I don't know how to answer this question x.x, are you asking how much HDD space I need or something else?

GPU: You could pick the 570, he would be able to play games on high/ultra longer but overall the 560-ti and 6950 are far superior in price per performance. So I'd allso suggest one of those unless you are very demanding, than you might want to take a 570. RAM: Since you have such a big budget, you might as well get 1600mhz ram, its optimal for performance. If you want to save a bit you could allso get 1333mhz ram, the difference is very small. PSU: On your budget I wouldn't try to save on the PSU, its a very important component. For a GTX570 I'd get a 500~550W PSU Unless you plan on putting an unholy amount of peripherals in you PC. Thanks - I will probably put in a 6950 in just because of personal preference To you guys: is the CM Storm Scout (http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX24182%28ME%29.aspx) any good? I hear it can get a little cramped for space w/ large gpu's but what's your opinion of it?

CM 690 II is a decent case, but there's much better places to find reviews normally.

Or a better Gpu? This is my first build and i am still working things out. Also is a SSD worth it in my situation?

If you plan on overclocking than you can get the Core i5 2500k along with a P67 motherboard and an heatsink which would add a significant amount to your total. But going from a core i5 2400 to a core i5 2500 offers a very negligible performance difference. If you were considering the core i7 2600 instead than maybe... it depends on if the tasks you do take advantage of the eight threads provided by it. Gaming does not, it's only really for professional uses such as editing. SSD I guess it's worth it if you reboot your computer often or play a lot of games with lots of loading.

The monitor i was looking at was 1920x1080. And you say that if i was interested in overclocking go for the i5 2500k, and the p67 motherboard. I know that this will allow me to overclock effectively, but what i am uncertain about, is if overclocking is, in fact, worth it. Would it grant me many, if any benefits while gaming? Will it extend it's life span? I just don't know if it is worth the investment. Also just out of curiosity what is the purpose of the pci express 2.0 x 1 slots? And what is the advantage of getting the p67 motherboard? Thanks for all the help ![]()

You can see the difference of various clock speeds of the 2500k and other processors in this article: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core-i7-2600k-990x.html Overclocking won't extend the lifespan of the components since you're be running it at a higher frequency and pumping more voltage into it but it won't drastically decrease it, you'll be long upgrading before it dies to a modest overclock. But you were probably talking about performance lifespan in which case yes it will increase it by a year or so maybe. The purpose of PCI-E x1 slots are for add-on cards such as NICs, sound cards, etc.

Will over clocking require me to invest in a decent heatsink? Or will the stock one do OK? If so which one should i get? Is there anything else i need to know about over clocking?

What is your budget? ~$1000, but would not mind spending a little extra. What is your resolution? 1920 x 1080 What are you using it for? Mostly gaming, -- would like something that will work on new games for the next 5 years or so. Also to have the capability of streaming would be great. What is your upgrade cycle? 2-3 years. When do you plan on building it? In about a week or two. Do you plan on overclocking? No. Do you need an Operating System? Yes, Windows 7 ![]() Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire? Unsure about this -- I think a single powerful GPU will do fine. Where are you buying your parts from? NCIXUS.com in case I become too busy then I can add the assembly fee.

Here's a configuration for $872 capable of what you are asking for. I know you said you didn't want to overclock but the core i5 2500k & p67 selection is primarily due to pricing so you will have the option to overclock in the future if you change your mind. Keep in mind some of these sales will end on Wednesday evening so you should add these in your cart to keep sale pricing.
