It's kind of okay vs protoss compositions and terran mech. I've been trying it a bit on Mist, Vermillion, and Lock. Once I have a big enough pack of pheonixes to defend waves (12-15?), I start spending gas on immortals to push instead.
Tempests may be the most all-round composition, but I find them to be the most tedious way to play.
On Scythe, everyone I play in Pub games always push the non-expo shard first.
For late game, when going robo and there is money left, adding some phoenixes for lifts is actually quite nice depending on enemy compositions.
Also yeah, storms stack, I didn't know it was only since recent patches :D

Noted on the stacking storms.. Thanks for pointing out!

Guardian Shell has some bug that when your army get the shell they still can be hart from some attack , such as Symbiote and Brutalisk from Abathur , Zealot from Amon
you can see the bug from the first rep(No.35 with 104K ) in here. http://bbs.ngacn.cc/read.php?tid=13841027
before 5:42, a marine in shell be hurt from 14hp to 5hp

As of the recent patch, is expanding with orbital strike and 2 zealots with a 21 - 9 split for the 3rd mastery (chrono or SoA energy) for a early shield overcharge viable?

Looking for insight with new dragoon buffs that just went live, any thoughts?

"Weak Anti-air"
Oh, come on, that's total BS. Artanis's answer to air is some High Templars and Archons and MASS Dragoons.
I've beaten even the most difficult Sky Terran composition that starts with Vikings... with only Dragoons. They just obliterate everything in the air. The Banshees may be a little tricky as they are light and Dragoons deal bonus damage against the armored, but they can be easily taken out with the Orbital Strikes.

It was true at that time, now with recent changes in Phoenix and Dragoons anti-air is pretty good now. Gotta say with recent buffs, Dragoons are fairly good now, and they can be the backbone of your army, at mid-late game, adding Phoenix and Templar to support, Phoenix to lift hard-hitting units (tanks, disruptor...), and templar to storm numerous units (marine, ling-bane...) and help healing the dragoons. This composition is especially strong if you can have healing from your allies, and it can deal with almost any composition, terran mech is the only one I have trouble with due to Thors wrecking my Phoenix.

Love Phoenixes on the Shuttle mission! Doesn't matter if they can't harm ground hybrids, if ally doesn't show up, just dump waves of zealots on their heads :D When ally pushes into a base, I like to use phoenixes to disable/kill anything they can lift while ally deals with buildings (shield overcharge is so sweet!) and when the bases are cleared ally camps spawns while I strafe around, help with a wave or just kill shuttles on spawns..
Recent buff to HTemplars and Dragoons makes for great new builds and transition from early to mid game mech build is much easier now, while letting you support an aggressive ally better from range Oh and Zealot+HT are just made for spawn camping :D
I feel like Archons are Artanis' weakest units; not durable enough for their short range and only effective vs Zerg enemies. Also difficult to produce with that 300 gas price tag + the need to merge + no benefit from warp-in attack speed mastery. I'll take 1 Ascendant over 1 Archon anytime. Power Underwhelming!

My favourite commander by far.
I love playing phoenix+zealot(+tempest). phoenix+zealot is superb against any protoss composition, and debatable against terran and zerg, but still works decently if played with care. Love the versatility of adding tempests to this extremely mobile force - allows pushing and defending at the same time leading to very fast clears on many maps.

I just started playing Artanis and now I really wonder how this guide would change given the buffs to Dragoons, they seem really solid now.

can you update the guide ?
