You seem to have completely ignored my advice on the previous page. Any particular reason?

Sorry I did not see it in double spoiler thing. I don't really want to shop online and there is a canada computers a few minutes away was the reason.

lol good luck pricematching anything at CC.
they're notorious for being complete douchebags when it comes to honouring their PMing policies. they'll cook up any excuse to not PM it, even to the point of "why don't you buy it from [competitor]"? and yes, they say this straight to the customer's face.
not really sure why shtdisturbance doesn't want to buy it online... the least hassle free way is just to go to ncix, order your stuff (and they'll actually honour pricematching unlike CC), and go pick it up at their store if you don't want to get dinked by like $70 of shipping fees.
|
What is a discrete graphics card? The G530 is a good choice as wabbit said? I will try price match even if they are dicks about it. Not every store is the same im sure.
Edit: What case would you suggest for lower cost then? ( you already gave me something to try and price match, ty.)
Edit: Canada computers is just the most convenient for me. If they don't price match and im loosing big money I might go for the online but for now its worth the try.

Shipping at NCIX isn't $70... it's usually less than $30 for every single order.
A discrete graphics card is any PCI-E x16 graphics card such as the GT 430 you have selected.
The Celeron G530 is just slower than the Celeron G540 that's slower than the Pentium G620 that's slower than the Pentium G630.

Should also mention that the differences are fairly minimal and pretty much (once again, for typical home/office use) indistinguishable.

What is your budget?
from 750$ to 900$ Why does it vary so much? I plan to spend about 1000 USD, but the prices in croatia are from 15-30% more than on newegg and similar shops
What is your resolution?
1680x1050 (20" SamSung monitor)
What are you using it for?
Multimedia. I do some gaming, but mostly older games and newer in lower resolutions. I might stream, but then again not in high resolution/detail.
For multimedia, i would love if the MBO would have something additional for the audio part (plan to use virtual instruments and record real ones).
What is your upgrade cycle?
Minimum 3 years.
When do you plan on building it?
December 2011/ January 2012
Do you plan on overclocking?
Chuck Testa - NOPE. I want durability over extra performance, my first PC still works, it's been 13,5 years since my oldest brother build it (more lucky over components then knowledge tbh.)
Do you need an Operating System?
Nope. Will get a pirated version of win7, then buy win8 when it comes out.
Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire?
Nope
Where are you buying your parts from?
Random shops from Croatia, they have all of the components but at a higher price. I don't mind the build made in a Canadian/USA shop, i will find the components here. The only thing that might be a problem is the PC case, an alternative would always be great.
Additional request:
ASUS mbo / Intel cpu / Nvidia gfx combo please (dislike AMD over heating and ATI over the lack of proper driver support over the last 10 years or so, dispite better performance of their cards)

Ok so with that I have just about everything, I think the last thing that I didn't see an answer for was that I have a hard drive already for the computer. I want another just for storage and backup. What one would be good for just that, I should not get another 7200 right? After that I think I can go to the store.
Edit: My bro plays warcraft 3. The CPU can handle that without a discrete gpu?
|
XFX 6850 for only $120 after rebate, comes with free Deus Ex too if you don't like pirating. Pretty good deal if you don't mind rebates, and it's not even that bad at $150 without rebate.

"Green" drives (5400/5900/whatever RPM) usually have a lower $/GB cost but the cheapest drives are usually WD Caviar Blue (7200 RPM) for like $40. IDK if there are any greens in that price range. Just figure out your space needs and get something appropriate.
And War 3 is an old game, doesn't have high requirements - it will work fine with the on-CPU graphics.
lol, Fabled's post is more to point people out to a sale. That card would be the most extreme overkill for that game.

Yeah I didn't even read any of the other posts just saw it on newegg this morning...

What you're basically looking at is:
- Intel Core i5 2400 - ASUS P8H67-V or M Pro or - GTX 560 (not Ti) or GTS 450 or GTX 550 Ti or GTX 460 - 2x4gb 1333MHz cas9 - Samsung Spinpoint F3 or Western Digital Caviar Blue - Seasonic S12II 520, Antec Neo Eco 400 / 450 / 520, Antec High Current Gamer 400 / 520, Corsair CX430 / 500 V2, XFX Core Edition 450, or some other good power supply. Since you're in Europe, you'll probably have Superflower, BeQuiet, and FSP available to you as well. - some sound card - some dvd drive - some case
Besides pricing, this isn't going to change by much since you won't getting the newer Sandybridge-E processors being released in November since they're going to be expensive and totally unnecessary for such needs and well you hate AMD so Bulldozer is out of the question (and its performance is expected to be a huge disappointment anyways so meh).
New graphics cards from Nvidia is highly unlikely to be released by the end of the year.
In other news, Antec High Current Gamer 620 shellshocker for $60 ($40 after mail in rebate): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371048

lol came back after afk and skyR posted long ago
+ Show Spoiler +@s.a.y
Here is a rough guideline, listing rough prices in USD:
Core i5-2300, 2310, 2320, 2400, or 2500 (only difference is frequency and price; usually i5-2400 is best value) - $190
Any socket 1155 motherboard, preferably with USB3 and maybe SATA3 (6 Gbps) if you get a faster SSD that supports it - $75
GTS 450 (a bit overkill for your usage maybe, but GT 430 and GT 520 kind of suck and are overpriced, and there's nothing in between) - $110
2 x 4GB DDR3 RAM (any brand pretty much) - $40
Intel 320 or Crucial M4 or Crucial C300 or Samsung 470 (Samsung may have a new SSD by the time you purchase) SSD of enough capacity to store the OS and all your multimedia programs, web browser, other common programs, and some scratch space - $115 for 64GB, but you may need more
Any mechanical hard drive for storing large files - $40+ depending on how much storage you need
Optical drive as you need - $20 for DVD burner, like $50 maybe if you want something that reads Blu-Ray
Power supply (250W is enough, so the lowest-wattage version of any of the ones below will be enough; out of options of reasonable price, these are preferred from top to bottom) - $45-70: Super Flower Golden Green Pro Seasonic S12II / XFX Core Pro / Antec High Current Gamer FSP Aurum Antec Earthwatts Green / Antec Neo Eco Corsair CX V2 There are others too, like some Be Quiet! models that are okay, but most are not that great.
Case (again listed preferred at top then going to bottom, focusing on lower noise) - $60-150: Antec P183 Antec Solo II Fractal Design Define R3 -- there's also a "Mini" that is very slightly smaller and only fits microATX motherboards NZXT H2 -- not that popular because of poor airflow, but that won't really matter for your parts Cooler Master Silencio Antec Sonata -- there are many revisions, some better than others
At typical prices I'd probably get the Define R3.
You should probably just get a dedicated sound card, with the inputs you need. External ones work fine. I have no idea what you would need here, so it's hard to say. Some of the cheaper "pro audio" interfaces may be good picks.

I found out my computer is dieing completely and I need to build a new one.
I bought a new HDD for computer but it did not fix all the problems so I already have that. I want a second HDD for storage only. Should I get a green? Add that in the budget instead of the other HDD.
Thanks.
+ Show Spoiler + Do you HAVE to buy from CanadaComputers? You can save some money on Shikyo's build: - get a G530 instead for $58 from NCIX, no difference in performance for non-gaming and non-professional work apps - save $48 by not getting a discrete GPU - it's not necessary for your typical "family" PC. The integrated graphics on the CPU is more than sufficient - edit: this ASRock mobo is also cheaper This is completely true, I was overkilling quite a bit and it also is true that the integrated graphics will probably work. Also I think my case is overkill but CC doesn't really have a great supply of good budget cases.

Will buy it and post pictures when it's alive.

@Bambi: Impressive. Bet skyR can do better for the money, also in true TL savings fashion...
I sure couldn't.
