PC360 is open (non-isolating), while PC350 is closed, so that in of itself is a large practical difference.

Any thoughts/experience on the Sharkoon X-Tatic SR Surrond Headset? Amazon will give discount on it at 2pm ^^
As I am thinking about replacing my old headset which is a bit uncomfortable around the ears after a while...

Else I was looking at the SS Siberia v2 and the tT eSports Shock one...guess both are pretty much equal?
I dont want any USB ones as I have good soundcard and dont see any reason why I should not use it

Idk about you guys, but I love my PC350 from Sennheiser

I don't know why you guys don't like it. I think that for the price it's a lot better than most other headphones. It's not GREAT for listening to music, but it's got a nice mic and the audio quality is pretty good. A lot better than most gaming headsets I have used, especially since I'm coming off of owning a turtle beach headset =/

Idk, maybe I'm biased or something but I think that these are really great headphones/headset.

Beware the razer carcharias. I've had two of them now, and the same problem has occurred in both. After about a year to year and a half, the sound cuts out in one side. Something about the wiring is not very durable. I also had the mic stop working in my second one. They're very comfortable and work great for the first year or so, but damn I wish they would be more durable.

I'm in the market for a headset that can easily go between my PC and my PS3 (which i also play on my monitor). Is there a great headset that I can attach to something like an Astro Mixamp pro and not have any issues with sound and mic? I'm looking at around a budget of 300 CDN. Wireless headsets would also be considered (if not using a mixamp)

Looking to find two pairs of ATH-AD700's in Canada. Anyone know a retailer that sells to Canada for a reasonable price (Max $150 with import duties + shipping). NCIX carries them but wont ship to Canada (already emailed their support).

Man, its so confusing trying to settle on a headset.

I got some money from Christmas I want to spend, but every review I have read of gaming headsets have said that the audio (fror music) is too poor or that the shape is too uncomfortable.

Can anyone suggest the best headset for someone that loves loud electronic music, gaming (RTS/FPS) and extended use (4-6h a day perhaps) costing between US$80-150?

I've looked at:

Sennheiser 360 (Read that the bass is too poor for music)
Sennheiser 333D/330 (Cups too uncomfortable)
Logitech G35 (Decent but not special in any sector)
Steelseries Siberia (Cheaper than the rest - so worse?)

How much does 7.1 and 5.1 Sound make?

I cannot make my mind up at all!

Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

7.1 and 5.1 are marketing gimmicks. Ignore in favor of subjective reviews. They may be technical specifications, but they're not a feature.

The best option is to get a good set of headphones (more on that later) and use some other separate microphone (a clip-on mic, webcam mic, or stand-alone mic). If for some reason, you're stubborn and demand a headset, well, it'll cost more and do less, but whatever.

I'd recommend going here OCN's Most Commonly Recommended Audio Products Thread and reading for a bit (headphones/headsets start at post 2). Keep in mind that audiophiles are fanatics, they go overboard, so don't buy too much into their "spend more and more and pretend it's that much better." But that poster writes well, and gives you a good idea of what stuff is better for what purpose.

One generic suggestion would be waiting around until you found a pair of Audio Technica AD700 headphones and buying a clip-on mic (~$10-15) or even getting a cheap webcam, most of which have mics (~$25). If you wanted, you could even fit in a cheap sound card, but I wouldn't bother. This would be a play a lot of FPS & want the potential for directional footstep cues, don't care about strong bass (but otherwise good for music) option. Supposedly AT-AD700s are bloody huge, so if you have a mis-shapen giant's head they should be quite comfortable, but if you have a teeny pinhead they might be prone to falling off.

Another generic suggestion would be Samson SR850 studio headphones ($50 at Amazon) paired with cheap mic solution & possibly an Asus Xonar DS sound card ($50 at Newegg). If you consider a sound card, make sure you have an appropriate expansion slot available on your computer. PCI for the DS, PCI-e for most others (two very different and not compatible connections). This would be the solution for trying to do everything well. There's a sound card for those who think they make a big difference (opinions are mixed - my on board sound is quite old and extraordinarily shitty, at least in the features available, but the newer on board cards are supposed to be much much better, but some few still aren't satisfied), and the headphones should be capable of both positional cues in FPS and some bass presence.

Note, however, that I don't own or have personal experience with this equipment. I'm merely distilling knowledge gained from perversely enjoying computer window-shopping. So I can't comment on, say, how comfortable the SR850s are. I will say that you should be able to get some quality equipment for your budget.

And if worse comes to worse, people do say the siberas are comfortable.

mmhh kinda confused atm. heared good things about the siberias and its kinda cheap at 67€ for the complete package. the sony xb 500 /700 sound interesting too but while i very rarely use voice stuff nowadays i wouldnt mind having it.

whats to say about size? comfort on them? willing to spend around 70€, can go higher, can go lower ~~

those ad700 things arent available in the shops i plan to order (would order them soon with some other stuff)

I bought a Fatal1ty headset http://amzn.to/zzh7qQ from amazon,. I think it was like 60$ then (now its showing as 40$)

good deal as it has good sound and good quality mic. I still use it for SC2 and MW3 (i bought it in July 2010) but you have to take care of it.

I wanted advice from somone who has gone through MANY headsets (3-4 mid to high end headset) is it worth it spending 50$-100$ on one ?: )

also anyone tried the turtle beach Z6A ? ( i saw the ad on TL so ) .

I just ordered a pair of ATH AD-700's online and am looking for a sound card. I have a budget of $100 but dont really want to spent that much.

Now i've been looking at http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX33909 , it's the only xonar i see that explicitly states it has a headphone amp and it's cheap too. I'd like to have optical out as I have a pioneer amp and sound system plugged into my TV that I enjoy playing music through. I'm looking for the ability to hear footsteps with pinpoint accuracy.

There's no such thing as pro-gaming headset in my mind.
In most competitive games, sound samples are only there to make you acknowledge important events...

But if you're into immersive gaming, then its a very personal choice.
Some people will prefer surround sound headphones (5.1 or 7.1) while others will focus on sound quality.
Others may value comfort or extra components like volume nod/mute button instead.

I would personally go for comfort and volume accessibility over anything because surround sound is for home-theater purpose while sound quality is for HD-music enjoyment. So for gaming... I go with basics but comfy headphones. If you plan to have more than one use to those headphones, then you could invest more money to have great headphones for all usage.

I was thinking of buying x2 Razer Tiamat 7.1. Sure it might be the marketing - but I fucking love shiny shit, and this looks shiny as fuck.

What do you think? Are they really as good as they sound? (sorry about the pun, it just happened)

Thanks for any responses!!

So I'm looking for a new headset. I got a used one for cheap awhile back, but the mic quality and volume is so terrible, I'm looking for something else. Is it pretty much across the board- separate mic is better? And if I buy a cheap webcam or mic from Walmart is it going to be fairly decent? I'm not a recording studio, but I do want to be able to communicate without repeating myself or just giving up altogether.

And if a separate mic is best, what sort of good headphones should I get?(British Columbia- we do have NCIX) Between the mic and the headphones I would want to push it past $100. I like a good sound- not tinny, but being able to wear it for a long time is useful as the set I have now has a good sound, but hurts fairly quickly.
