Lets use this post to talk about models in Starcraft 2. Maybe Blizzard will look at it from time to time and if enough peeps chime in about a certain model/terrain they can relook at it in its beta stages..
Also before I kick it off, i will say that every building i have seen gets an A++++++. The Terran and Protoss buildings are just awesome looking and i cannot wait to see the Zerg Buildings in their 3D glory.
I'll start it off.
Siege Tanks - I really hope that model is a place holder, it just does not capture the feel of the original, the tank itself looks ok in Tank mode but the siege mode tank looks too much like a building/bunker. The sound effects also are kinda "meh" but thats for another thread.
Protoss Cannon - The model itself is excellent, but the firing animation is odd, In the original SC the Photon cannon would stay "up" instead of having to retreat back into its shell after every shot. I just looks kinda goofy to me thats all.

keeping in mind that this is only the pre alpha (or so we're told)
i agree alot with the lack of good unit models/textures. Really colourfull and shiney
look at the terran bunker and the seige tank, the zealot and the marine.... we can only hope.
graphics dont make the game, but they DO make the game better.

I agree. The tank should look more sleek in siege mode.
It looks pretty boxy right now

The zeals just look a bit wrong to me, idk why.

I must say, I enjoy most of the art in the game so far... I think it captures the spirit of the original Starcraft very well. Still, there's always room for improvement:
1. Siege Tank - I agree, it's a little underwhelming... It looks too square-ish and the blast isn't as impressive as it could be.
2. Colossus - Looks too mechanicalized to me... The Protoss use machines, sure, but they also are very human-like and organic at the same time. Take the original reaver, for example... Even though it was just a robot, it was very characteristic and "living" as well. The Colossus just looks too... cold and machine-like, and the laser beams look too cheap sci-fi.
3. Marines - Overall look very good, except for the dorky shield... Come on, Terran marines are no-nonsense, aggressive, criminal mofos with no regard for safety... They WOULD NOT carry around a big nerdy shield around. Two hands around the "Impaler", please!
4. Stalkers - Very cool concept and good unit, but they're a little too tall and look a bit too Star War-ish.
Oh, and make the Battlecruisers a bit bigger... Other than that, big thumbs-up for the art so far!

Mothership - Just the look is freaking cool, self rotating with a city or something in it. Just looks like a "Mothership" should look. A flying base with enormous power. Great designed!
Zerg Worms - Really good looking transport system for Zerg, animation and sound is great. I like it.
Immortals - I like the animation of the shield when the powerful shots strike and I like the sounds and movement, what I don't like is the skin.
Edit:
Ghost - Crazy, I think this unit is nearly perfect, it looks so friggin' cool! The sentence "You called down the thunder" gave me goosebumps with this voice! Awesome unit. The rifl sound is also GREAT! Listen to it. Sweet. Orgasmic. Sorry to be happy like this.

Was I the only one reminded of Dune Sandworms by the Nydus worms? Very cool.

Zergling and tanks are a bit iffy in stillframes but look ok in action
Everything else is just A+ awesome OMG collossus and reapers are so cool!

I hated Phoenix most of all. It just looks bland and moves weird. It lacks the subtle details which made SC1 flyers look alive, such as drifting, more pronounced accelereation/deceleration, engine lights... Also "overload" concept looks silly, why should it suddenly start shooting projectiles at ALL near targets instead of just increasing damage/rate of fire on a single target? I think something like it exploding in a fiery cloud of death and then being reborn but unable to act for some time would pay the name "phoenix" more justice.
Tank in siege mode is wrong. It looks funny and not awe-inspiring as it should do.
Zealots are OK, but the attack animation should be IMO done less anime-looking and quicker.
And zergling masses just rock! The wings seem strange on them though, but I think this is done so that they also may jump cliffs with an upgrade.

I am glad the cannon has to retract - maybe the fag ass toss can't rape my lings as fast now.

I agree with Tiamat in both points. The siege tank looks horrible, doesnt even compare to the original design. Also I agree with some of the points raised by other people: - Zeals look cool but there seems to be something wrong/missing. - The collossus looks weird. The concept itself is great (laser firing robot on tall legs) but the design is a bit off in my opinion. - Marines should get with the times and put down their shields. - Stalkers are an awasome unit but what Gokey said. I think they should make them look a bit more like a goon (same thing goes for the Immortals which I dont like btw). - The Phoenix sucks. It looks crappy and Im not feeling the whole multiple shot ability. Corsairs looked better and had a better name. - I have the same problem with Zerglings as with the Zealots. Looks ok but...

The phoenix attack seems - to me - like a valkyrie attack with cooldown. Not too bad.

I think all these units will be put in a better perspective once a storyline for the campaign is developped and released.
By now all we know is their pre-alpha models, a very basic idea of what they will PROBABLY be able to do, and pretty short gameplay demos to show us how they move etc.
Like he said, nothing is final and if they change only half as much as they did from alpha Starcraft to Broodwar, there's no point in discussing this yet. For all I know it's pretty fucking great from both a design and the flavour perspective and I especially want to emphasize how I love the colours or more exact, the lack of it.
Makes it look more like a mature game and not RTS-World of Warcraft. GOGO BLIZZARD!

The new zealot is the best thing ever...
WE ARE THE BLADES OF AUIR

They should look manlier. And the siege tank could look better.

What do you want? Stuffed crotches and beards?

The Colossus, looks like it was ripped right from War of the Worlds.

About the only unit I didn't like was the tank. Somehow, it just didn't seem to me to fit in with the rest of the units. It reminded me more of some sort of building than a proper siege tank.

I cba with toss feeling, I so need to see more of the zerg, but what I've seen is incredibly promising.
Hope they fix the terran siege tank look, rest is mighty cool .
