My IDE slave channel 0 socket is broken. I've recently bought an SSD so i had to put the SSD into the IDE master channel 1, i have my other SSD in the IDE master channel 0. My question is: Am i able to use both of these SSD's without buying a whole new motherboard?

If so, there should be no problem if it's just the one port that is broken, since SATA doesn't have master/slave setups and each port operates on its own.

HD 7950 is about 2.6 times the performance of a 550ti (there's no such thing as a GTX 550 so I'm assuming you meant 550ti). Whether or not it's worth it is up to you. Do you want to max or be close to max every single game at 1920x1080 and rarely have the FPS drop under *some threshold* (let's say, 40 or 50)? Then it's not overkill. If you're not that much of a performance enthusiast, you'll probably be happy with something like a HD 7850, which is roughly twice the performance of your 550ti. Objectively speaking, HD 7850 or 7870 are better performance per dollar but like I said, depends if the performance satisfies you or not. Here's one benchmark to help you roughly gauge graphics card performance (see 1920x1200 summary). It's done using fairly recent drivers (12.11 for AMD) so make sure you look at those bars when looking at 7000 series cards: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/Catalyst_12.11_Performance/23.html Of course, you also need to check individual games. If this "upgrade" is for SC2, there will be no performance gains as a 550ti can already max the game easily at 1920x1080

Yup, I'm using a 16 gb USB key for random stuff, and you can simply copy the contents of the Windows ISO on it. It'll boot into the Windows Setup and installing Windows works from that, ignoring other folders you have on your USB drive.

Memory is a bit expensive. Some might say other cases around $50 are better, unless you like the blue LED fan and prefer to have better cooling performance at the price at the expense of having cheapo fans which may be relatively noisy and prone to failure. Especially considering the power supply price is after rebate, you might as well get the cheaper and far superior Rosewill Capstone 450W: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182066 Z77 is okay, but may be unnecessarily expensive. Well, actually if you can get one at a low price, it's not particularly a bad idea as you can enter the UEFI (BIOS), up clock speeds by 400 MHz, and be on your merry way.

Equivalent CPU, RAM, hard drive, optical drive (qualifies for free shipping) http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=72279&promoid=1324 http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=57953&promoid=1324 http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=63468&promoid=1324 http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=78975&promoid=1324 Actually, considering the price difference between this and B75 boards, you might as well just get this Z75 Pro3 for $77 and do that "free" 400MHz overclock with half a minute of effort (stock cooler should be okay for that, leave everything on default, should be stable though properly you should check): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157304 You can thank PCPartPicker for being largely useless as usual.

But this should be about the commands that are sent to the drives, not about master and slave stuff. You should check the BIOS settings, as Windows can't use TRIM (and perhaps something else) with SSDs in IDE mode. If AHCI is off, before you turn it on, you have to Google how to prepare your Windows installation for that, as it won't boot without preparation. Hey so i followed these steps and it didnt work.... http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4170361&postcount=2

Then it's perhaps different between Windows Vista, 7, 8, etc. (for example, it's "storahci" on my Windows, not "msahci"). AHCI was there, i changed it to AHCI, it said it was installing some stuff then it booted... but the drive is still not available. Downloaded performance drivers as well, didnt change anything.
