Parting (who beat byul as well to qualify), mma, among other lesser tier Koreans who made it showed Byul must not have been practicing too much knowing his end was nearing. This was just the nail in the coffin. When a foreigner knocks out a korean out of GSL it's earned. When a korean did knock out a foreigner out of a foreign tournament it was "filthy faceless korean robbing foreigners of their deserved prize money, Blizzard pls!"

In that analogy, imagine if "foreigners" were getting jobs in the US while people born in the US aren't allowed to work in any other country. That is what's happening here.

Don't act like it was a handful of Koreans doing well in foreign tournaments. 75% of all of the money-paying positions were taken by Koreans, leaving foreigners only the scraps in the Ro8. Being a progamer was a non-option for every foreigner outside of those at the very top.

Also, prior to this, Americans worked in other countries and obtained most of their money such that people couldn't afford to pay anyone else money. The foreigners who were able to gain jobs in America deserve them. Of course, there's more nuance in the SC2 situation, but if we're simplifying things, these need to be added. But on topic, I also agree that it's sad that Byul has lost motivation. I remember him being very emotional over losses, so I know he feels very deeply about winning and losing.

Foreigners can have their own welfare tournaments if they want, the issue is clearly with them having those as well as taking spots in Korean tournaments.

His point is it was a clear exaggeration of the representation of non Koreans players in GSL to make it comparable to the trainwreck of a regional tournament that WCS AM was. Nothing more, nothing less.

BYUL GO TO FORTNITE. A mainstream esport. Not one of the "wannabe esport," Blizzard "esport," "weird esport," or financially retarded esports. Have just as or more fun, have a larger fanbase, and make money that will last you for decades if not your entire life. User was temp banned for this post.
