Took me some time, but I came up with this build. It is mainly for gaming/streaming/some video encoding. Your thoughts ? Is anything under/overkill ? Newegg links are for your convenience only as I can't buy from there. CPU : Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072&cm_re=intel_i5-_-19-115-072-_-Product Motherboard : GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD3H ( Intel Z68 - LGA1155) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128498&Tpk=GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD3H Ram : Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104173&cm_re=kingston_hyper-_-20-104-173-_-Product Hdd : Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136533&cm_re=western_caviar_black-_-22-136-533-_-Product Dvd Writer : LG CD/DVD Burner http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136238&cm_re=GH22NS-_-27-136-238-_-Product GPU : MSI N560GTX-TI Twin Frozr II/OC GeForce GTX 560 Ti http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127565&Tpk=N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC PCIe PSU : Antec TruePower New TP-550 550W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371020&Tpk=550W ANTEC TruePower Case : COOLER MASTER RC-692-KKN2 CM690 II Advanced Black http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119216&cm_re=COOLER_MASTER_CM_690_II-_-11-119-216-_-Product Monitor : BenQ G2420HD http://www.benq.com/products/product_detail.cfm?product=1514

XFX Core 550w @$70 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207013&Tpk=xfx core 550w Also, cheaper 8GB RAM - Gskill 8GB DDR3-1066 CL7@ $75 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231308&cm_re=gskill_8gb-_-20-231-308-_-Product No point getting 1600Mhz RAM, the difference is marginal.

About the ram, I've already chosen the cheapest available in my shop (the 1333mhz was about 1$ cheaper so I decided to go with 1600 seeing it could possibly increase fps by 1 or so) As for the PSU, the one you linked isn't available from the shop I'm buying (they don't have any XFX). I've been told to get a decent PSU so that it would allow me upgrade/last long enough (maybe even to use it with my next build). Also it is modular, should be easier (and less messy) to build/upgrade for me since I'm not really experienced. I could try to look for an alternative one though since it is quite expensive. Is everything else Ok?

You'll want an aftermarket heatsink such as this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233082 for overclocking your 2500k.

There isn't any "specific" reason for me getting the Z68 , no. But basically the Z68 isn't much more expensive than the P67 (from what I've seen on the shop) and offers better support. I'm not going to use SLI any time soon, perhaps in future upgrade. I probably won't have too much use of Quick sync to be honest, it might come handy some time though, who knows. Thanks for suggesting a heat sink. Sadly the one you gave me isn't available in my shop. Maybe do you know any other decent/cheap one within these brands : Antec, Artic cooling, Cooler master, Noctua, Scythe, Zalman. If that's not the case, I'll just find one by myself.

Water cooling : But seem to be expensive : 59$+ And they also seem to get destroyed by the Air cooling... Get a fan that is below 150 mm Noctua NH-U9B SE2 LGA1155/1156/1366 AM2/AM3 I7/I5/PHENOM Heatpipe Cooler W/ 2XNF-B9 92MM Fans @ 59.99$ Coolermaster RR-920-N520-GP Hyper N520 Copper 5-HEATPIPE CPU Heatsink W/ Fan LGA1155 1156 1366 AM3 @ 39.98 Thermaltake Frio LGA775/1156/1366/AM3 Core 2/I7/I5/PHENOM Heatpipe @ 65.79 This one is interesting but very very expensive Noctua NH-C14 LGA775/1155/1156/1366/AM3 I7/I5/PHENOM Heatpipe Cooler W/ 2x NF-P14 140MM Fans @ 89.99$ Or, get rid of the Side fan/cut some part of it to make fit some of the Heatsink that are praised by many Corsair Cooling Air Series A70 HIGH-PERFORMANCE DUAL-FAN CPU Cooler LGA1155 LGA1156 LGA1366 AM2 AM3 @ 29.99$ special Coolermaster 212+ @ around 20$ Scythe Mugen 2 @ 34.99$ Beside the cool factor, the side fan may not be very useful O.o My goal is to OC it to about 4ghz (so a small OC), I have no intention of extreme OC.

EDIT: Will probably just order this... unless otherwise recommended? http://ncix.com/products/?sku=61197&vpn=01G-P3-1461-KR&manufacture=eVGA Anyway, the build is going to look almost the same if not exactly the same as the build skyR posted for me on pg 310. However, with the motherboard, why would I go for that one instead of a cheaper gigabyte H61? Also, what are NCIX's prices for shipping? Are they reasonable? Would it be worth it for me to see if I could pick up the same part at a similar price at a local retailer for larger parts like a case or monitor? Thank you once again, am looking forward to this computer.

I'd just get an Xigmatek Loki or you can buy an expensive Noctua and keep it for your next build and the build after that and so on. @scarymeerkat That is the superclocked edition and you can pricematch it down to $190: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130661 It's just an pre-overclocked version of the one that is out of stock. Shipping for an entire computer is about $30 iirc or so not including insurance. Some components have free or discounted ground shipping promotions as well. Where do you live in Canada?

The two motherboards I was referring to were: http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=59672 (currently out of stock...) and http://ncix.com/products/?sku=59565&vpn=GA-H61M-D2P-B3&manufacture=Gigabyte Any reason why the second would be a bad choice? The price is certainly tempting...

I believe there's a Canada Computers in Hamilton so you may want to check that out. It's probably best to post your entire configuration you plan on purchasing tomorrow for a final review as some prices have changed and some better deals have shown up.
