Love the best of 5 rule. More games <3

Times are meh, but I guess I'll watch the vods in the evening. Sucks for live viewer numbers

I’ve been saying the group Stage matches needed to be Bo5 for a long time. It’s criminal to spend all year trying to qualify and then the possibility of “2-0, 2-0, see ya in half an hour of gaming.”

I think this is a good thing because people will actually be able to watch the Ro16 instead of playing in a vacuum although I do question the fairness of having it in Korea. But at least we know there will be interest! Hopefully they fly the Circuit players out early enough to adjust and do the same for BlizzCon because no one likes it when someone says they couldn’t play well cuz of jet lag....

Stupid. Stupid stupid stupid. Between 6-12k watched the GSL final this morning. WCS EU qualifiers attracted more viewers than that.

Well, for context, Korean fans have dealt with bad time zones for Global Finals for the entire time modern WCS has existed (2013~). Even if Korea has a relatively small fanbase (last night's Code S finals peaked at like 3700 viewers on AfreecaTV), Korean players still account for HALF of the Global Finals, while Koreans account for like 95%+ of all the success in high level SC2 progaming. I think it's reasonable enough to cater to Korea this ONE time out of six seven Global Finals .

I agree, but this isn't really catering to Korean fans. 12 pm on a weekday? That's not a good time slot. Really it seems that blizzard are catering to NA fans (west coast fans) with that evening broadcast.

Well in that case the California broadcast wasn't even good for NA fans, because they started on a Thursday at 9:30AM Pacific time. TL;DR: unite against greedy Europeans?

Are we talking about the same thing? I was referring to the global finals ro16 in Seoul which will be held at 8:00 pm pacific and noon in Korea. And Europeans have to get up at 4 am.

Are European really bitching about getting up at 4am once to watch Blizzcon?

Staying up is surely the better option? How the fuck does one wake up at 3:30am?

Get up at 4:30, skip the talking, watch the first game on your cell in bed, take a shower during the break, second match with your coffee

Haha thats an hilariously great idea, for me timezone wise it starts at 05:00 in sweden so its not quite that bad.

To top it off I work my last day at my current work the 23rd october and my new work starts the 4th of november. I'm so ready for this, will still miss two of the days due to moving to a new city but it will probably be worth.

I have to say I love this news though, having the groups in korea puts a lot of hype behind it, adds a famed venue, spectators and really great production. Besides that it sets the stage for Maru to actually deliver =P

I feel the same about bo5, sure it could make the series tedious and it will be rough on the players but we are talking about the bloody world championship finals here. The most important thing is that we get to see the best players in the world duke it out at Blizzcon and this setup ensures that. The best players are more likely to move on from bo5s and we also get winners that are actually the most skilled in longer series and that lessens the risk that one trick ponnies go to blizzcon and then bomb out 0-4 in the first set. Seriously so hype~

For those of us who didn’t win the lottery for a chance to buy Blizzcon tickets, this is a chance to go see all the WCS Global Finalists play.

Is there a guide for foreigners on which hotels are near the FreecUp studio and how to use transit to get there? It’s too bad Creighton just left Korea, I think he used to help foreigners get to GSL.

Ive been there 3x and its really easy. Creighton helped me so big ups to him.

Just go to the green line and go to Samseung station, wouldn't really recommend staying in Gangnam (the area where Afreeca station is at). I would recommend staying in HongDae for access to the subway or Itaewon ($5 taxi to the place)

For people complaining about time zone stuff. Just watch the VOD. Yeah it's not as good, but really? Viewership numbers will be lower, but the event is going to benefit from being in Korea. It's a good move, overall, imo. Most people can't realistically watch these things live, anyway--no matter what time it's on. It's always gonna be bad for somebody.

I, for one, am hyped as hell.

I'm very pleased and excited about the bo5 format in Korea with a live audience. I've always felt in years past that the lower half of the players who don't make it to the BlizzCon stage somehow get massively robbed. This change should make the whole experience better not only for the players involved, but also for us spectators and fans.

Super pumped for this!

I absolutely cannot wait for this X_X. Possibly, probably, more exciting than the Ro8.

We need to know what's happening with Classic! What the hay.
