*4 players will qualify from their final placement at the WCS Leipzig Pre-season

4 players will qualify from their current rank on the competitive ladder
8 players will qualify from the online open qualifiers

North America qualifiers will run April 7-8
Europe qualifiers will run April 9-10

The main WCS Challenger tournament will run on weekends beginning April 14

So basically the same thing as last year?

I was hoping for a format that is better at giving exposure to the players. That's one thing that was really lacking last year--making Challenger feel a bit like a real event rather than just one more set of qualifiers.

They added a group stage and only 4 players qualify through the ladder instead of 8 compared to last year, right?

Btw information is already plural, informations does not exist. Classic mistake for us euros

The difference is only 4 through GM instead of 8. ( because of WCS Ro4, half GSL)

I can congratulate the person responsible for scheduling. It will be amazing to see how players participating in Nationwars finals on April 21 will be able to play both challenger and the said finals and what a treat for viewers as well, we will have to watch on 2 monitors :-)

Another random banned for voicing his/her opinion. The worst part? He is probably right. BZ makes zero efforts to even advertise those Challenger events. Most of people don't even know. A post on TL will not be enough nor 1 tweet one hour before the event either.

More group stages is always nicer than se or de brackets, but this does mean top 4 of the respective region right?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the qualifiers could attract a large crowd too, not just the basement in Cologne(?) with room for 13 people...
