I'm not sure if this has ever been brought up in any of the SC2 stuff out there. So if it has, please delete this.
The one thing that could've served me a lot of use on numerous occasions in SC games was whenever one of my allies was being attacked and I'd be too lazy or inattentive to notice it. And being oblivious to the situation, I would end up wasting valuable seconds of game time, and my ally would end up dead or too crippled to continue.
Anyone else think that there should be a voice that informs you that "Your ally is under attack", in addition to "We are under attack" ?
|
I think that feature is already in SC. You know, the message you get immediately after an attack on your ally, something like "OMFG U NUB WHYD U IGNOR ME FUCK ASSHAT HACKER"

On a serious note, I'm pretty sure that Blizzard will have ally-alerts in SC2. It was in WC3, and practically all recent RTS games.

It fucking annoys me to no end, but yeah, it's a useful feature. Usually my teammate tells me, though.
OUR ALLY IS UNDER ATTACK OUR TOWN IS UNDER SIEGE OUR ALLY IS UNDER ATTACK OUR TOWN IS UNDER SIEGE
Goddamnit

If you're gonna play with a friend I strongly recommend using ventrilo/teamspeak.
Still a nice feature for random online 2v2's though.

Random 2v2 on LT:
(Computer Voice) YOUR ALLY IS UNDER ATTACK YOUR ALLY IS UNDER ATTACK WHY AREN'T YOU HELPING? YOU ARE SUCH A JACKASS
|
This kinda takes away from the people who have better "mini-map eyes". It'll probably be added into sc2, but i'd hope otherwise.

unless you are ally with a comp, this shit probably wont happen. How hard is it to ping yourself on the mini map, or type 'help'?

I hope you mean you don't want warning-messages in neather 1v1 or 2v2 then. Otherwise it doesn't make sense.
|
Don't cite minimap eyes this has nothing to do with spotting units blips running just inside vision. this is attack/defend there should be the message for when they are under attack. If you see the enemy units coming to the allies base with ur minimap eyes 5-10 seconds before they actually hit, there you go. Thats your skill advantage.

I really think that those alt + click yellow boxes on the minimap are more than enough, if the ally feels he needs help than he should point it out that way.

It'd be really cool if they made a different one for each race
OUR TERRAN BRETHEREN REQUIRE ASSISTANCE

I posted with the idea that sometimes the people with "bad eyes" wont even realize his ally was being engaged/overrun (yes some people stay oblivious to a mixing of little blips on the mini). That's what i meant that it would take away from the people with better eyes.

I hope its in there, but I hope there is an option to turn it off (or all voice warnings//alerts of the nature for that matter)
|
I hope they make maps specifically for 2v2s, either where both allies start near each other or everyone gets a ramp at the least. travel time between bases is long enough, and units/buildings die fast enough, that it can be very hard when you're as far from your ally as your enemy
seems like one person getting gang banged while the other counters is so common

Very useful. I don't know why Blizz wouldn't implement it.

Yeah last time I played with a friend in 2v2 Starcraft with Ventrilo he just started screaming when like 6 Zerglings came to his base mid-game -____-;;;

Well there should be an option to turn it off. Especially for UMS games.
And even if its a 2v2 or something, i don't want a voice constantly telling me about my ally. A big reason why "Your forces are under attack" is useful is because it only says that when its not on the main screen. For your ally, it would nearly always be off the main screen so it might be really annoying.

haha that reminds me i hate it when im doing really good and it seems we are winning the game when i check my own base and i find that its ravashed how come i never hear that even i am under attack?
