Antec Basiq Plus 550W is not very good, but it's not bad either. Not much is known about the performance, though it should fall in line with lower-end Delta units. Components are on the cheap side to keep costs low. It's £51.58. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/550w-antec-basiq-plus-modular-psu-eps-12v-120mm-fan-atx-12v-version-22 On today-only deal, XFX XXX Edition 650W is £64.79 and probably would be my pick for something that is generally of very good quality. http://www.scan.co.uk/todayonly/index.aspx If you want something fully modular, get the Silverstone Strider Plus 600W. The 500W one (ST50F-P) is a different design that's okay but has pretty droopy rails. I guess it wouldn't be as bad at the lower 300W and under loads you'd see.

What is a fair price for an used (almost 1 year) AMD 1055/Gigabyte 890 GPA UD3H. I was thinking of selling them to a friend and then using the money toward an upgrade for Sandy bridge... Good idea, or waste of money? (for me)

Whether it's a waste of money or not is dependent on who you ask. It's not that much a waste of money imo... it's a decent performance upgrade.

Well, that would be crazy to ask her to take my used part, when she can get I3 combo (+ mobo) for 159 :S What are my options out there : I5 + mobo combo? NCIX has a few combo at 300$+, not sure if they are great deals. Robert

The cheapest combo deal right now on NCIX is a MSI P67 GD65 and core i5 2500k for $380. The combo deals this week aren't good so you'll want to buy the core i5 2500k separately for $208 and a motherboard for around $110 - $200 depending on what you're looking for. edit: The core i3 2100 bundle for $160 is no longer on sale but I'm sure it'll be back sometime soon and the Pentium Sandybridge bundle will most likely drop in price soon as well.

I'm not a big gamer. Right now, only SC2. Current build runs it on max perfectly, so almost no reason to upgrade, except if i can resale those pieces for a decent price and get that upgrade! Also, as soon as i find a good deal, im going to use that 250$ futureshop gift card I have (you probably remember it) to get one of their vid card... I was thinking of eventually going Eyefinity... Not sure how much time it will take me. edit : No, I don't plan on doing any SLI/Crossfire. I might OC, if needed. The current 1055 is OCed to 3700ghz. Am not able to go over 3700 ![]()

If you want to do Eyefinity, you're going to have to do CrossfireX or you're going to be extremely disappointed with the performance. You're going to be playing at resolutions of 3240x1920 or similar in an Eyefinity setup which requires a lot of GPU power. If you're going for Eyefinity, you might as well get a core i5 2500k and overclock it to 4.5GHz - 5GHz as well =p

I think you recommended me the 6950/70 with 2gb ram for multiple monitor build. Would you recommend them again?

Currently using a AMD Phenom II x4 945 processor with a Radeon HD5770 my mobo is an Asus M4A785TD-V EVO if it matters. I was thinking GPU might be a good upgrade because I play on a 24 inch screen at 1920x1080, but then I remember reading sc2 is more focused around cpu's.. so not sure! Any help would be greatly appreciated <3

Yes, you most definitely want 6950 2GB for Eyefinity. @Avi-Love If you're struggling playing the game smoothly (no streaming) than you'll want a graphics card upgrade. If you are struggling with streaming, you either have a bad internet connection or incorrect settings since I think many people stream somewhat decently with your processor. If you're looking for a processor upgrade though, you'll looking at an Intel core i5 2500k and a P67 or Z68 motherboard since it makes little sense to upgrade from a X4 945 to a higher clocked X4 or a X6.

Here are some articles showing the performance you get for a resolution of 2560x1600: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/graphics/display/radeon-hd6970-hd6950.html http://www.anandtech.com/show/4061/amds-radeon-hd-6970-radeon-hd-6950 If you're doing Eyefinity with 3x monitors with a 1080p resolution than you're going to be playing at 3240x1920 / 5760 x 1080.

--> I'll need to crossfire a 300$ vid card = 600 --> Need 2 more screens. Assuming Asus VH236H = 300$ --> A power supply that can supply a CF build (mine is a seasonic 620W)

Assuming Asus VH236H = 300$ --> A power supply that can supply a CF build (mine is a seasonic 620W) Well the good news is that as long as you're not overclocking the video cards, a Seasonic 620W would be able to handle Crossfire HD 6950s easily. Personally I'd think the 5760 x 1080 setup would be pretty awkward, so you'd want even more expensive monitors that could be used vertically. Unfortunately now we're talking way more than the cost of a new power supply. ![]() edit: late lol
