I'd look at the 140mm fan CPU coolers instead of 120mm. The price of the PC is already through the roof, so why not go for the best for another $30. They have very real improvement in noise as the larger fans have much lower max speed. Noctua NH-U14S is also interesting but you won't like its looks. The case you want doesn't have a window (?), so maybe still look at it. Its fan is more like 150mm and the cooler itself seems to be most excellent.

considering all of this, i realized what a fool i am. i've made these changes. i woulda went with the blue/black but microcenter doesnt have the msi mb in the $40 off bundle, so i went with the gigabyte alterantive you gave me. not sure if the ram is a good choice.

The NH-D14 is pretty old by now. The NH-U14S cooler is stronger despite only having a single fan and reportedly virtually inaudible.
If you want a two-tower cooler, the 140mm Phanteks is in stock in white color (and red color for $5 less) at newegg, which you might find okay with the white case. It should be a good bit better than the NH-D14.

Microcenter doesn't have the UD3H on bundle does it? Last time I checked, it was a UD4H at $145 in bundle. The UD4H has a red/black scheme.

Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire?
I don't know what this question means, but if it means the 2 monitor set up, I was thinking about it, but I don't actually see a huge need for it other than maybe streaming, and if I did that, I'd have to set it up much later considering it would eat pretty hard into my budget I think.

Hey guys, this build ended up being significantly more expensive than I expected. The original $1070 estimate went up a lot after some deals ended, and the total ended up around $1300, is there any way to drop the build a bit down to something like low $900s (more likely high $800's). I'm sorry about this, I really loved the build and was looking forward to it, but is there any way of keeping the awesomeness and dropping the price a bit?
EDIT: I'll also need to buy a monitor along with this build. I really loved it SkyR, it just costed too much when the deals ended  . If the build ends up in the low 1k its ok, but it can't be over $1100, because I want to save money up for a guitar (but that is kind of irrelevant info).

The maya workload is probably going to end up being non-existant. I talked to my parents and I looked at my class offerings, and if I wanted to do Maya I would be totally on my own along with the fact that I'm going to be spending my time writing a lot and reading a lot. I could continue self-teaching/watching videos online, but that looks like its going to take a serious dip in time spent on it. In general this computer is looking like it will be for playing video games, writing fiction/novels, and just general dicking around (if I end up starting a stream we'll see about that, though I think this computer can handle streaming). This looks to be about the same as the original build too, which is really sick. I'll most likely pick up the 2x8 gb at a little bit of extra cost, but that's ok the 870 is well within the budget, and perfect for me. Thank you so much SkyR!

The memory will just downclock itself don't worry, the reason Skyr advised that ram is because it's dirt cheap for such a high frequency. You basicly don't lsoe anything getting it.

What are you testing with? If you can blindly set 46x 1.24vcore without even tuning VRIN (can easily take 0.03v from your vcore) then its a pretty great CPU.
Then again, my CPU passed IBT at 4.5, 1.158v. It was still unstable by 1.19 - and 4.7, it passed hours of IBT below 1.3v, crashes in x264 all the way up to 1.35v, and then crashed in crysis 3 - not like niche instability, but failing within 15 minutes at best, 10 seconds at worst. Haswell seems really weird - i'm going to be experimenting with offset volts etc instead of manual and looking into other stuff for stability. The Sin thread is really good.

I was testing with AIDA64.
Now I am starting with IBT for 10 passes and then moving over to AIDA64.
The 46 ended up being unstable.
Don't want to stay up al night tinkering with it tonight. Will get around to it when I get some more time.
I set it back down to 44@1.2. Running AIDA overnight.
I'm trying to stay below 80c.

Below 80c worst case with HT on? That's a bit of a low target for low volts. What are you using the CPU for, or do you just want it to be really cool all the time?
80c absolute max with ht is low, is great if you want that but it's hard to justify i think, there's not really reason to have temps that low, if you can't hit 80c in a stress test, your temps will be uncomparably lower everywhere else, even significantly lower on stuff like x264 maxing CPU which is i think the hardest realistic load i will ever apply to my CPU
Did you consider delid if temps are so important to you?
And I set it back down to 44@1.2
200mhz and 0.04v lower? seems like a really big drop (slightly unstable so massive drop) you could probably tune vrin like i said to get 4.6. ~1.86vrin works best for me with extreme vrin llc on ~1.2-1.25vcore range, and if i set 1.7 or 2.0 that's enough to make an overclock that will pass IBT and hours of adia not even boot, IIRC.
You have a h220, you can go a bit more wild with clocks/volts than 1.2vcore. Dont judge your temps on a version of IBT that runs avx instructions when you have them enabled, they'll be through the roof whatever happens there because of IVR overvolting etc. I didn't see those kinds of crazy spikes anywhere outside of a stress test with AVX, nor did anyone else AFAIK, that's why we're using adia in the first place.
1.29vcore 4.6 with HT on maxes me at 74c hottest core in cinebench, it takes minutes of maxed CPU on x264 to make it pass 75c: you have notably better cooling than me, what are you doing at 1.2 volts? (: Imo set 1.3vcore, see what you can do. 34x uncore, not 35x (which makes it turbo to 39) or above, set 1.15 or 1.2vring or something. Tune VRIN, lower/raise it, see what gives you the best stability on a given Vcore. You'll probably do best with 1.85-1.9 around those volts. You can bring Uncore and RAM up later. Add 0.05 or 0.1 to system agent, dio and aio if you see instability, see if that fixes it. You can tune down what you dont need after establishing basic settings.
Download and run x264 benchmark 5.0.1 (i think that's the version) use that to judge temps and stability (as well as adia with stress cpu, fpu, cache, system memory all enabled).
You can run it, make it do pass 1 and 2 once. It'll try to run pass 1 then 2 and then repeat that four times, you don't really have to watch it do that for an hour to get ballpark clocks/volts. Pass 1 won't get CPU load or temps up (though it's cpu bound), it's Pass 2 that brings both up and is aparantly Achilles' heel for stability
Let me know how you get on, and what you want from OC if you want to tune better. The type of workloads you are going to be applying to CPU is important factor in how you OC i think. GL

I plan to use this machine to make Minecraft videos for Youtube. I will need to run Minecraft and Fraps at the same time, preferably without any stutter at all. I would like to be able to run Minecraft on the maximum render distance, and with the highest graphics settings. In particular, I would like the PC to be able to load and render chunks quickly, even in the Nether (the Nether tends to be especially laggy).
Mojang (company that makes Minecraft) recommends that you have 64-bit Java if you want to run Minecraft on Far render distance, so I really need the PC to be able to run 64-bit Java (I assume this means that the PC would be a 64-bit system, but I do not know much about that).
I also do plan on playing Starcraft II on the machine, but Minecraft is the main thing I'm getting it for, and I do not plan on making any Starcraft II videos. I also don't care about running Starcraft II on high graphics settings. Minecraft is really 98% of the reason I'm building this PC.
Obviously, since I'm making youtube videos I will be doing some editing and rendering. Currently I'm just using the free windows movie-making software (forget what it's called). While being able to render video footage while recording Minecraft with Fraps would be a nice bonus, it is not absolutely necessary, since I can always render video on my laptop while I record on the gaming PC.

Overclocking your CPU will greatly increase the video(record) quality. And $1500 is about $500 more than you need to spend.
So I would seriously reconsider on Overclocking.
E: The fastest Locked Intel parts run at 3.4Ghz. Almost every unlocked Intel part (97%+) can run at 4.4Ghz. That's a 30% increase in clock speed and as performance scales almost linearly that's ~30% more performance.

Seriously though, i'd hold out and see if Nvidia Shadowplay can give good results with recording. If it works out like it should, you might be able to record without a performance hit, or with only a very tiny one. As it stands right now, nothing in software, fraps, xsplit/obs etc, can come anywhere close to 0 performance hit, they all hurt quite a bit especially running at higher resolutions/framerates, with any system, shadowplay bypasses that some by using hardware on the GPU for video capture.
I don't know how demanding minecraft is in terms of CPU, but you shouldn't need a super high end system to do this stuff.
Nobody running windows movie maker will require 30% higher cpu performance, especially if it comes at the cost of more expensive mobo, a lot on cpu cooler and quite a lot of time, any modern performance cpu is still extremely powerful
