You cant change them without taking apart the mouse AFAIK. The old 3.5g deathadder is still a king, sensor-wise you dont stress mice nearly as much in an RTS enviroment compared to very low sens FPS (and even there, 3.5g deathadder was THE mouse to get)

Honestly the biggest factor in 3.5g vs 2013 for Starcraft 2 would probably be the little rubber grips on the side, neither model has problems with angle snapping, negative or positive acceleration, you wont come close to max control speeds on a 2d pixel interface (as opposed to 3d first person camera, where you could hit them if you use "very low" sensitivity and dont have the right settings (1800dpi step on the 3.5g, etc)) so you shouldnt run into any issues if you did choose to go with older model

Never tried to and don't know why you would like to risk it. You really think you would notice the difference between 2ms and 1ms response time?

I was just curious to see if anyone had done it and had any positive results. I know it doesn't make a big difference.
And I was also curious about whether the zowie mico can handle an overclock from 500Hz to 1000Hz. How do we know which mice can be overclock to this extent or not? (Eg. instability)

Hey guys, what is the best mouse for gaming? I have been using WMO for ALL my life. I know this is considered 1 of the best mouse but I kind of want a mouse that has side buttons for more keys. I am a competitive player and the WMO has the best shape for me. I also love the feel and sound of the clicks on the WMO. I play sc2, dota 2, and CS. I consider myself pretty competitive and I excel at all these games. I don't want any acceleration or any of that stuff, just PERFECT tracking.

There are so many choices out there but I don't know which one would be the best because I can't really test them out. I have tried the deathadder before and it's not really my cup of tea. It feels kind of weird and I do not like the clicks at all. My friend also has the mamba which I can test out. The mamba is the exact same shape as the deathadder right?

I am thinking about the g400, roccat savu and 1 of the zowie mice right now...help me out guys! Which one is the best? (Perfect tracking, feels amazing like the WMO)

Get the G400, Amazon was nice enough to send me 2 for the price of 1. It's the best mouse I've used.

Used Mx518, G5, Zowie Evo 2 and nothing compare to this perfection of a mouse.

I just wish it had tilt wheel.

There is no best mouse for gaming. Lots of mouse companies use the same high-end sensors. The only real difference amongst the top contenders are shape, weight, & feel. Look around for one with a good reputation that looks like the WMO & has side buttons.

Personally I think the Mionix Naos 3200 is the perfrect mouse, but it has only seven buttons (left click, right click, two middle buttons, scroll wheel, two side buttons), so it's probably not useful to you.

Anyone have any bad thoughts about the CM Storm Spawn mouse? I think it looks interesting and comparable to the size of the Zowie Mico mouse. I really like the Zowie Mico.

I've read a few people that owned it and liked it. Ergonomic shape might mean it's not the best lift-off mouse. Supposed to be nearly as good as the Mionix mice in terms of comfort though - but no pinky rest. Apparently you need to turn off angle-snapping/prediction in the driver somehow, so comb through the options.

It uses the Avago 3090 sensor, which is the best current optical sensor, so no worries there.

Like all optical mice its limited to certain DPI settings. It can do 800 dpi, 1800 dpi, & 3500 dpi. So there may be some issue if you prefer under 800 dpi. (The zowie mico, by comparison, does 400/800/1600 dpi & uses a sensor I'm not familiar with).

I went from Logitec Mini Optical (Rest in peace, I owe my BroodWar prowess to you :D) to this:

It recently broke, the leftclick pin to be precise. It has a very high hump at the bottom, leaving my hand at an uncomfortable angle, now since I'm playing masters players I went and done got a gaming mouse;

Regarded as the entry model the Roccat Lua mouse, this thing has dpi settings ranging from 250 to 2000. Size wise its about the same as the Logitec Mini Optical. The back hump isnt that high, it has a very pleasant arch, and the buttons are quite low so you can really let your fingers rest close to your mousepad. It has no moving parts, very solid built mouse.

I had the Kone before. But I honestly felt Roccat was a rip off brand in general. Anyone else got that feeling?
So much focus on the colors and cool videos. But the actual product doesn't live up to it. That's how I felt it.

Roccat's had some duds.

The Roccat Savu is pretty well-reviewed, however. (Based on the Avago 3090, top end optical sensor righ tnow, same as the Zowie Mico I mentioned above, though different DPI settings.)

Many versions of their laser line (the Kone) have been disasters, but the latest one (Kone XTD) is supposed to be at least a decent implementation of the Avago 9800 (top end laser sensor).

The CM Storm Spawn is nothing like the MiCO. It's designed for claw grippers in FPS games: short, but wide and rather heavy.

The MiCO has a Pixart sensor, not an Avago. Pixart PAN3305DK-H. And yes, the Roccat Savu is probably the best mouse Roccat has ever made. Still overpriced as most of their products IMO.

which is the most used pro gamer mouse that has 2 thumb buttons ( i need those cause I am used to it and have important functions on them:1. select idle worker; 2. go to next home base)

at the moment I use the g700 without batteries and a custom thin USB Cable... But somehow the sensor feels uncomfortable

I can do ~120 Points in the sc2gears Mouse training game http://www.abload.de/img/mausbung77uhb.jpg

which isnt too good also, i feel ~150 is the standard hits I should have also..

btw. what did Life use in the squid final in Paris?

and how often do you clean the mouse pad / mouse surface?

I bought a Razer Ouroboros, very expensive mouse but after almost 10 years of service, Razer diamondback, first optical mouse i wanted something new and wireless.

The Ouroboros is alot heavier but its not a big point, Now I can use more DPI and thanks to the heavier design (lighter then a RAT) i can control it more easy on higher DPI.
And also can use it wired without a battery but nahhhh, then I could better buy something else.

But after some mouse in my hands and did some testing.

Razer taipan, very light and good mouse, almost bought this one but didnt want to because it was wired.
Razer Mamba was like way to big and also the deathadder, dont like the designs.
Rats with wireless is horrible and also horrible heavy.

I actually wipe down my mousepad about once a week with a damp cloth. Granted I'm babying it cause the Hayate L is expensive, but this keeps it looking and performing as new (and hopefully will mean I'll have it for at least a few years). Once in a few months I'll actually use soap and a soft brush, but the more general maintenance I do, the less I'll have to do later.

There's a reason gaming mice are all wired. You don't have to worry about a bad wireless connection, random EMI interference, whatever, and as you found out... batteries are heavy.

Wired means having a guaranteed stable connection to the computer & not strapping big weights to the mouse (batteries) = wired better for gaming. The Razer wireless mice are about the only ones that can be recommended - only because they can be used as wired mice and not wireless.
