DreamHack Masters Season 1 invites announced

The first round of invites for each region of the new EPT system has been decided. They are based on current EPT standings and include results of TSL5. It had previously been announced that players would keep previously earned EPT points and carry them over to the regional divisions. These invites make up 25% of each region's division, with the rest determined through qualifiers. Players' regions are mostly determined by residency.

(Wiki)Scarlett, (Wiki)SpeCial and (Wiki)Astrea have decided to play in their "home" divisions while simultaneously participating in the second season of GSL Code S.

(Wiki)Elazer and (Wiki)uThermal particularly benefited from strong showings in TSL5 to jump safely into the European invite slots for Season 1. (Wiki)TIME benefited as well: his 35 Pro Tour points are the only ones currently registered by a Chinese player and earned him the direct seed into the Chinese division.

(Wiki)Clem, meanwhile, proved that ESL Weekly Cups are indeed a valuable competition for players, as his 105 points gained from them earned him an invite he otherwise would not have qualified for.

Overview of the new EPT system.

Every division has a slightly different format, from which a set amount of top finishers re-qualify for the next season. In Europe, for example, the top 12 of the division retain their spots in the league. If you want to read up on changes made to the ESL Pro Tour as a response to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, you can find an overview here.

Why no second invitee for Oceania and China?

No, they will be invited directly to the main Masters event. You could say that GSL is the Koreans' qualification tournament.

Because TIME and Risky are the only players from their regions who have more than 0 EPT points.

Risky also kind of bought his ticket by being to only player from his region to flew to Katowice where he got all his point by showing up to the qualifiers.

Does that mean, that Special, Scarlett and Astrea can t qualify for Katowice through the Korean circuit? Would be fair
E: also just noticed, that Namshar is listed as NA player nice to see that, will defnatly spice up the competition over there

He is ranked 10# in EU. Should be easy for him to qualify.

I find this again highly unfair but well whatever, looking forward to the tournaments

The EU qualifier is going to be PvP fest
Almost all the top T and Z are invited allready, but only Showtime from P.
Most noteable Players left are:
T - Soul
Z - Bly, Denver, Vanya
P - Harstem, Ptitdrogo, Mana, Skillous, Dns, Goblin, Gungfubanda
Edit: I gues, when I include Goblin, I also should include Mlord and Stehpano.. It s still going to be super P heavy though It s going to be a clown fiesta

Yeah but probe plays in the weekly cups, while you don't.

There are 24 spots available on top of the 8 best already qualified, we're going to get everyone. Everyone with a name will be in and many people with half a name as well.

This is true for every region I believe.

If there are two spots and Probe played in the weekly cups then he should be in shouldn't he?

I mean, PiG played in the weekly cups. It isn't true that there is only one player with EPT points, there must be another reason for the only one invite.

Nvm I'm an idiot, you can play in the weekly cups and not get points lol

Oh well fair enough then, both of you would probably have qualified anyway

While this is probably really good for the scene, promoting new talent and give a lot of ppl a shot at winning money who otherwise wouldn't have one ( or bound to expenses like flight, hotel and other travel accomodations), I'm probably only watching some of the playoffs and then ofc the season finale. Maybe with the exception of some clown fiesta games that are must watch. My reason beeing, that these are a lot of games and most of them involve low tier players.

I know this sounds horrible, but let's be honest here.
Or maybe that's just me
