ASRock Z68 looks nice.. but only 1 year warranty, worth it? I probably won't run SLI. I just need a nice and stable motherboard.

Unless you need integrated graphics or anything else really fancy or special, you don't really need a Z68 and can save a few bucks with the P67. If you're trying to overclock, stick with the i5-2500k, otherwise save a few bucks and get the non-K. If you're not trying to SLI, that PSU is beyond overboard... you should only need a MAX of 550w and that might even be more than you need.

If you like the Antec case which actually fits the PSU(like I do), then it's easily one of the best, if not the best PSU in terms of performance in relation to price. The 2500k is less than 10 bucks over the 2500 and I appreciate how easier it will be to overclock with it. Thanks for the mobo info, I guess... Anyways I'm pretty set on a Asus P8Z68-V.

I went with the K too to overclock, but didn't need that much wattage. I went with a P67 too but to each his own. If you're set on it then get it!

However, my cpu temperatures in Bios are scaring me into even installing Windows 7, since the temperatures seem to rise at a very rapid pace. By the time I get to bios, temp is 60 degrees or so, then it rises up to like 70 within a few seconds, and then I simply shut the computer off since it does not seem correct... What is going on? I applied thermal paste twice... seemed worse the second time. Are you sure your CPU Cooler is mounted properly? Fan is spinning? Are you OC'ed? What's your specs?

I'm going to take a picture of my thermal paste... maybe I did a bad job? Does it matter if the thermal paste is about a year old?

You don't have an aftermarket heatsink so I don't quite understand why you are applying thermal paste? The provided heatsink from Intel already has thermal paste pre-applied so you do not have to apply any extra.

That video includes a bit on mounting the heatsink properly.

Id make sure all the thermal paste is gone, then apply a small amount (No more then a small dob) as it spreads itself out evenly. You dont need alot, i used a tiny amount when i fitted my Noctua DH14 (Albeit a far superior cooler then standard) to my i7 920, and i get temps of 40*c idle whilst o/c to 4ghz, but then again it all comes down too voltage too. If you're o/c then the voltages can be higher then normal (You appear to not be in this boat) Also check too make sure the cooler is seated properly, and you're getting full contact to the cpu.

Looks like your core temps might be pushing it a bit, but I can't make your screenshot zoom well enough to be sure. Was that taken at full load?
