I think massive shitton overkill doesn't even begin to describe the psus that could be reused.
But seriously, Bulldozer seems to be in line with expectations, not a crash hot sandybridge killer, a bit of a let down but not a total failure (well the Phenom X6 does beat it in some things)
I seriously hope that AMD can produce a competitive processor for the mainstream market before they are forced off and Intel can monopolise the entire space..
The good news is AMD has a very aggressive roadmap ahead of itself; here's hoping it will be able to execute against it. We all need AMD to succeed. We've seen what happens without a strong AMD as a competitor. We get processors that are artificially limited and severe restrictions on overclocking, particularly at the value end of the segment. We're denied choice simply because there's no other alternative. I don't believe Bulldozer is a strong enough alternative to force Intel back into an ultra competitive mode, but we absolutely need it to be that. I have faith that AMD can pull it off, but there's still a lot of progress that needs to be made. AMD can't simply rely on its GPU architecture superiority to sell APUs; it needs to ramp on the x86 side as well—more specifically, AMD needs better single threaded performance. Bulldozer didn't deliver that, and I'm worried that Piledriver alone won't be enough. But if AMD can stick to a yearly cadence and execute well with each iteration, there's hope. It's no longer a question of whether AMD will return to the days of the Athlon 64, it simply must. Otherwise you can kiss choice goodbye.
I've decided to just buy a prebuilt computer for my secuirty cameras. Its not 1080p so nothing fancy but enough that it runs smooth. I have 2 builds im considering to buy. The first one is:
It has the following: Nvidia Gforce 9800 GT 512 MB Graphics Card Intel Core 2 Duio 3.00 GHz Processor 2 GB Ram 500W power supply Antec case P5KPL Green Asus motherboard. 500GB Hard drive
This one is about $200-$250 (negotiating atm)
The next one is;
tel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6300 1.86 GHz, 2M L2 Cache, LGA775 ZEROtherm CF900 775 Heatsink EVGA 650i ultra motherboard 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair DDR2 DHX PC2-6400 800MHz BFG Tech NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB 500GB WD Caviar Blue WD5000AAKX (warranty until 2/19/2014) Pioneer DVR-212 SATA DVD-RW Antec Basiq VP450 450W Power Supply (purchased 09/30/2011) Antec 900 Mid Tower Gaming Case
Price is $300
so i am wondering which one would be a better buy. I'm only familiar with the new computer parts out today.
Edit: The first comp is 3 years old. My buddy said that the second comp is much older and slower with a worse graphics card.
Can't watch that video. Not available in my country.
As much as it's nice-ish to be vindicated in all the heated debates I've had with rabid AMD fanboys for the last several months, I have to ultimately conclude: Dammit. More insane Intel pricing.
It's so bad that Intel's probably having a better release party for BD than AMD is...

What I can't fathom is the decrease in performance in single-threaded apps and performance per clock. Like what the ...
From the [H]Forums
I updated the video link so hopefully you can watch.
So, wait, did they just release a video of them competing with an obsolete architecture? I mean, I expect ad material to cherrypick the best results where it looks good, but come on...

I think you're cutting in the wrong places there and I really would be scared of that PSU. Probably going to cost you much more than you're planning on saving.
In gaming, it's struggling to hang with Ph2. Sorry, AMD. No good. Predictions were right.
Wow, I'm late with this. Shoulda been up all night.
They can't do much about it i mean if you're talking about scilicon used in order to make these chips intel uses quite a bit less, assuming similar cost of processing as they are both 32nm, intel pulls in cost per chip to make.
Transistors: 995 million Die size: 216 mm² vs Transistors: 2 billion Die size: 315mm²
They want to price it higher but know it would probably never sell so they price it near intel prices and ignore the gap. Very much like the first phenom release sell it to oems put stickers like clock speed and COREZZZZASDASDA and hope it sells enough to keep afloat before revisions.
115$ overclockable quadcore... but why is the performance per mhz so shitty?=/ I'm guessing an Athlon II x4 640 or something would be a better choice for an overclockable budget 4core..

Most rational people don't give a damn about an unlocked shitty CPU at a low price. And people defending BD are pretty much grasping at straws at this point to find ways it isn't shit.

Well, our statistical sampling may suck, but I'd say the disproportionate number of complaints we see here tell enough of a tale. Avoid Sandforce, IMO.
