The Silverstone unit is acceptable though.

Granted, the price increase on that kit for the performance increase is actually vaguely reasonable. At least for non-gaming uses.

It's priced like an i3-2100 with worse performance in gaming unless you use the IGP.

If you compare integrated graphics, however, the Llano will outperform the i3.

Motherboard: ASUS P7P55D-E LX (socket 1156) CPU: Intel Core i3-530 (not avi on newegg) Graphics: XFX Radeon HD 5770 Memory: 4gb of DDR3 1333 memory, can't remember brand. It's in 4x1gb, kept them for a while. Power supply: Silver Power SP-SS500 (link to some random review I found on google) So, it's about time to upgrade. I was thinking of going the Intel i5-2500, GTX 560 and 8gb RAM that's been adviced so frequently here, which would require me to buy a new motherboard in addition to the rest. So, my question is, is it really worth it to buy the new motherboard and CPU or would the new RAM and graphics card be sufficient? How much of an effect would I see from the upgraded CPU? Obviously I have to upgrade my lackluster CPU at some point, but would you rather advice I wait until it's even further behind and the next gen has come out? Do I need to upgrade my random, offbrand Power Supply? I realize only I know what I really need, but budget is kind of an issue for me, so I would just humbly ask for some thoughts on this.

Your configuration is still quite decent for gaming. I'd wait until the second quarter of 2012 when Ivybridge is released before committing on a new configuration. If it's for other tasks that would benefit greatly from 4GB of extra memory and two extra cores than go ahead and upgrade.

Don't buy the Coolermaster Hyper 212+ for $50, it's only suppose to be a $20-$30 heatsink but Newegg decided to mark it up due to demand. Get the Xigmatek Gaia instead which performs very similar to the Hyper 212+: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233082

2 questions 1. Does the Xigmatek Gaia have a connecter on the other side for another fan like the 212+ and 2. What PSU would you say to use for my build?

If you want to do SLI, you can get the XFX Core Edition Pro 650 for $90 ($60 after mail in rebate): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207014 If you are just going to be using a single card configuration, you can get the 450 variant for $55 ($45 after mail in rebate): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207012
