i dont know why youd bother with cf in the first place even a single 6870 runs new games like deus ex 3 maxed on 1080p

hey,
i'm trying to build a cheap basic computer for my store to connect to the security cameras. I'm trying to buy a prebuilt one because it should be cheaper but i can't find any so i'm thinking of building it myself.
This computer will just be to record and see the security cameras (no HD). I would like it as cheap as possible, $200-$300. This will be baught either from ncix or canadacomputers. I'm having the most difficult with figuring out which video card would be reasonable, i don't think a $80+ card is necessary?
I will be getting a 19"-20" monitor myself later, and i already have a copy of windows.

people have been playing it on ultra with a 6950/570, so its not THAT intensive
besides, it could probably handle high just fine, without all the useless bits, and look pretty much the same

LOL i didn't even see that! Yea, no wonder he was one of the people giving it a 1 star rating.

its only 80 bob though. are you a GAMBLING MAN?
|
80 bucks for a 460 with a SLIGHT (?) risk of melting down and destroying your motherboard, cpu, and ram and stinking up your residence.
Worth it? YOU DECIDE!

yeah powercolor is fine
but id probably still go with the 460. doesnt everything have a chance of fucking up?

Hi guys, greetings from Indonesia! I will be building a gaming pc for starcraft 2 and diablo3. My main concern is to have constant 40-50+ FPS on 4v4 200/200 Ultra. Have questions for my new build for you tech experts :D
Graphics: I Already own a MSI HD5870 TwinFrozer 1gb ddr5 and may plan to crossfire it in the future 1) Will 2x HD5870 bottleneck an i5-2500k? 2) Will another piece of HD5870 of another brand, (let's say Asus) work to crossfire with my current MSI one?
Power: I am currently planning to play with 1x HD5870 1) Will it be better to power up this rig for 1x HD5870 and then upgrade the PSU at the same time I buy the second HD5870 OR power up enough wattage for 2x HD5870 from the beginning 2) How much wattage would you advice for a build with i5-2500k + 2x HD5870 +30gb SSD with other regular parts? Random power outage is a problem in my country and I am concerned about the health of my hardware due to sudden increase/decrease of power. Therefore, I am preparing a UPS to prevent this problem 3)What is the rule of the thumb for UPS~PSU ratio?
Ram: 1) How much RAM would you suggest for this build? 2) Is there any special advantage of using 2 x 2gb rather than 1 x 4gb dims?
That's all I would be asking for now. Any advice is much appreciated
Thank you in advance!

No cpu exept on lowest settings will handle sc2 4v4 200/200 at 40+ fps

Your bottleneck will be your processor, and anyways what you're asking for isn't really feasible, even the top of the line processors can't max out 4v4 200/200 (assuming you mean all 8 players at 200/200) with 50 FPS. I doubt it could keep 50 FPS with 2v2 200/200 on ultra.

Thank you in advance! 5870 maxes the game so you're set there.
2500k definitely is the bottleneck with SC2, just like every other processor. You could try spending a few thousand on a double Xeon setup or just get a 200 dollar 2500k, up to you.
Yes another brand works, you can even crossfire a 5850 with the 5870.
For crossfiring 5870s you probably want around 650-700W to be safe.

I like to see a 4v4 game where all 8 players are maxed. I've played 4v4 quite a lot and it's never been close lol.
I have a oc:ed i5 2500k and it's very rare I experience any significant problems in 4v4 as a result of the cpu. If people are so concerned about the cpu bottlenecking very occasionally in 4v4, they should really start playing 1v1s where those things actually matter.

we're talking about 8 maxed out people, ofc no problem untill late game, but try playing with 8 * 300 lings and tell me how much fps you get

Uhm yeah I know, that wasn't my point... There are very few realistic scenarios where the cpu bottleneck shows itself. Maybe in monobattles or something. I've played many 50+ min 4v4's and late game is usually not very large armies but rather 2 or 3 players having big armies while the rest running low on minerals/units. All I'm saying it's a bit pointless to ask for a lag free maxed 4v4 since that rarely happens if you are not messing around and in turn won't be as much of a significance as an competitive 1v1 game.
