No. Start a business that uses good components and assembles shit like a rational human being, and doesn't ship bad components calling them a "free upgrade" to clear stock. My friend has one with a Xion AXP 600 case. Top PSU with an intake mesh. The PSU was mounted with the intake facing the CPU. He had to pressure them to get his GTX 460 instead of the 465 they "upgraded" him to. Oh, and that's ignoring the fact that the case moves enough air to achieve escape velocity and can barely handle cooling a 950@3.6 and a 460@800. Mind you, it cost enough to be in a real case, with solid cooling instead of the cheapest tower cooler on the market, and still have a profit margin. But there's a lot of competition in the market space, overhead is high, support is challenging, you'd need a website, you'd need wholesale purchase pricing, business shipping agreements... As a sidenote, I have this crappy Geforce GT 420 PC laying around that I decided to try overclocking and it overclocked smoothly from 700mhz core clock speed up to 855mhz, improving performance by around 40%. Overclocking this OEM card hadn't even crossed my mind o.O Now even SC2 is playable on medium in 1080p. If I had something like that laying around, I'd use it for testing how easy it is to blow up a shitty graphics card. I give it 15 minutes life expectancy. It's 77c under load(nvidia says max safe temp is 105) and the automatic fan is only at 58% there and it's on stock voltage... I really doubt it'll blow up but I have a spare card so it doesn't matter =P Either way going from 42 FPS to 60 is pretty good for overclocking. edit: That 460 free upgrade to 465 is hilarious, still giggling at it Nono, I mean I give it 15 minutes of me trying before it blows up. Not with your OC. If I didn't fry it in 5 minutes, I'd get harsh fast. Hmm... at 890mhz it started crashing after 5 minutes and peaked at 80c, afterburner maxes at 910, I'm pretty sure you can max it with voltage tuning(though that might fry it).
Well, yeah, I was kind of thinking of pure, raw abuse as needed. But I'm pretty sure if you used EVGA E-leet to kick it to 1.14 volts, spiked the clock to 1k, and threw on a furmark burn in, you'd see something dead in 30 seconds. The only real question is what.

You also should just get a 1333MHz cas9 kit you can find since higher frequencies and tighter timings provides negligible benefits in gaming. OCZ power supply is mediocre. You do not need 600w since your motherboard is not capable ofo CrossfireX. If you don't care about the power supply being modular (you shouldn't since there's not much cables anyways), you should pick up a XFX Core Edition 550, Antec Neo Eco 520C, Seasonic S12II 520, Antec Earthwatts 500, or Antec High Current Gamer 520 - whichever being cheaper. All of them are of higher quality than the OCZ and provide similar or more power than it.
Crap, someone recommended that board and said it supported crossfire, like an idiot, i never checked. This was recommended in this thread a bit back for a similar build to mine, is it any good? Can you think of one for a similar price that's better?

Look at the 3 black slots, compare their physical design to the blue one, and see if you notice something different. Like maybe the separator thingy being at the wrong end.
Pics. Zoom in as needed.
The Intel board you linked is at least capable of CfX and SLI, and they tend to make at least reliable products, although they aren't generally hitting the enthusiast market very hard.

That's an ECS board, not Intel.
The ECS just like the C43 is a budget P67 board so there's not much to say. It's a 4+1 phase design and runs CrossfireX at 16x / 4x. I wouldn't go with this board either. If you really want to do CrossfireX in the future, I'd suggest spending slightly more and getting the Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128495 Though it is a mATX board, it does support CrossfireX at 8x 8x.

You're entirely right. The brand should probably be more visible, since the only brand name in the big bold text was intel, and they use the same color scheme on a lot of stuff.
Have I mentioned lately that I like newegg's interface better than the rest of them?

Intel's colour scheme doesn't even closely resemble ECS's =p and their model numbers start with BOX.

Alright, I'll get that one. As for the RAM, I looked around and this was the cheapest I could find. I've heard from many people that 4 gigs is enough, although I've heard that 1600 is better, and this one is only 2 dollars more, and seems to be very highly rated. Also, what does this mean for the PSU? (Sorry for all the questions)
|
the performance increase from having 4gb as 2 seperate sticks instead of one 4gb stick is worth 6 dollars?
|
Intel's got a few in black and gray, and quite a few more with a good bit of them, but you're right, it looks less like the ones I was thinking of than I thought it does.
I still say the brand should be more obvious

Hi guys, I need a little help.
I'm getting a bunch of BSODs and crashes to desktop randomly, while the computer is under stress I'm guessing. The SC2 crashes come randomly, and not during major engagements. Most ofthe time when I'm rallying to a mineral patch or something. The BSODs are totally random.
It doesn't happen when my computer is under no load, but I don't look at my computer at that time. Windows Update keeps saying update rollbacked since there was an error with the updating on start up. It's very annoying.
I think I've ruled out software since I reformatted my hard disk, unless I reinstalled the program that's causing the problem.
I'm going to run MemTest and see what turns up, and I'm thinking of doing that chkdsk thing but I forgot how it works. And I know I'm missing another program here...
I'm also aware that I'm supposed to be looking for an error message in the BSOD, but I forget to, and don't know where to look in the first place.
I just want to review a bunch of my options before I try a new hard disk.
Could this have something to do with installed 2x2GB and 2x4GB of RAM in my computer? They're in the correct Dual Channel slots. That's the last update I did before the computer started freaking out.
I should also note that I can't seem to replicate these BSODs. They are truly random as far as I know... Also, I reformatted because my sound glitched for a halfsecond every couple of seconds, which looks to indicate ram or hard drive errors, but chkdsk didn't solve anything that time as far as I'm aware, and reformatting cured it.

^^Do you have an ssd? Could be bad firmeware for it.
|
BSOD message is? And yeah do you have a sandforce SSD?
|
No SSD. AMD Phenom II 905e Sapphire HD 5850 Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB OCZ ModXStream 500W
How do you make the BSOD stay longer so I can go find the message?
I'll check MemTest and do chkdsk /r? again when I get back tonight.

What is a good internal sound card to get nowadays? Medium to Highend if possible?
|
@Blisse: If you increased the amount of RAM, (Especially if the 2x4 was the upgrade on top of the 2x2), you could be having some issues with IMC voltage or VDIMM being too low. You also may have one of the memory kits running on too tight of timings or too high of a frequency for the voltages.

like Xonar DS or DX/XD 7.1? Depends on your purposes

I got Gigabyte's GTX 560Ti Super Overclock Edition.. And I was wondering if I'll be able to play BF3 in max settings?
