So I've just purchased my EU game key but am getting this message when trying to log in:
"This battle.net account does not include an associated copy of StarCraft II. Please log into Battle.net account management and add the game to your account."
The game is already showing in my battle.net account. The client is EU, same as the version of the game I purchased. Should I be worried about this or is it most likely a problem due to the digital download purchase only just opening up?
Cheers

I downloaded the eu version, got a boxed key and tried to install, get same error. I want to play!!
|
Same here. I guess it will take some time until the authentication servers have synchronized.

Strange I was able to activate my account and use the US EN digital installer with no problems at all.
If you guys have hard copy now simply uninstall the digital one and install from the disk. The servers are very much working.
|
Hum ... not liking that ! at all !
|
I'm getting the same thing. I'm sure it's evil Blizz execs laughing at my misery
|
Just noticed that even though my account shows Starcraft II as registered, going into the order history page of my bnet account shows the order as Queued. So, I guess theyre having a hard time processing all the new orders being made.

Yeah, must be massive load. Took 2 minutes for me to buy the game
|
I wanna play that game!! ~X(

Still not working

My ACCOUNT status is ACTIVE and i still cant play!!!! ~X(

I live in India and belong to the southeast asia region. But I want to play on the EU region.I am digitally purchasing the game and am there on the battlenet right now ... and they give me this warning
Game Region Warning
Retail copies sold in India (your account country) will connect to the Southeast Asia & ANZ game region.
Is this of much importance? I played the whole beta on the EU server and never had any problem. Plus the EU client is 20$ more than the US client.
Will my choice of playing on EU be a problem in the future till cross realm play is introduced?
|
|
The warning means If you buy the boxed version it will connect to the southeast asia& anz game region, but you can set whichever region you want when you buy it digitally, no? oh and i can't play the game yet either!
|
Same problem here, cant connect says association required but i already added my sc2 key on account 40 minutes ago :S
|
looks like blizzard may have screwed something up, my roomate got his digital copy working immediatly ... (we used the same installer, validate then license, after that he can log in, I can't)
|
Same problem here, bought the boxed game and added to account 2 hours ago, still doesn't work.

ok folks, I re entered all my account settings (address etc ...) and it s working now !

Try downloanding the digital copy from your battlenet account it might work

guys but shouldnt the US price and the EU price be the same??

What have you done exactly? I changed my password and the adress info, but that doesn't work for me.
I downloaded english version (EU v.) and bought boxed game at spanish (EU v.).
|
I thought you guys where joking, because changing the password and the address simple does not make sense. But I tried it anyway and it worked great!
Maybe changing the account data triggers the sync-process... just guessing...
|
Had the same having queued up to buy it at 9am (not risking it not arriving in the post). I tried changing my password which didn't work, but re-entering my address did. Now on to today's important business...

What did you change it from / to ?
|
Nothing works here
|
WOOOT changed my email again for the 4th time.. and BAM, i'm in!
|
Bah, can't change my email. I don't remember the answer to the secret question
|
Same problem here,
I mailed blizzard already
|
Same problem. Have tried changing everything associated to the account multiple times and am now sitting back waiting having emailed blizzard.
Edit: Okay so I'm suddenly in 30 seconds after posting this. Possibly a coincidence but what I did immediately beforehand apart from emailing blizzard was to change the communications preference language to something random change settings so I receive blizzard offers as this was disabled beforehand and then change it back to what it should be.
|
i have the same problems here. But none of the solutions work for me this far.
|
Changed mail about 5 times, changed communication preferences about 15 times and I still can't log in -___________-
|
Nothing works for me too.. seems like that's completely random.
|
I have tried to change my e-mail 4 times, and commun. prefs. around 2 times, but still not able to log in. This is just a joke, I can't play single player offline game on the game I bought thanks to Activision Blizzard needs me to be logged in to play. This makes me sick, if they're not able to properly have the game playable online, they should not ask us to stay online to play single player.
EDIT: Now it works, this is how I did it:
Changing e-mail (and confirming them) 9 times on 3 different e-mails. Changing adress details around 5 times. Changing comm. preferences about 6 times trying several languages and then changing back to English, and remember to tick the box. If I was to guess, what could have done it was to tick the box when you change back to your language of choice. Try that!

But when you logged in you had your main email and psw again, or you changed them and logged in with different? ^^
It looks like changing things has not impact on that, maybe it's just need hour or so and then it works.
Edit: hehe now works
|
Re entered my address and phone number and now it works! Thanks!
|
Having the same problem..dunno what the deal is..
EDIT: after monkeying around with various settings I saw that my address was incorrect..so I changed it and it worked after that.
|
Changed email adress, password, home adress, comm. preferences and even added a new game to the game accounts (still had WC3:RoC in my closet).
Nothing works so far.
I'm swinging between bitter disappointment and utter rage atm. I have no doubt this will be solved soon, but FUCK THIS SHIT. I can't even start single player campaign, because you need to have an active account before you can login as guest.
I guess this is a nice example of "paying customers getting screwed by copyright protection™".
EDIT: I got things working. I'm not certain what did the trick. Either you just need to wait a while (about 1h20 for me between adding the SC2 game account on B.net and being able to play) or it was because of my last action (subscribing to "News and Special Offers from Blizzard Entertainment" under Communication Preferences).
Good luck to you, Poltergeist.

Tried to change my account e-mail to try and fix this and now the damn thing won't even let me log in to battle.net at all with the new email. This is freaking awesome >_>. Just want to play starcraft.

Same deal, Tried everything humanly possible. Now I can't even log in anymore because I have changed it all so much... deep sigh.
|
I tried everything all that were mentioned (change address, password) but no luck... After I added the WoW Trial at my account and now I can login into the game!!!
|
I did the email changing thing too and it took a while before I was able to log in with the new email..now when I log into battle.net my girls email shows up because I changed it to hers to test and when it finally worked I didn't dare mess around with it anymore.. :D
|
this is the worst thing EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
my guess is that once you update the account it takes a while before it syncs with the bnet 2.0 server, so try updating once and just waiting (I'm trying this right now)
|
Well I just finished fiddeling around with almost everything in the battle.net account options but to no avail. Guess I will try waiting now, since there isn't much else to do.
|
Yeah not working here either and I'm in serious nerd-rage mode.
|
Friend of mine having the same problem. Bought hardcopy from store, installed from disc, added key to account and getting "not associated" message. Kinda sucks balls.
|
"HELL ITS ABOUT TIME"..... i think its great i got to hear that right before im not able to play the game..... thx blizzard...... you really know how to cut to the core of me
|
I've changed everything on my bnet acc, still no progress... guess time will tell crap
|
Ok so does anyone know if the blizzard support for europe is actually closed (as it says on the webpage (open until 20:00 paris time))? because when I call I just get a "very busy, call again" message
|
Just to reitarate what everyone having this problems should try before giving in to just waiting, or support calls:
Try the following: (1 at a time) *Change region and language. *Change your password. *Change your Bnet account e-mail
I tried the first steps rather frantically and then called support. After 78 minutes of waiting on the phone I tried changing my email as well and that did the trick.
|
Yeey, after playing cracked version for a few minutes i tried to change my e-mail AGAIN, and this time it did the trick remember to confirm the e-mail change. Happy gaming
|
You could also change your password X amount of times (where X = 4-10)
|
The database servers are likely having issues with authenticating people which is very unfortunate. I'm sure Blizzard will reboot those servers at some point today.
|
Blizzard emailed me, and the solution they gave me is this:
Change your password: Wait around 1 hour, then it will work.
However, all my friends that bought the game have the same problem, and it is really messed up that you have to change the password and wait up to one hour for it reset. This is not what I expect from Blizzard.
|
That is simply not true. I changed my password, waited for atleast 90 minutes and could not get it to work!
|
OK so I changed my e-mail. Now I'm locked out of my account and can't log in anymore, the 'lost password' thing doesn't recognise my first and last name. I'm completely locked out now, and when I enter my password it says 'incorrect' ...
So a word of advice, don't change your e-mail more than once. I don't know what to do now. My game is activated on an account I can't access ... I'm very much panicking now. Support forums have been very helpful ... I'll have to wait till morning to call a support hotline -_-
|
Greth, I had the same problem after changing my email adress.
Your password doesn't change, but it takes a while for B.net to recognize the new email. Just wait a bit, then log in with your new email and your old password.
I panicked too, at first, but there's no need.
PS : You DO need to confirm the adress change by following the confirmation link in your inbox, but I suppose you know that...
|

Yes but it took 7 straight password resets. I've heard numbers ranging from 4 (that didnt work for me) up to 10 times. And not even that works for everyone from what I've read on the web. But it's worth a try!
btw I can mention I changed it to diffrent passwords every time, dont know if that matters but when I tried it 4 times I kept switching between two passwords. So that might be worth a shot
|
I called the support hotline - here is what they said (sound reasonable to me)
If you reset you password or e-mail - the account will be refreshed which also hands your license to the login/auth server. Since this one is under heavy load those days, it takes some time.
If you are using not your local copy (e.g. English version but located in Germany) you should try to set your language settings (Communication preferences or sth in the battle.net "Settings") matching the version of the game you'd like to play. Furthermore you could adapt your adress to that.
As stated above the refresh will give the server another task, which may be drops if the load is too high. I asked the hotline to refresh it manually and after setting my password back to my original password approx 15minutes later it worked.
So basicly, be patient, thats all you can do. I had to wait 3 hours after coming back from work until I could finally log in - so I shared your misery. Hang on guys and hope that helps.
|
Well i tried all these suggestions last night and never got it to work over a 5 hour period. Went to bed and woke up this morning tried it again and its STILL not working.
I have lost so much respect for Blizzard now. When i tried to submit an error report i got a http 500 error on there site, and now i can't even login.
The irony in the whole situation being that if i downloaded an illegal copy i could have been playing it last night, not have to go online to play single player and been 35 quid better off.

To all frustrated friends who have changed settings and then been able to play: about how long after changing settings were you able to log in?
I've been changing shit and reloading, etc. Been an hour or so...still "association required". RAGE
|
Well my issue has now gone to the next level. I mailed them, no response so I endured 35 minutes of automated messages to get to an operator. I tried 3-4 times before that but didn't even get through.
After trying everything on his side, the guy helping me said 'ok, that's awesome' after the last failed attempt. 'I'm going to have to ask my superior'. I held me breath, and was put on hold once again, but this time it was genuine Blizzard music in the background. Holy shit, I thought, they are giving me the Diablo Tristram theme, shit just got serious. And it did, after a genuinely scary 3 minutes of daunting Diablo music, the guy returned. 'Yeah, this is out of my hands now, my superior will take control of the situation. There isn't anything more we can do right now. He'll take care of it.' When I asked him about the timespan 'One or two days'. I laughed in defeat, 'I waited 12 years, sure I can wait another two days'.
Apparently buying the Collectors edition, and adoring it for several hours at work, then opening it at home; it is very much like taking a shot of heroine. I'm slowly dying inside. I wanted the game badly when it came out, I woke up early to get to the store. I was happy for those moments. I can't remember how I felt, even though it was only two days ago.
I just want to play the game Blizzard! Why are you doing this to me! What happened to you! on the 27th, when the trouble first began I read through the entire third book of the dark templar series in one go to keep me relatively sane. I have finished Starcraft Vanilla and am about to start on Brood war. I'M RUNNING OUT OF TIME HERE!!!
|
can anyone comment on this problem.

i got the dvd, the digital download versions, etc...all REQUIRE ASSOCIATION..

i was told by blizzard support staff that you cannot play outside of your region. i bought the game on amazon and had it mailed to my friend in the states. he installed the dvd and used my password to check for me... of course he had no problems logging in. but when i try from outside the NA region it fails and says association required.

Greetings,
I can understand your discontent, however much of this situation is out of our hands due to the requirements placed upon us. You're welcome to post on our forums should you wish to discuss the matter further.
then i got an update:
Greetings,
I went back and checked some information and I found that some of the information I was going on was incorrect. Your U.S. Battle.net account should accomodate any regional version of StarCraft II, except for the Chinese and Korea / Taiwan regions. Now, if you're attempting to play the North American version of StarCraft II from China you're going to be encountering a number of connection issues due to the protection and firewalls the country has in place. From what I can verify, there is nothing in place here that would prevent you from connecting, so any connection issues you're encountering should be directed to Technical Support. You'll find their contact information by clicking the link in my signature.
not very helpful as you can see. i played thousands of games during beta from china on the US server. there is no firewall problem. that is laughable and almost insulting. will update if i hear from tech support.

Right, my issue was finally solved. The way they did it? They bought a new digital copy for me to use. Yeah, you read that right. Blizzard gave me a new game, with a new CD-key to use on the 'split' account. So something must have REALLY gone wrong. In any case, I'm happy and on the final mission.
Only irritating thing is that I don't have a CE now ... I did buy one, but the digital one doesn't have the avatars and the thor ... OMG IMZOSAD ... Not really ... Just really glad I can play the damned thing!

Right, even though I had a perfectly fine account before, suddenly the entire game has been deleted from by B.net account. I can't re-add it because it was a digital purchase as well. What the hell.
Can't post on tech forums because I don't have a character, can't reach them by phone because they are getting "too many calls" and I'm quite sure that it's gonna take them a few days to answer to my email.
