Yeah actually nevermind, RMA is a better option than buying a new one, if you want to go without a unit for a while. But maybe you can convince Corsair to cross ship. On October 09 2011 03:54 flipstorm wrote: If it is a failing PSU, I have no idea how to test it other than buying a new PSU and seeing if the problems continue. But like I said I didn't have any crashing problems before July and my PSU seems pretty solid (all the reviews were good when I bought it) so I guess I've never really thought of that as the problem. You can measure the voltages with a multimeter (e.g. measure across a yellow wire pin and black wire pin on a molex connector to see what the nominal +12V is at). You won't get too much of a good idea without an oscilloscope worth at least a few hundred dollars though. So the best most consumers can do is to just get a new one and see if that helps, which is a dumb troubleshooting idea that I'd hope you could avoid if possible. All the Corsair 750W units on the market are good, and all are way overkill for your setup. Reviews are about the design, components, and performance, which are good. They're not going to say whether or not the particular unit you own is defective, which is possible. With that many hardware failures, I'd be suspicious at least.

Though if you don't have Dirt3 this is pretty good: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161386 I don't really get why this wouldn't do as it's only 110$: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150540 Or is there really so little room neither will fit o.O

Both cards you linked are dual slot. The person asking specifically asked for a single slot card.

Many small cases will only fit half-height video cards, but few will only take a single slot video card, unless the computer already has other expansion cards already in the way. I'm not that familiar with Dell Optiplex models, but I suspect that few or none are mini-ITX, with only one expansion slot? MicroATX is the most common for desktop computers. Just checking.

$600-700 including screens and peripherals. What is your resolution? 1920x1080 What are you using it for? I’m making a computer for my dad’s office. He mostly does Word and web browsing. He also wants two 22" screens. What is your upgrade cycle? 4 years When do you plan on building it? ASAP Do you plan on overclocking? Nope Do you need an Operating System? No, his work provides it. Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire? No Where are you buying your parts from? Newegg.com and Amazon.com Other stuff We also need a 24" monitor for a different computer (separate from the budget). Do you guys have any suggestions? My dad would also like the computer to be as quiet and small as possible. Thanks for your help in advance!

Many decide to do just that after finding out how incredibly simple it is in this thread. But hey, being rude to someone giving you advice is a good plan too. Most of the configurations you linked make me want to vomit without looking at the prices, and if you look at prices, they're all disgusting.

Two posts in a row is epic. Let me narrow down the "rude" part since you're having trouble figuring it out. Thanks for replying. Obviously someone that ask advices here has no experience in building a computer. That whole "no experience" bit pretty much makes the whole reply a smartass comment.

Heh, I thought the "obviously" part was a little snarky. Either way, we are all going to recommend buying your own components since installation is easy to pick up, if you have ANYBODY around you that is good with computers youll be able to pick it up in no time flat.
