Anyway, video editing only needs like 16GB max (even 8GB is good enough). The most memory intensive stuff is basically loading the video preview into RAM. If you're filling all 32gb of memory, your workflow is terrible and you should learn how to work more efficiently.

From Shikyo, the general thought of cutting out small excessive things in order to upgrade to a 580 GTX is amazing because you will really notice the graphics card and it offers a lot in terms of longevity as well. Also looked into the SSD and it seems like the Crucial M4 is a better choice than the Vertex 3. More reliable brand and better random reads. CL9 RAM instead of the 8. Put the PSU down to 650 TX-M because it should be fine, variable fan speed so it spins pretty slow until past halfway load. Was contemplating a HX but doesn’t seem necessary. With the motherboard I have a hard time finding a good alternative, going with an P8P68 LE saves 25 bucks but then I read the heatsinks and other options on it like for OC’ing are bad on the fleshed out cheaper models and when it doesn’t even allow for a bit decent overclocking then why even get a P67. Probably will just get the regular version so I don’t feel like cheaping out and regret it later. I really love the Antec case and I will just still get the bigger one with the fan on the side. Fits the 580 and the smaller has just 2 120mm fans total while the bigger has 2 140,1 120 and 1 200. You could argue having to add fans which can also cost quite a bit makes the gap much smaller. For storage Sata600 doesn’t matter so go with the Advanced Format instead? Hope they don’t cause any hassle and work with the Win 7 software mirroring just as easily as a regular disk. Here's the new build do you guys have any more feedback or shall I just go for it? + Show Spoiler + ![]() Old post: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=137554¤tpage=655

![]() Are you planning to go SLI in the future? If not a good 500W-550W PSU is enough for a single GPU system and you most definitely don't need a P193. The P183 already cools very well and you can add an additional 120mm fan on the top hard drive cage to direct air onto the GPUs. If you want to go SLI, I also recommend the Silverstone RV02-E or FT02. They're pretty good at cooling extremely hot systems without making too much noise.

- I'd exchange the scythe ninja for the Thermalright HR-02 Macho. If you dont want to push the overclocking you might as wel get something like a hyper 212+ - Exchange the motherboard for an Asrock p67 pro 3 (if you want to stick with 1 gpu) or something like an Asrock z68 extreme 3 gen 3 (generally one of the cheaper option in holland, not sure about alternate) if you want to sli it (in the future). - xfx core 550W as PSU for a single 580 and the xfx 750W or 850W black edition if you want to SLI the 580. 750W if you dont want to overclock the 580 and 850 if you do want to overclock them. - Case is on the expensive side, Id personally get an other one, but if you really like it you should keep it i gues. Rest seems fine. Maybe change the 1600 mhz memory to 1333mhz since it make nearly no difference. Overall I woudnt take the 580, since it has a very poor price/performance. I'd just get a 6950 and maybe even CF them if you want a lot of performance. Thats a lot cheaper and the performance difference isnt that huge: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/299?vs=308

Switched over to newegg and brought the total price (including shipping) down to ~$635, which fits well with my budget. Any final suggestions? Also, I may end up getting a sound card too while I'm at it, do you guys have any suggestions for those?

If you're sure about a GTX 580, get the Asus DirectCU model for the same price or an EVGA -AR model for lifetime warranty (for about the same price). That particular model is probably not the best choice. If you're planning on running heavy overclocks and heavy benchmarking on the GTX 580, I'd recommend upgrading the power supply. (for just gaming the Neo Eco 520C is plenty)

Every card out right now will be useless in two years if you want to play on max settings, just saying...
