix and like 1000 dpi set up in the Logitech software. right handed, 2 side button would be nice.
I'm thinking about buying a Zowie EC2 Evo Pro. Would it be a nice replacement? Also can anyone point out whats the difference between EC2 Evo and EC2 Evo Pro? It seems to be a bit hard to get this mouse nowadays in Hungary, so i wanna make sure i buy the right (better) version. Also i remember reading things about the mice's sensor not working well on colored (not fully black) mouse pads. Any confirmation on this? I was thinking about buying a Steelseries Qck Frost pad, they would look awesome.
Try again, fail better.

there's EC2 and EC2 EVO, with the latter being the latest and better one. the EC2 had sensor issues. the sensor doesn't have any problems with coloured mouse mats.

I have one. It's a good 3090 sensor implementation. I've seen a mouse with 3090 that was seriously strange, and the Kana V2 isn't like that at all. Another 3090 mouse I tried that was good was the CM Storm Recon and the Kana V2 is like that.

The Abyssus with its 3888 feels more fresh or something, but I can't really tell what exactly is going on. I can't even tell if the Abyssus is better or worse at DPI where its sensor is good. The 3090 can create a mouse pointer that's a lot more stable at higher DPI. Dicking around in QuakeLive for a week, the aim wasn't any different. The "fresh" feel might be a good bit created by the shape and weight of the Abyssus. Overall, I use the mouse with better shape for me.

This was on a 60 Hz monitor.

I wonder why steelseries NA won't carry it.

Hi,
My five years old G700 starts to show its age, so it's time for a new mouse
I really liked the ergonomics of it, but I want to try a lighter mouse (with wire) this time.
After a long research I came to the conclusion that a optical sensor might be better for me than a laser sensor, but my G700 had a laser sensor and it has never been a problem.

1. What's your grip style?
Fingertip and I have large hands. (about 20 cm ~8 inches)
2. What's your sensitivity?
high. 1600 DPI. 5cm (about 2 inches) for 360°
3. What's your maximum budget?
I am sitting on my computer all day (not just for playing), so price doesn't really matter... but I think you dont have to pay more than 100€ for a good mouse.
4. Do you want additional buttons?
Yes definitely. 2 thumb buttons on the left side.
5. What games do you play?
Starcraft II
Battlefield 3/4
6. Do you mind angle snapping?
I don't want it.
7. Other relevant information:
I already did a long research (1,5 months :D) and also tried some mice in a local shop. These are my experiences:
Roccat Kone Pure: Surface feels amazing, BUT my pinkie and ring finger hurt a little bit
Roccat Kone XTD: Too big and it felt almost as heavy as my G700
Roccat Savu: Didn't like the surface
Razer Deathadder: Was impossible for me to hold with fingertip.
Logitech G500/400: For some reason my hand didn't like them.
Corsair M45: It was hard for me to reach the side buttons.

I am really looking forward to your suggestions

5cm (about 2 inches) for 360°

do you really FPS like this? Me and my friends use like 15-40cm for a 180 turn sens - only a few people i know that only turn by pivoting the wrist use such a high sens (2.5cm/180) in FPS

I think at that point for accuracy's sake (if you care) then it should be considered a bad habit to be broken, and that changes how you use mouse in FPS a lot. I have massive issues for using my DA on a game like sc2/osu or desktop with fingertip, where a sens of 1-3 inches to cross screen left-right is more typical, but it's much more natural for FPS, where if you're using the mouse more "correctly" i think, grip tends to be a lot different

Mmh... never thought about lowering my sensitivity. I am also turning only by pivoting the wrist, which is the way I play Starcraft.
To be honest I am not really interested in changing it, because I am satisfied with my performance in BF - sorry, but thanks for your input!

Starcraft should be the top priotity for choosing my new mouse Is 1600 dpi also stupidly high in SC2?

Nah, it's more normal. Mouse is used differently between turning in FPS engines and interacting with a 2d display like sc2 or windows desktop

I think a majority use overly high sens, but that's ~2x what i use as opposed to FPS where your sens is like >10x what i use

People who use higher DPI than 1600 must be toss players....no way is anyone splitting marines with that high sensitivity.

Good luck doing this too

1600 is very common across all races, i've seen high masters with 6400dpi and enhanced pointer precision on (massive negative+positive acceleration) but just nowhere near as good mechanically as those with better settings

Waving the mouse halfway across the screen in a fraction of a second and placing a chain of ~3-10 forcefields side by side with no overlap is something i rarely see from the best players in the world, so i wouldn't consider it easy with screwy mouse settings

Lets not go off topic however
