Models with SATA3 interfaces tend to be newer and maybe have more modern, dense platters that result in slightly higher performance, but Spinpoint F3 already uses 500GB platters I think. You're just getting a single platter on both of those drives.

I have a full time job with great hours and I think it's time to invest the time/money into building my first desktop. I'm on a pretty tight deadline, and if it comes to it I'll just buy a shitty premade that will just barely play D3 and upgrade it over time. Approximate Purchase Date: before or around D3 release (May 15th) Budget Range: up to 2k USD, but i'd prefer around 1k System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming Parts Not Required: keyboard and mouse Preferred Website(s) for Parts: nothing sketchy Country: america Parts Preferences: none Overclocking: maybe/yes in the future SLI or Crossfire: what Monitor Resolution: big enough Additional Comments: -i'm thinking a case that has a lot of potential for future upgrades (when i get paid) -also thinking i7 instead of i5 -i'd prefer a quieter desktop, but not a deal breaker -apparently we can't have our own threads There's a billion ways to put together a configuration between $1000 and $2000. A core i7 is useless for gaming as games do not take advantage of hyperthreading provided by it. Corsair 550D is a sound-dampening case, less expensive ones include Antec P280 and Fractal Design Define R3. I assume you need a monitor...? So either a 120Hz monitor for $400+ or a U2312HM for ~$230 or Eyefinity setup or 2560x1440 / 2560x1600.
