I like the nod to Starcraft’s spiritual home, plus I like the Bo5 change a lot too, more Starcraft and theoretically makes it more likely the better players make the Ro8

The only part of this I don’t like is all of one group’s matches being on one day. By the last match both players are going to be gassed after playing two high-pressure Bo5’s. Four matches per day, one per group would make more sense, but I guess Blizzard wants the tournament to be as done as quickly as possible.

It brings some hype to the Korean scene and gives us the stellar Afreeca production with a real studio audience instead of the empty-studio-nasl-sound-guy-waiting-fest we're used to. I bet it even saves Blizzard money.
This also means that we will finally get a blizzcon where everyone is equally jetlagged. Way to achieve balance, guys.
As for the foreigners, since they have nothing else to do at the moment they can just fly in to Seoul early to get used to the time zone and enjoy the advantage of the superior practice environment.
If they get there too early they will accidentally teach the Korean Zergs how to play ZvZ, seems risky.
LOL, lost my coffee on that one, well played.

Even if Korea has a relatively small fanbase (last night's Code S finals peaked at like 3700 viewers on AfreecaTV), Korean players still account for HALF of the Global Finals, while Koreans account for like 95%+ of all the success in high level SC2 progaming. I think it's reasonable enough to cater to Korea this ONE time out of six seven Global Finals . I agree, but this isn't really catering to Korean fans. 12 pm on a weekday? That's not a good time slot. Really it seems that blizzard are catering to NA fans (west coast fans) with that evening broadcast. Well in that case the California broadcast wasn't even good for NA fans, because they started on a Thursday at 9:30AM Pacific time. TL;DR: unite against greedy Europeans?
Are we talking about the same thing? I was referring to the global finals ro16 in Seoul which will be held at 8:00 pm pacific and noon in Korea. And Europeans have to get up at 4 am.

Are European really bitching about getting up at 4am once to watch Blizzcon. It's like zerg players complaining about that one time they lose a late game zvp

Get up at 4:30, skip the talking, watch the first game on your cell in bed, take a shower during the break, second match with your coffee

We are gonna have an an actual audience, and BO5 helps the better player. Wonder who will cast the games in Korea and in America?

This is a fantastic event. Great work by Blizzard to create and support this.

I really like this idea. To anyone saying “oh no the foreigners” have to travel are forgetting the Koreans have to travel to BlizzCon every year. Hoping for good performances from special, Serral, trap and TY if he can make it

Only a few days to get from Korea to California? The jet lag is gonna suck.
