http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133181 A similar case with decent cooling for almost half the price including rebates. I would shop a bit more.

I am not the only person to have seen issues with the quality. As Lian Li have reported to have fixed the quality issues on the k62. http://www.techspot.com/review/191-lianli-lancool-k62-k56/ Maybe i should have said the quality control was sub par on the case. It is a decent case, its just for the price, there shouldnt be quality issues.

Either way overtighting isn't anything new in computer chassis. Most of the time, they're tightened with machines and sometimes its enough to crack the acrylic. Its not something I would care too much about since the more quality control issues Lian Li has, the more money they lose...so you can assume that they would have resolved this problem already if it was ever a problem. Anyway, that Thermaltake case isn't really something I would buy. On paper its a pretty sweet case but the flimsy plastic front coupled with 0.6mm steel isn't exactly a case that is robust or quiet. The Lancool, at the very least, opts to use 0.8mm steel and has some really sweet tool-less features.

If you need fans though, it has plenty of room for fans ![]() 2x120mm on side, 1x200 on front, 1x120mm also in front if you place it in the drive bays (as long as you don't have more than 2 CD/DVD/BD drives, 1x200mm or 2x120mm on top, 1x120mm in back, 1x120mm on bottom. I have all those slots except 1 in use and even at 3.8GHz my phenom ii 955 gets MAX 50C while running prime95 (with a Zalman CNPS10X Performa, mid-level aftermarket cooler) my GTX 570 is always cool, even at its OC of 900/1800/1950 @ 1.075V, but I attribute that more to it's own custom fan curve than anything else. (though obviously the huge case and ridiculous airflow help)

There isn't any cases out there that cut against the grain in terms of airflow, save for the Corsair 700/800D, Antec Performance One series, or those rotated motherboard Silverstone cases. All cases have the exact front/bottom intakes and top/rear exhaust model and will perform extremely similarly to each other. My previous post might have been a bit rude but seriously there isn't much to think about when selecting cases with good airflow because gaming cases are pretty much the only cases sold in the DIY market. You could actually roll a die and come out with a satisfactory result because they're so similar these days.

That's true if that's the only thing he's looking for in a case. I was assuming there is a little more to it.

Plus, they're usually quieter without sacrtificing cooling ability.

Plugged normally into molex, with all four fans running at +12V, it won't be that quiet: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1206-page5.html I guess you can run a couple off of the motherboard for fan speed control, but probably not all of them. This is kind of a side issue though, as I'm not sure if he would care about the noise. The type of sound is not that bad apparently anyway.

At that point, should I upgrade and build a new computer? Edit: I'm not going to lie, I'm having second thoughts about it and I'm thinking maybe I should wait another week and do more research before I buy. Idk. :| Newer and better technology is always right around the corner, you will end up waiting endlessly if you keep worrying. As a (somewhat accurate) blanket statement, people should just get a PC that does what they want it to do now and in the near (foreseeable) future, while planning ahead so that it is relatively ugprade-able when it can no longer fit your wants 2-5 years from now (who knows how long before your components won't handle new games/stuff?). If you get an LGA 1155 motherboard, it should be able to support Ivy bridge processors, so you're probably "safe" for a good 5 years on that. The GPU can always be upgraded easily. Bigger and faster HDD/SSD are easy to add.

So for a while I've been thinking about building my very own pc which I'll be using for gaming (no really?) and some After Effects video editing. After researching on how to do it I made a list of my components. Before I'll show the list I'm asking you if everything is right and all the parts are compatible with eachother since it's my first time building a pc Any tips / hints are welcome! Also If i could/should spend less or more on some parts I'd like to know that as well and my final question is if I should buy some additional fans for inside my case. The list: + Show Spoiler + I've set my budget to € 800 and the total cost wil be around € 775. The site where I'll be ordering my parts is written in dutch but I tried to look for the links on newegg.com. Concerning my screen I already own a 26 inch full hd LED tv / monitor so I'll be using the 1920 x 1080 resolution. Oh, and because I've got some money left I'd also like a good keyboard and mouse, but nothing too crazy expensive tough.. Case (€ 40,16) Cooler Master Elite 430 Note: It looks nice with the window and the blu LED fan, and I heard that its big enough for bigger video cards. http://azerty.nl/8-1044-321431/cooler-master-elite-430-midt.html http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119227&Tpk=Cooler Master Elite 430 Motherboard (€ 111,29) Asus M5a99x EVO Note: I chose a MB with a AMD 3+ socket so I can upgrade to a bulldozer processor, I dont really know much about motherboards. Azerty NewEgg CPU (€ 123,86) Quad-core 3.5 gHz AMD Phenom II x4 970 Note: No super expensive processor but quite a good one as far as I know. I chose for an AMD processor because they seem much cheaper than Intel processors and I heard that AMD processors are better for gaming (not sure tough). Azerty NewEgg Storage (€ 68,50 + € 87,98) (2???? HDD & SSD?) HDD 1 TB (Mass storage) Azerty NewEgg SSD 60GB (for my OS) --> Heard it was smart to use 2 seperate disks for an OS and mass storage. Azerty NewEgg Powersupply (€ 112,10) Corsair Professional Series HX Note: I'm pretty sure that this PSU has an 80+ certification. Azerty NewEgg Optical Drive (€ 21,54) LG GH24NS50 Super Multi Note: I'm clueless on this one :/ Azerty no newegg link available Memory (€ 50,56) 8 gb 1600 mHz Corsair vengeance Note: Looks cool with the rest of my PC and I chose for 8 GB because I render some visual graphics. Azerty NewEgg GPU (€ 160,03) Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 Azerty NewEgg In the future I'm probably going to upgrade my CPU (bulldozer????), GPU and RAM so I didnt go suuuuper overboard with those ![]() Total cost: € 776,24 Thanks for reading this and see you on Bnet, Arnovic PS. It comes out sept 16 I think, so as your build stands you'll be getting a proccesor that you intend to replace one month later Your RAM seems expensive too. You could probably cut 10 bucks if you went with 1333mhz, there's almost no difference And as to your comment on AMD being better than intel for gaming. That couldn't be more wrong. Intel currently beats AMD at every price point (spare some hexa-core situations). The Bulldozer is likely to actually be competitive, but if you're building now, go with intel. ALso, 650W is too much, you'd be fine with 430 I think

Dont really know why you went through the trouble of looking at newegg, since you're not buying from there and the price settings in the NA is different. Would allso be nice to know if you want to overclock and what your future plans are for your computer(SLI/CF, upgrade cycle and so on). Allso it would be nice to know what games you are planning to play and at what settings you want to play them. - AMD is currently outperformed by intel and it looks like(not sure) bulldozer wont really change that. I think its better to just get an intel CPU. That will allso leave you the option to (most likely) upgrade to ivybridge in the future. So you'll have a better CPU right now and your ugprade options are most likely better. Another option is to just wait for bulldozen (not that long anymore) and see how it performse. - MOBO will need to be an intell mobo. Which one depends on if you want to overclock - Hdd, dont go for the vertex 2, they are nutoriously unreliable. go for the crucial m4 if you want something relatively cheap and reliable. You could allso get a slower(cheaper) HDD, since you allready have an SSD for your most important programs. - That PSU is overkill and imo overpriced. There are better options and besides that 400-500W will be enough for the videocard you have sellected. - You can just take a 18 euro dvd/rw optical drive. - You can save 12 ish euro without losing much performance by just going for the cheapest 1333 mhz 8gb ram kit. - Dont know exactly what your expectations are, but the 6870 is a good card. - If you want to overclock I'd get an extra fan for that case (or get another case) + you'll need an aftermarket CPU cooler. For example the xigmatek gaia (Azerty just has them newly stocked)
