Intel i5-2500k AsRock Z68 Extreme3 G.Skill Ripjaws 2x2GB Gigabyte nVIDIA GTX560TI 1GB (maybe I should get the twin frozr instead?) Corsair 650TX V2 Cooler Master HAF 912 Plus Cooler Master Hyper 212+ Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB Asus DVD±RW 24X For the monitor I was thinking Dell Ultrasharp U2312HM, but I'm wondering if the U2412M is worth another £50 or 60, I'm currently using a 20" and I don't know how much bigger I can actually go without me thinking that the monitor is too big. I'll probably pick up a second one around January when I'll stop feeling bad about blowing so much money in such a short space of time Also as I first time builder is there anything else I'll need to buy along with the actual parts, I have screwdrivers and stuff, but what about things like thermal paste?

Nope you won't need anything special. just a screwdriver. Having a few of those plastic thinggies to tie up cables is nice tho. so you can make a nice and clean interior. something like this: http://www.genpack.com/popup.asp?image=GP-Cabel-(billede-2)-bi.jpg

Thermal paste is either pre-applied or comes in a small bag with the heatsink so you don't need to buy this. You could buy a anti-static wrist strap if you are paranoid about stuff like that and some zip ties or something to help make the cables look neater inside your computer (if you care about it). You could save some money on the psu as you don't need 650 W. A decent ~500 W is more than fine. The asus dvd is usually not the cheapest so you could probably save a little there. Are there any special reason you chose that mobo? I'd probably go for something like Asrock P67 PRO3 unless you need a z68 board. Personally I'd probably get the cheapest 1333 2x4 GB ram instead of the 2x2 ripjaws (that usually aren't the cheaper ones). And if the prices are somewhat similar I would get the 560 ti twin frozr version but it's not a must.

I'll get a Corsair CX500 instead then. I went for that mobo because someone else in the thread recommended it, but I guess since I'm going for single GPU its probably overkill. They're the same price so I'll go for the twin frozr instead. Thanks for your help.

That shop seems a bit overpriced. Cooler Master cases are overpriced in Europe and not recommended in general. Your build costs about 775€. You can waste money on a Noctua NH-D14 and a Seasonic Platinum or Corsair AX, or similar components - all are reasonably quiet, perform well, and carry a longer than your standard warranty. Just wanted to say (for that poster and posterity's sake) that the Thermalright Silver Arrow performs exactly the same as the D14 (sometimes 1*C better) but is much quieter. An excellent long-term investment for those with the budget for it. You can even run it at like 600RPM for complete silence and its performance is still great.

I was under the impression overclocking seriously reduces the lifespan of your cpu ? While offering minimal gains. Was also always afraid of just burning the cpu up but now that's impossible with sandy bridges right? Guess its time to read up more about it, but i kept my previous pc 3.5y...(3ghz c2d) I see those ASRock mobos everywhere but i've never heard of that company. Is the quality there? That's all that really matters to me; I want it to last! thx allot man, i'll go try to play with that website but It's only in german so that could get interesting... but silent is a big thing for me so if i could squeeze some silent stuff in there it would be great.

Asrock is asus's sister company Overclocking reduces the lifespan of your CPU from like 15 years to like 5-8 years, you will need a new one anyway at that point. It also is incredibly rare that a CPU suddenly stops functioning. You can incredibly safely overclock to like 4.5Ghz, the voltage will still be well below specifications. You won't fry anything if you just do it properly and don't apply a 2.0Vcore. In fact that won't even work as the PC just just wouldn't start up. For Silence I'd suggest the Thermalright Macho heatsink, impossible to beat for silence(and performance) at the price point. Also Fractal Design Define R3 case would be good, which I think I already included anyway. Apart from that you could change the power supply to Super Flower Golden Green 450W as that's a very quiet one. Also the Twin Frozr and DirectCU II heatsinks are really nice for silence, though the Gigabyte Windforce is really quiet as well and that one's much cheaper.
