Needless to say they are cheap, but they probably are super unreliable and according to one guy's experience, you need a 500W version of those to run an i3 with a card of the caliber of the GTX 460

I havent bought a decent computer before so I dont really know where to start I was just wondering if anyone could help me out a bit. Thanks! You don't have to be tech savvy in order to build a computer, when I built my first one I had no idea the processor was even a component, I assumed it was the "entire thing." It's really easy to learn, and a GOOD $1200 prebuilt would probably cost you $750-800 to build. A $1550 alienware costs about $800 to build, so you can see some companies have extreme markups.

Sounds like its time to learn, fortunately you landed in the perfect thread. What are my other options? Paying out the ass for inferior equipment. Although not having any friends that can supervise you does stink. Unfortunately boutique brands are reviled and laughed at here on TL (for good reason) so not too sure. The hardest part about computers is learning what to buy and what to stay away from, which this thread is built for. Actually putting the computer together is just a bunch of round-peg-into-round-hole.

What are my other options? There are sites that can assemble the computer for you (for a fee obviously). You could probably do it yourself as well if you take some time to read up on it. First time I did it, it took me 5 hours (you can do it easily under 1) and then I was overly paranoid, reading up on every single detail, double checking I did things correctly, making sure the cables were tied neatly, trying to prevent my cats to jump up on the components etc. So even for a total noob it probably won't take you more than a day (factoring in installing os and stuff) with minimal risk.

I'd prefer getting a i5 2400 for SC2 though that'd then increase the cost by like 60$. That PSU is overkill and quite bad but I guess it's pretty cheap so it should work. Overall seems allright.

If you want to stream, I suggest you take money out of the graphics card and downgrade to a Radeon HD6850: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161384 which is still easily capable of maxing Starcraft II and Diablo III and put the money towards a core i5 2400: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115074 for streaming purposes. You should also look into combo deals that would reduce your total such as this Windows 7 Home Premium & Core i5 2400: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.723031 And you also want a 64bit Windows 7. There is no reason to purchase a 32bit operating system anymore for the average consumer.
