Korean tournaments have been always open for foreigners as long as they come to Korea (it's offline event, ofc). The reason you had to wait such a long time to see a foreigner in GSL (Scarlett) is the dificulty of the tournament makes foreigners feel not worthy to travel all the way to Korea and then get rekt

2017 > 2016 already Nah no proleague
meh. Wasn't the same anyway.
Team identity was being stripped away with increasingly less and less player retention between teams. It wasn't like in the old days where guys like DRG were the face of their team or where you could watch the saplings on teams like IM develop into pillars for their team. Felt like anyone could jump teams and that ruins a lot of the team rivalry hype imo.
Also, at least we now have a parade of top-tier players in online events. Used to be that guy's like ByuL would only be seen once every blue moon.
I do miss FPL though ;;

Also there's money on the line for every bo3 match, that's cool. If there was no money on the line for each match, this format would be hell. Go through Challenger 5man group into a 6man group into 4man group to qualify into a 10man group for a chance at $1000 Well the worst thing about the format is that if you didn't get through the qualifiers in season 1, you can't make Premier in season 2. But yeah no money for the matches would also not have been great.
The prelims are on the 8th/9th, I hope the IEM Katowice champion is sober by then

It's a WCS Korea event so it should be open for foreigners since WCS Korea isn't region-locked. That aside, SSL was always open for foreigners and back in 2015 they would always invite big foreign names to play SSL Challenge.

The part about the "saplings" is true, but that's a general issue of the Korean scene, there aren't that many promising saplings to be found right now. But I disagree with the part about there being "no faces" and a feeling that anyone could jump team. I felt quite the opposite actually. In other sports during the off-season there's always this feeling of "Maybe big player X will join another team because he got a better offer". Not a feeling I got with Proleague. Players like Zest, Stats, Maru, sOs, herO and others, the faces of their teams, I never had the feeling that any of them would leave their team. Unless their team disbanded.

Yeah, I really like the direction this is going. There are people who are interested in both games and this time it's not about forced transitions, so we will have high quality matches in both games. For me it's a win/win And they even have up&down matches from GSL :D

Possibly reading too much into this, but it also suggests SSL is here to stay. This format is essentially Code A / Code S from 2011 when they were separate tournaments; it doesn't make sense that they'd set up such a long term format if it's not continuing into more seasons

Only MVP, Afreeca/Sbenu, Prime and IM (before disbandment) were constantly changing.

I like this format a lot. Less content to keep up w/ during each week, making it easier to create and follow storylines, and round robin format helps with the same.

wooo! 4 day a week KR SC2 it looks like :D

March 20 is a Monday
I'm so happy Korean SC2 is returning to Monday.
I missed watching Proleague on the otherwise shittiest day of the week.
