Just curious: This H61M-HVS is MATX. Is there a big difference to ATX? Like, does that giant graphics card even fit on the H61M-HVS? :D But if you say you recommended it before and everything was fine...

Caviar Green is a 5400 rpm drive (as opposed to 7200 rpm on the Caviar Blue and most others), which means lower performance, lower noise, lower power. You don't want a 5400 rpm drive for running an OS and programs, because this means slower seek times to find all the data.
BitFenix Merc Alpha is better than Xigmatek Asgard III.

microATX just means the length is less, so there are less expansion slots at the bottom (space for 4 as opposed to 7). They fit in all cases that support normal ATX motherboards. Most OEM pre-built computers use microATX motherboards to save money, since most users won't need the extra slots and potentially other ports.
Graphics cards go in the full-length PCI Express slot, which pretty much every microATX motherboard has. The slots are the same physically and electrically as on an ATX or miniITX or other form factor motherboard.

I wouldn't get that hdd, I think that one is unreliable Go with Western Digital for your HDDs

Yeah that's fine. If you're using hardwareversand, get the Super Flower Amazon 450W instead. I didn't think the price difference was worth it on mindfactory, since it looked like you were mostly trying to get the cheapest stuff when possible (motherboard, chassis). But for less than 4 euros more, it's a decent upgrade.

His selected 6870 doesn't come with a molex-to-6pin adapter so he'll need one of those too.

I have no idea what that is, could you link it on hardwareversand.de?

I wish i could donate some of mine to TL.
I have like 180 of these adapters just laying around not doing anything.
If i melt them down I bet I could make you a copper ingot.
Same with VGA/DVI adapters.

Anyone know what the a great mechanical keyboard is with cherry MX brown switches? I was looking at getting the DAS professional silent keyboard, but they are a little on the expensive side.
Thanks!
|
Keyboards are... well... keyboards. Look at the layout in a picture to see if it's what you're used to/want, listen to youtube videos if you want to know what they sound like. The Zowie Celeritas is brown switches, you could buy from them if for no other reason than they sponsor e-sports (startale I think). Most mechanical boards run about $100. Maybe there's a rosewill brown switch keyboard that's cheaper, they make some of those. Both those boards would be on Newegg, not sure about other brown switch boards. Key stiffness is based on switch I think, so there shouldn't be much change there.
|
I recommend against Celeritas as people have been having problems with it.
Evidently its debouncing is really really bad and people are reporting double taps left and right. TL forums have a lot of posters unhappy about that keyboard.
So the switch is good, but the keyboard around it is not so good.
I think Ducky's are a really good intro to mechanical keyboards.
But people are also raging about tenkeyless mini mechanicals as well and I admit they look like a good buy. Like the Noppoo Choc mini

Seems right up your alley.

Thanks! The rosewill 9000s should be good, Leopolds and Filcos should be good as well, and Duckys should be good.

Ah yes, it has a 6pin and an 8pin.
@Sandtrout The HD 6870 requires 2 power cables connected from the PSU, two "6-pin" cables. The Amazon 450 has two of those, while the CX430v2 only has one 6pin. For the Amazon, one of the GPU connectors is an 8pin, but it's a 6+2 so you can still use the 6 portion to plug into the GPU; it looks like this: http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/pcie6plus2.jpg

So the super flower amazon 450 already has the adapter I need for my graphics card?
Edit:

You won't need the adapter with the Amazon, as I explained above.

I don't think the prices will settle at their old values very rapidly. People have gotten used to the higher prices for harddisks and I don't see retailers passing up the opportunity for extra profit. Especially since the days of the largest discounts and special offers are over.

When there's supply more than demand you need to lower the prices or you're going to be endlessly building up storage.
