edit: oh bw, you might be able to achieve a low quality 360p, maybe 240p stream? what's the minimum CPU i need to stream in 720p? thanks A modern quad core, preferably an Intel core i5. ok thanks. last question. would an amd II x3 445 or 440 be ok or must i get a modern quad core? i saw it in the OP.
Since shitty, discontinued hardware is, by nature, shit, just get a modern quad core. Streaming beats the piss out of CPU.

So, my girlfriend wants a new PC for GW2 and D3.
+ Show Spoiler [FAQ] + What is your budget? - 800 € is target dont care about +-100 What is your resolution? - 1920 x 1080 or 1920 x 1200 What are you using it for? - mainly for GW2, but also some Photoshop, recording&editing videos (SC2 for me :D), I want to try stream some LoL and if possible SC2 too - I think our internet connection will be the bottleneck for stream quality. So far I looked into the following:

Both, front and rear fans would be nice to secure good airflow.
Questions?!? 1) I am also considering to use an AMD CPU + Show Spoiler +. Are there any cases they do better, especially for gaming, recording/streaming?
2) Would it be worth to dump a bit more money into a ATI card with more memory, considering massive amount of players in WvWvW in GW2?
3) Will be a 580W PSU enough for this setup?
4) Any case (+fan) suggestions?

A Z77 board is unnecessary since you will not be doing any overclocking. Get a H67 motherboard instead which will be significantly less.
An AMD Bulldozer in every case performs worse than Intel's equivalent for gaming, there is no reason to consider it as an option for gaming and some streaming lol.
Video memory will not be a concern for Guild Wars 2. The GTX 560 Ti you listed is a regular GTX 560 Ti, not a 448 variant. But I'd pick the 7850.
580w is more than enough for such a configuration, get the 480w variant instead.

That build is pretty ok, just change the mother board to a H61 and change the GPU to a 7870.
580W is fine.
SkyR beat me to it. Take his advice.

So, I am overdue for a new laptop. Thing is, I haven't used ubuntu too much and every time I've tried to learn/use it, I have had some kind of hardware compatibility issue. So now I want to buy a laptop with ubuntu in mind. I'm looking for something in the 400-500 range and its mostly for surfing, school and programming (should handle eclipse fairly well). Suggestions is welcomed with thanks!

lol at that GTX listing, must have messed some link up^^ My reasoning behind that Z77 board was native support for USB3.0 which I totally want since I already got a USB3 external HDD for backup. Also it will support Ivy Bridge and with that PCIe3.0 for future upgrades (I can replace CPU+GPU w/o need to change Mobo!?)
Considered AMD CPU because I already talked to some guys in PC (component) shops, they said AMD ones should be better performance/price, also have some AMD fans among my friends^^

7870 is like 100bucks more O_O ?!? is that performance that much better?
PSU: what now? 480, 500, 580? Or even some case with a PSU builtin (550W)

H77 boards also have native USB3 and PCI-E 3.0 and is also significantly less than Z77 -_- PCI-E 3.0 is useless - by the time that PCI-E 3.0 can be saturated by a single card, you'll be getting a new motherboard anyways... Plus upgrading from Sandybridge to Ivybridge is pretty stupid lol. Since you aren't purchasing until May, you may as well just get a 3470 or 3550 instead.
I'd tell you Bulldozer was awesome too if I wanted to move inventory.

People trying to sell stuff & people who are blind fans.
Intel is just better both in terms of price/performance (at any price point!) AND in terms of maximum raw performance. It's not what any of us want from a competitive market point of view, but it is what it is, and there's no point to pay the same or more money for an inferior product.
The numbers don't lie. Just look at benchmarks of an i5 2400 vs the much more expensive "eight core" FX-8150. Scroll down for gaming. Bulldozer gets bulldozered =(

the ONLY moment you might wanna consider AMD is for low end streaming, while on a budget, then a x4 955 would be the best bet, but that's like... the only situation basicly?

Well its better than a 580 by quite a bit and even challenges a 7950 at times so yeah the performance is indeed that much better but if you can't afford it then no biggie at all.

I don't know too much about SSD controllers but just by searching some older threads/googles the Sandforce controller performance wise is pretty good but they crap out earlier to it's more ideal to buy a Crucial M4 because it doesn't use that controller.
My question is is the M4 controller really that more reliable? And OCZ's Vertex 4 came out which uses the Indilinx Everest 2 controller. Should I get the Indilinx Everest 2 SSD or the Crucial M4 or did something about the Sandforce change so that they're ok now since it's kinda been a while?
Sorry if I'm wrong anywhere I read what I can but this technology shit moves super fast lols...

Depends how much your time and aggravation is worth. Personally, I wouldn't ever touch a sandforce drive, because I don't want to end up like this guy: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2238813 or any of the hundreds of other threads I've seen where one day someone tries to boot their PC and it... doesn't' boot because sandforce is having problems.
You don't save much money even on a 128GB SSD by going with Sandforce instead of Marvel.

Hey guys, I'm building a new computer but I'm pretty much a scrub when it comes to this hardware stuff.
My requirements for the stream are: 1. Be able to run Diablo 3 on very high settings 2. Be able to run a good quality stream while playing D3 on very high 3. Be able to stream with a Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle. I'm a competitive Street Fighter player, and I need to be able to stream from Xbox. I'm going with the Shuttle so that I can move to laptop streaming in the future.
I know you guys are mostly SC2, but I've heard really good stuff about your tech forum so I'd really appreciate your help :3
Here is a tentative build I threw together. I'm almost certain that there's going to be some problems with it, so please let me know what they are, cause I need the help.
I'm going to play on a 1920x1080 monitor, but I also have a 1650x1080 monitor, and it would be cool to use both while streaming (game on the big one, chat and xsplit on the small)
My budget is pretty flexible, but I don't want want to waste money on some super-good hardware I don't need, so as long as it meets my requirements I'm good, but I'd rather not go overboard.

Your build consumes minimal power so 600W is simply unnecessary. I think an Antec 450c is pretty cheap now? I dunno check back a few pages for some of the usual suspects.
Since you are overclocking you need a CPU cooler. Pick up a hyper 212+.
1600 RAM, as well as 12gbs of it is unnecessary. You can save quite a bit of money going with 2 kits of 1333 4gb.
Dont buy a 5900 HDD unless you have an SSD or a legacy 7200 RPM drive somewhere. Slow load times will kill your streaming experience.
$164 motherboard is also unnecessary. Get something like an ASRock Pro3 motherboard, should be around $100
550Ti is pointless. Get a radeon 6850 which performs better and costs less while doing it. Or use the money I saved you above to buy a better GPU anyway. I saved you around $80 or so (after getting the cooler) with no loss of performance so might as well.

I heard asrock isn't compatible with blackmagics. Illmake the other changes though. Thanks bro! How many watts should I aim for on the power supply?

Personally, I wouldn't ever touch a sandforce drive, because I don't want to end up like this guy: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2238813 or any of the hundreds of other threads I've seen where one day someone tries to boot their PC and it... doesn't' boot because sandforce is having problems. You don't save much money even on a 128GB SSD by going with Sandforce instead of Marvel.
The Everest 2 firmware for Vertex 4 is also based on the Marvell controller, a newer and faster version than which is in M4. Not a bad choice I'd think, but M4 is obviously a bit safer since it's been out for a while. Other than that, people ask about Sandforce on every page, I don't get it. Yeah, they had a terrible past because of everyone freaking out from constant BSOD and the Sandforce team weren't able to pinpoint the problem and blamed others, now the units are okay for 99% of the users but the reputation still lingers.
The units with Marvell controller (Plextor M3, Crucial M4, Intel 510, Corsair Performance Pro Vertex 4 etc..) are preferable in terms of proven stability, they provide a nice base which then the manufacturers can build and tweak firmware to their liking.

Considered AMD CPU because I already talked to some guys in PC (component) shops, they said AMD ones should be better performance/price, also have some AMD fans among my friends^^
Bulldozer gets bulldozered =( http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/363?vs=434
Well, if you like zipping there is no reason not to get a bulldozer.

It's not about wattage its about build quality. Check the OP on the first page. An Antec 380D can run your system fine.
As for the Blackmagic thing I have no idea why ASRock motherboards would be incompatible.
The dollar range is still important though.

Sandforce got its rep before the BSOD issue with its second generation controller lol. Vertex 4 is not preferred, why would you even consider buying from this company? -.-

Edit: @below - oh. LOL. Well, learn something new every day. I'm still not trusting OCZ firmware.

Nah, it's been confirmed that OCZ just lied to our faces and is actually using a Marvell controller with their own firmware.
